Well, is it me, and am I unlucky or drone AI and behaviour is even worse than pre-patch?
Since patch:
my drones tend to stuck together much more often (pre-patch, I had nearly never had the issue with med drones, not it's each time I field them).
return to drone bay works even less often, drones tend to stay around your ship instead of going back to bay more often
return and orbit / return to drone bay / attack drone movement speed: even more often than before, drones tend to move back to your ship or to the next target at orbit speed instead of MWDing
new issue? Here is something I never had before: I ask my drones to go back to bay. Some do it well, but one seems to not be able to close the distance. When I look at its speed, I see that it's flying at 20m/s. And even worse, as it closes the distance, it slows even more, with its speed going down to 19m/s, 18, 17, ... as if it really didn't want to come back in bay. Well, I never noticed such reluctance from drones to come back to ship, but maybe it was only because we used to not be able to see their speed .
drone no longer responding to commands? Again, I asked my drones to come back to bay (because they were getting fired at). 3 makes to the bay MWDing. 2 seemed to be stucked together, and were flying at orbit speed. As one was not damaged at all, I figured I could try to destuck them by asking the undamaged one to go back attacking. Well, no response. With that loosy speed, the damaged one ended up being destroyed. But hell, the other one was no longer responding. He was still showing up as returning to ship, tried to ask it to attack 3-4 times, no change. After 30s-1mn it was destroyed .
Drones are not my main weapon, being minmatar, but I really feel for pure drone users (for once, as with their endless whines during the past month, I didn't really feel for them ). It's particularly annoying to have to buy new drones every now and then just because they decide they won't answer anymore? Did they join a trade union and to go on strike?

I only have problems with the returning speeds really, they dont seem to find there MWD button, other then that they are ok (for me at least)
and Wasps need fixing as well, its a bit unfair with there current tracking (which is 42.9 rad/sec, I guess it should be 0.429 rad/sec)

Especially my LightDrones liko to stay about 1,6-2 km outside scoop range when I command them "return to bay".... Heavies on the other hand work fine in this case

and gall still gets minma knockoff medium drones? cant you make one that looks a little more gallente... rather than a crappy valkyrie clone?
edit: and what would be really nice is a keyboard shortcut for 'all drones return and orbit' to stop the damn things from flying 10km away and aggro'ing random groups/buildings whilst im waist deep in orbiting inties

Very buggy about returning to drone bay. I often times have to set myself to approach the drone b/c otherwise it seems like it can't ever catch up (aven without AB on). Other times it returns just fine. Also seems like they tend to go into a stop/idle state after combat instead of auto-returning to the ship. Sometimes will merrily orbit me while targets are in range and attacking me, instead of attacking.

damn drones are going to be the end of me, issues range from the annoying.... Crawling at 1ms to the damn right bad bad bad attacking unmarked targets and pulling the mission spawn down.

in my experience drones are behaving just as bad as they ever did except now when a few don't folow the orders that's 2/5 of all your drones out there instead of 2/10 or 2/15...
please CCP, fix this

Yeah, I've had one or two of my drones go off to 40kms away and tag something that wasn't aggro'd on me. The light and medium drones go so fast, that you have to watch and make sure one doesn't trail off, and it seems the heavies start shooting before they should, so they also have a tendency to draw attention too quickly. I've had an entire deadspace complex on me, merely because one or two drones went off and attacked a random structure or npc target further off(even when there are 5-10 targets that are currently aggro'd on me, and well within 10-20kms of my ship).
I think drones really should'nt aggro auto-aggro at all, or in any case, be able to set drone AI to: "Stand-By" - Will not aggro, unless you direct them a target. "Defense" - Drones only fire when you or they are fired upon. "Offense" - Will openly destroy anything within drone control range, including hostile ships and destructable structures.
I'd rather have drones that only attack what I tell them, than drones that randomly do something stupid.
And yes for the really bad time getting my drones to return, I've had to more or less "meet my drones halfway" to pick them up, merely because they sputter about like a spoilt child not wanting to come in for the night.

One more thing i wanna discuss.... repair drones... Isn`t they useless while they cant repair master ship? Or they were designed only for suppor ships like Logistic? because no1 will take them insted of combat drones if they cant repair your ship. Maibe make special action like: "Repair target" and "Repair MasterShip", or u can repair your ship only without agrro 30 sec, like docking station and jumping gates, if u think this would be unballanced to repair while combat.

Early on it was not hard to get the drones back to the bay.
Once I trained up the optimal range, it appears that the drones orbit at the optimal range and if it is out side of the scooping range, they never return. It has gotten to the point that I have call them to the drone bay, then once they get close, "approach them" to get them inside. It appears to be a bug in the code.

I wonder do CCP consider implications of this kind of embarassing activity. First they advertise that drones are being remade pretty much . then they deliver it only half way thru.
The funny and stupid thing about sentry drones activation range is. That it's limited to your drone control range even tho the drone it self could fire to much longer range.
There is so many half made things in this new patch . I would not have minded if they spent bit more finishing it up.
oh and signed . Id like them fixed like everyone else.

Yep drones are moronic and need fixing, they zoom around at high speed then stop like 1.6km away just to irritate you . Also I don't understand why they are still solid objects, I mean they made it so missles pass through things why not drones? ------------- Order of the Wombles: Recycling those untidy modules on your ship.

/Signed Lost my Ishtar because that I were webbed and scrambled. I tried to recall my heavy drones so I could use drones that could hit the EW NPCs. but because the stayed out of my collect to dronebay range and I could not fly to them, my ship went BOOOOM

Personally, I think it would be interesting if drones only had those options (or commands similar to them) and could not be directed at specific targets. It would really make them different from guns (and other weapons) then. It would also increase the feel of them having independant AI that you just give general orders to. I think it could be neat if this also opend up options to customize the AI (such as customizing targetting priorities, or target aquisition range, or even when to retreat). |
