I've seen some posts here on the forum about 'insanely difficult' missions which came in with RMR. I've made some changes which will hit TQ with the next static update which should adress some of these issues.
Just incase I missed something, could you please post what mission you believe is 'way too difficult'. Give me the name and the level and exactly what makes it so difficult. I give no promises that I will reduce the difficulty, but I will take a look at it.

plz Zrakor keep these 'insanely difficult' missions but also plz plz plz give 'the rats' in them nice high bountys so all the risk = big reward and at most maybe jus swap some of the easy lv4s with the harder lv3 missions

i've posted elsewhere about a particular mission, and if it works as intended then fine. but please lets not have a 5 set mission, with no bounties
it took me several hours to complete up the fourth one and i made nothing really. difficulty is great, but imagine losing a ship that could take a further 100 missions to replace...

Yeah, a challenge for somebody in a T2 ship and lots of skills, who should run the higher level missions, impossible for the people with the intended T1 ship and moderate skills.
To all guys who were bored with their level 2 and level 3 missions they were doing with no risk in their HAC or BS: if you want challenge, go run level 4s, leave the less skilled pilots alone with the regular missions that are already decently challenging for them.

All the new lvl 4 missions seem very difficult , you seem to aggro all of the rats straight away. Cant remember all the names and at work now so .....
Had trouble with the new Zor one, all aggro and now seem to swith target to support ships also
And I have Enemies abound stage 5/5 to do next which after reading a previous post I dont want to throw my Navy Raven into.
I think they should be kept hard but to tank the whole complex at the same time is nearly impossible my friend boosts my raven with 2 large shield transferers and 1 medium and still have trouble tanking.
(sorry for the rant....)

I didn't change this mission at all for RMR. I assume this may be caused by a bug, or were you using a ton of drones who might have flown through the aggro radius of other npc groups than you were fighting?

They should have bounties, i.e. the tags. You can sell them in Empire space now. Amarr Navy tags in Minmatar/Gallente space etc. You need to uncheck the 'search only available' box when you look for the demand, because there is no supply normally (obviously npcs are not going to supply these tags on the market, just ask for them).

Gang support for missions is scheduled for Kali. When Kali arrives, you'll probably be able to find a lot harder missions.

In the Midst of Deadspace 1/5 is HARD solo, but I've got no problem with that. I do have a problem with a mission that's like an angel ex on steroids only having 1hour 6 minutes to complete for the bonus, 200K reward, 200K bonus, 300LP's, and no bounties on the rats.
As has previously been stated, don't lower the difficulty, just tweak the agro patterns a little, and up the rewards. Level 4's SHOULD be difficult to solo, but the rewards should reflect that.

Well, I'm not sure the devs want you to be able to solo all missions in t1 ships and moderate skills. I may be wrong, but I get the impression they distinctly *didn't* want that, and wanted people to use groups more. If so, the new mission difficulty is correct: needs either a group or t2 stuff / good skills.
Maybe Zrakor can comment on this (i.e. the intention behind the difficulty, what are you aiming for)?
*I'm* not having problems with the new lvl3s. But then I fly AFs and have high skills with them.

zrakor why are you guys turning 'everything' into a timesink? your doing a good job making it so lv4s need teamwork but we need more rewards and as these new missions take a while to do we 'dont' need to be having to find a place to sell tags

Well it shouldn't be such a huge hassle. Just hoard the tags at a station where you drop off your loot normally, and then when you have enough to make it worth your time you fly to the station where there is demand.

The lvl 4 destroy the convoy or hows it named, kill some badgers and some cruisers, the enemies respawn in 4 waves i think, its almost impossible nowdays.
Not beeing able to look the rats, Tried to warp in from 100 km and started to lock and poof cant lock, tried a several times again couldnt look, all cruisers came into fireing range, and i got a lock, started to fire, and the lock was gone again, tanked for a while and still couldnt get a lock and had to get out of there.
Took a corp mate to help me, and he got locked aswell?? wtf tough all was aggro on me but no.
Something needs to be done about the target jamming, whats the fun of it if you cant even fire your guns on your enemies? :/

