Well, is it me, and am I unlucky or drone AI and behaviour is even worse than pre-patch?
Since patch:
my drones tend to stuck together much more often (pre-patch, I had nearly never had the issue with med drones, not it's each time I field them).
return to drone bay works even less often, drones tend to stay around your ship instead of going back to bay more often
return and orbit / return to drone bay / attack drone movement speed: even more often than before, drones tend to move back to your ship or to the next target at orbit speed instead of MWDing
new issue? Here is something I never had before: I ask my drones to go back to bay. Some do it well, but one seems to not be able to close the distance. When I look at its speed, I see that it's flying at 20m/s. And even worse, as it closes the distance, it slows even more, with its speed going down to 19m/s, 18, 17, ... as if it really didn't want to come back in bay. Well, I never noticed such reluctance from drones to come back to ship, but maybe it was only because we used to not be able to see their speed .
drone no longer responding to commands? Again, I asked my drones to come back to bay (because they were getting fired at). 3 makes to the bay MWDing. 2 seemed to be stucked together, and were flying at orbit speed. As one was not damaged at all, I figured I could try to destuck them by asking the undamaged one to go back attacking. Well, no response. With that loosy speed, the damaged one ended up being destroyed. But hell, the other one was no longer responding. He was still showing up as returning to ship, tried to ask it to attack 3-4 times, no change. After 30s-1mn it was destroyed .
Drones are not my main weapon, being minmatar, but I really feel for pure drone users (for once, as with their endless whines during the past month, I didn't really feel for them ). It's particularly annoying to have to buy new drones every now and then just because they decide they won't answer anymore? Did they join a trade union and to go on strike?

I only have problems with the returning speeds really, they dont seem to find there MWD button, other then that they are ok (for me at least)
and Wasps need fixing as well, its a bit unfair with there current tracking (which is 42.9 rad/sec, I guess it should be 0.429 rad/sec)

Especially my LightDrones liko to stay about 1,6-2 km outside scoop range when I command them "return to bay".... Heavies on the other hand work fine in this case

edit: and what would be really nice is a keyboard shortcut for 'all drones return and orbit' to stop the damn things from flying 10km away and aggro'ing random groups/buildings whilst im waist deep in orbiting inties

Very buggy about returning to drone bay. I often times have to set myself to approach the drone b/c otherwise it seems like it can't ever catch up (aven without AB on). Other times it returns just fine. Also seems like they tend to go into a stop/idle state after combat instead of auto-returning to the ship. Sometimes will merrily orbit me while targets are in range and attacking me, instead of attacking.

damn drones are going to be the end of me, issues range from the annoying.... Crawling at 1ms to the damn right bad bad bad attacking unmarked targets and pulling the mission spawn down.

in my experience drones are behaving just as bad as they ever did except now when a few don't folow the orders that's 2/5 of all your drones out there instead of 2/10 or 2/15...
please CCP, fix this

Yeah, I've had one or two of my drones go off to 40kms away and tag something that wasn't aggro'd on me. The light and medium drones go so fast, that you have to watch and make sure one doesn't trail off, and it seems the heavies start shooting before they should, so they also have a tendency to draw attention too quickly. I've had an entire deadspace complex on me, merely because one or two drones went off and attacked a random structure or npc target further off(even when there are 5-10 targets that are currently aggro'd on me, and well within 10-20kms of my ship).
I think drones really should'nt aggro auto-aggro at all, or in any case, be able to set drone AI to: "Stand-By" - Will not aggro, unless you direct them a target. "Defense" - Drones only fire when you or they are fired upon. "Offense" - Will openly destroy anything within drone control range, including hostile ships and destructable structures.
I'd rather have drones that only attack what I tell them, than drones that randomly do something stupid.
And yes for the really bad time getting my drones to return, I've had to more or less "meet my drones halfway" to pick them up, merely because they sputter about like a spoilt child not wanting to come in for the night.

One more thing i wanna discuss.... repair drones... Isn`t they useless while they cant repair master ship? Or they were designed only for suppor ships like Logistic? because no1 will take them insted of combat drones if they cant repair your ship. Maibe make special action like: "Repair target" and "Repair MasterShip", or u can repair your ship only without agrro 30 sec, like docking station and jumping gates, if u think this would be unballanced to repair while combat.

Early on it was not hard to get the drones back to the bay.
Once I trained up the optimal range, it appears that the drones orbit at the optimal range and if it is out side of the scooping range, they never return. It has gotten to the point that I have call them to the drone bay, then once they get close, "approach them" to get them inside. It appears to be a bug in the code.

I wonder do CCP consider implications of this kind of embarassing activity. First they advertise that drones are being remade pretty much . then they deliver it only half way thru.
The funny and stupid thing about sentry drones activation range is. That it's limited to your drone control range even tho the drone it self could fire to much longer range.
There is so many half made things in this new patch . I would not have minded if they spent bit more finishing it up.
oh and signed . Id like them fixed like everyone else.

Yep drones are moronic and need fixing, they zoom around at high speed then stop like 1.6km away just to irritate you . Also I don't understand why they are still solid objects, I mean they made it so missles pass through things why not drones? ------------- Order of the Wombles: Recycling those untidy modules on your ship.

It would also make it so much easier to kill Domis and Ishtars by sending 1-2 light drones to attack their Heavies. Heavies try to hit ur lights and you kill the Domi or Ishtar with your whateva....

Added another issue I had forget in the first post:
while drones tend to not use their MWD while coming back or moving to a new target, light drones tend to keep their MWD on while orbiting their target (doesn't always happen, usualy not for all light drones at a time: currently I use one hobgoblin and one warrior along with 3 meds in my cyclone, and I usualy one of them, and not the other, orbiting at over 3km/s). That means at that time their are completely useless, as I don't think they'll hit much when orbiting at 3km/s...

The only way I've found around this whole issue is 'not' to use the return to drone bay command. I find that using return and orbit, then scouping them to dronebay works better. Originally by: Trelennen

Also noted and confirmed. I believe this was supposed to be resolved with this patch, but with light drones anyway, at least one, usually two of my five light drones will continuously mwd while orbiting a target.

That's why I want to be able to change their targetting prioities. If they were set to go after the largest target first, they would ignore other drones and go after the enemy ship (I would expect drone AI to use sig radius to determine ship size).
It would also be nice if you could tell drones to only attack ships you have targetted, or to only attack ships you are attacking. |

Drones are way worse than before RMR. For me, the return to orbit fails 4 times out of 5. They stay at 2000m going a great 5.5 m/s (which is pretty ******* slow for light drones). And the return to drone bay works even less often. They can't even catch up with my ferox going at 160 m/s.
Please CCP, have a look at these, it's REALLY annoying for everybody.

Detaurus informed you of this when rmr was still in testing. Everyone blindly looked at numbers which are completely inaccurate to substantiate their hope that drones were boosted. Drones were completely nerfed into oblivion. Their use to effectively counter tacklers has come to an end. For CCP, MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.

Detaurus is WRONG! Gone are the days of flying around with nothing but heavies in your drone bay, mowing everything from frigs to battleships down. Here are the days where you need to use size-appropriate drones to accomplish your goals.
My Domi still rocks from frigs all the way up to battleships, it just requires a little adaptation on MY part. The only changes post-RMR I made to my setup was to add a target painter and stock at least 1 medium and 1 light drone wave.
I've noticed the same problems with the "return" commands, much more than prior to RMR. I usually select the drone and "Approach" prior to issuing the command, seems to work real well, but it's still a pain.

Go troll somewhere else Detaurus, you and you're damn alts. I guess if you stopped using Detaurus is because that char got a forum ban. If only forum bans could be for accounts and not only chars... (or even ban any account paid with same credit card).
A bug is not a nerf, it's a bug. Drones have been boosted, but their AI is even more bugged than before patch, and CCP really needs to fix that ASAP!

Mainly they just need an AI tweak/overhaul... I don't care if they are ever smart enough to choose thier own targets based on some preferences I set, I'd be happy iof I could simply scoop em to my drone bay relaibly... etc.

with regard to the drones auto aggroing something after their target is destroyed, there's a nifty workaround... Form a gang with someone, then kick him/her out of the gang, so you're alone in it, that way the effect of gang on the behaviour of drones is in effect, (they just sit there and wait for further instructions)

Main issues occur when launching a mix of different class drones. Launch medium and light drones, the light do not respond. Launching same class drones resolves this issue.

/signed.. but seems yall forgot bout drone behavoiur while ur in a gang.. they wont auto-agro.. they will kill only the targeted rat ..then theyll just return to idle orbiting u while ur ship is taking damage.. workaround.. dont use drones to defend urself while ur in a gang mining...

I think a solution to drone sex cud be removing the collission model. They'll be able to fly right through everything but who cares?
Also make them only do stuff they ordered to do. Thats isn't to hard if you ask me... Seems like just removing some stuff.

I cant say Im surprised that they problems are the same or worse after the changes. Come to think of it the whole reason given for making these changes was to reduce lag and we all know that was a huge success.

Signed. also in a pvp situation i have been told that drones act as an aggro for docking / jumping so if you launch drones then stuff warps in and they shoot your drones to keep you aggro'd this can be annoying when they dont listen.

CCP are aware of the multiple problems with drones and they even made a standing post about the issue on the Game Development Forum. All they need is for those of you who have problems with drones to post EXTREMELY detailed descriptions of what's happening in that specific thread. Click on the link in my signature to go to the above mentioned post.
They've had so many drone complaint posts that they're not really paying attention to them anymore, so please use the thread they created for us to describe your problems and hopefully we'll get them solved sooner or later. -----------------------

I use tech2 hornets with my ferox and whenever i click "look at" to one of my drones the screen zooms into the middile of my ship.
I wanna see me new tech2 drones :(

I agree, Drones are very broken right now. The main problems I experience are using the Return to Bay command, the drones close to within 1500m of my ship and then turn off their engines, when infact they are about 1520m away, I cant scoop and they perfectly match my ships speed so they stay at 1520. I have to stop, turn around and head towards them for 20m to be able to scoop them.
MWD works intermittently on all the drones except Lights it seems.
Please add in functionality for repair drones to repair the master ship. Maybe at a penalty, but just the functionality please. It kills RP for me not to be able to repair myself with my repair drones, I mean it makes sense that they would be able to repair their own ship.

1) The fact that return to bay often results in some drones stopping just outside scoop range. This causes lost drones and lost ships, when it happens in middle of combat. Extremely annoying, makes using drones a pain (and an expensive pain, when those are t2 drones you lose due to this on a regular basis).
2) The fact that I can't see the actual stats of my drones anywhere. I'd like to have a "show info" that showed how my drones actually work, as opposed to base stats. When using a drone ship and drone modules, there are a lot of modifiers thrown into the equation. Pretty hard to plan strategies when you have no 100% sure info of how your weapons actually work.