Edited by: Braenwyn on 19/12/2005 12:51:12 I lost my Megathron with T2 equipment ( total value of 130 million ISK ) on the Black Market Hub yesterday.
Not that mission is too difficult, but of the unexpected change in behaviour of the NPC's. They warpscrambled me, which they never ever had done before. After that I was a sitting duck. My 425mm rails and Heavy Drones were unable to do any damage, so I exploded.
If I had known to expect warpscrambling I could have exchanged some damage mods for warpcore stabilizers, and would have saved my ship
I always did this mission in a BS, because this mission is very hard for a level 3 !! too many NPC ships in close proximity. A small ship can hit them better, but doesn't have the stamina to survive so many. A large ship has less chance of hitting, but can take a beating, warp out, repair and come back in.. that was my strategy until yesterday, when I could not warp out :(
not nice

Ok, not sure if this is supposed to be the case, but here's what happened - Dev's can decide...
Get offered technological secrets LVL3 mission... New to me, so figure I'll do it in my deimos, just to be safe. Have EM/Thermal hardners fitted, thinking mercs usually do about 10% explosive...
Go into 1st lvl deadspace and there is no DS gate - warp straight in, face 3 cruisers... By the time the 1st cruiser is down i'm at 40% armour and not tanking damage, so I warp out...
Look at logs and see they're doing 160 explosive damage with heavies, so go back to base, drop damage mod to fit EM/Expl/Thermal hardner, giving 80/55/83.75/83.75 armour resistance. Go back to mission...
Warp straight in again and there's about 20-30 rats, most of them frigates. I have base set as destination, so I turn round to face that and by the time I've swivelled (about 3 seconds - no lag) my shield has gone. By the time I warp (another few seconds, again no lag), i'm down to 10% armour.
Now I didn't think u needed a fleet of battleships to do lvl3s, but I may be wrong... Cancelling this mission, because i'm not convinced my raven would tank that stuff for long...

How about too easy missions post-patch? Those new Drone Controllers in Infiltrated Outposts are nothing compared to Supreme Drones.
Tought I had shield meter bug again. But no, it was only their laughable damage.

I really dont get it ppl, a Developer opens up a thread to collect some real feedback which he needs to correct those issues, yet some of you still only rant instead of giving him some real argumented information. This thread is not about whining cause you lost your battleship, but to help both devs and in the end to help us too, to have a playable, and well balanced game. So stop ranting and write in this thread only if you have some useful argumented info on mission difficulties! |

The biggest problem imho, is that now NPC's does a whole new range of effect damage on us players. Like scramble, jam, and so on. To overcome this the only counter seem to be create even larger groups for doing these missions, but that turns sharing a poor meal into gnawing on a bone. Heck we can't even webb or do any effect damage on certain npc's but the npc's can in many ways just walk right over a player witht he current changes. There isn't enough slots on ships to both fit for tanking and the extended defence you need. NPC's cheats to make up for lacking AI, but to put them on steriods makes unhappy players imho.
Its something wrong when someone who can tank to the extreme get ripped to pieces in a matter of seconds. Being jammed and not able to deal with the one scrambling you so you can tuck tail is bad.

On the note of BM hub, I have often been warpscrambled there, that is nothing new.
As for the tags, where do they sell? I am in Khanid space and there are no buy orders for them here. Do they only sell in hubs? Would be nice if some buy orders could be put into Khanid space too...

i've had a check to see how much Amarr Navy General tags sell for, of which I have a couple, and they only go for 10000 isk each.
is it something thats due to change with regards to tag sell costs?

warpscrambling + jamming is "egg" happening.
There is no point defence for larger ships. You can fitt smaller guns, but need a webber in addition if you want to hit, and when you get jammed you can't really use that option either.
I would favour longer distances in ds missions, not necessary land further from the gates to next levels. But have the rats more spread out and less of the "everything light up as a xmas tree". When ratting in belts you got the luxery of warp in at preferd distance, missions doesnt have this luxury.

Im getting most all the mission done safely(with a BC and I have pretty good skills) but they they are taking forever.
Because I either have to go with a bunch of frig weapons/assult launchers, or It takes for ever to kill a few of the frigs.
The Mercenary Wingmen and the Arch Angel Vipers take an extremely long time to kill - even with 3 assult launchers.
