Once you have all the cool icons in place it would be nice to have a little grid of icons on the left that you can turn on and off to emphasize/de-emphasize ships that meet those criteria (as expressed by icons).
So if there is a missile icon in this panel and it's active then ships that have missiles will be highlighted. Any ships that don't meet those criteria won't be highlighted. By default all would be selected.
That basic capability to show what ships have what properties at a glance will be huge for this system. |

I've just been playing with ISIS on the latest build and I am very much enjoying browsing it. I thought I'd leave some initial feedback.
PresentationFrom a presentation perspective, it looks glorious and has lots of appealing visual touches. The visual flair really shows up the old ship information panes - it'd be great (and a logical progression) if those were updated to integrate more seamlessly into ISIS.
Whilst I enjoy the full screen spread and the ability ot overlay other windows on top, it is a little pervasive in certain use cases. It'd be nice to also have a windowed mode (or even better, a window that could detached from the client onto a second screen, but I won't hold my breath on that).
The language used to describe the military traits of each faction is a little clunky. I'm not a fan of "backed up with drones." It makes it sound as if the plumbing is clogged.
InteractionI hope this will get some more attention, it all feels a little off at the moment. The two-step mouse-wheel zoom feels disconnected and laggy, with the location of the mouse pointer having little or no bearing on the focus of the zoom. Can this not be a more analogue zoom?
Click-dragging suffers from the same disconnect the PI interface does, wherein the mouse cursor can move the entire width of the screen, but the object being dragged (in this case the entire Ship Tree) does not move the corresponding amount. It feels like trying to write whilst wearing over gloves.
FunctionalityI'm not entirely certain of the purpose of ISIS at present, but I really like it and hope that it finds a use. Is any interactivity planned such as a search function or customisable display criteria? eg. Highlighting particular ships or groups (missile/shield tank/Mastery lvl II+ etc.).
What about some kind of achievement-based function such as showing number of hours flown in a particular ship or number of losses/kills of a particular ship (link to Kill Reports)?
OverallISIS is strangely hypnotic and fascinating, but frustratingly empty. I want it to do more than it does. It feels like it doesn't quite show what I want to see. I look forward to seeing it fully realised with whatever functionality that will go along with it. Ships you dont have the skills to fly should really be greyed out even if you have the necessary skills partially trained. Also. if you dont have the skills to fly a ship, any mastery Level is irrelevant and shouldnt be displayed imo. Keep it clean. |

My UI is in the way, there are 2 ways to solve this problem:
1. Hide the normal UI when entering ISIS
2. Make ISIS menu bounds bigger so you can put any ship in the center of screen even if its the bottom right one |

Can you define displaced? A screenshot would be great.

Thanks, this is great. Will raise this with CCP Optimal and CCP Arrow when I get the chance.

This is intentional. The idea behind this is, "Hey you could fly this ship really well, why not just train up the requirements"
Also as a general addendum, there is still some visual work to be done, and the hover over for ships include dummy data. Not real data. All the groups and factions however have final data. Feel free to poke me on: Twitter |

In my opinion the delay when you place your mouse over a ship and the background fades away so you can see this ship flying by is too long. If you doesnt know anything about this feature you won't be able to discover it. |

Dig some digging and It's UI scaling. Defected and should get fixed. (thanks for raising this!) Also the Vargur model is not related to the ISIS, but I spoke to the CCP Vertex and he'll look into it. Feel free to poke me on: Twitter |

Allright, fair enough about the masteries. However, ships that you cant actually fly gets highligted because you have the prereqs partially trained. It creates a false impression.
For example, if you have "transport ships" trained but only one race industrial 5, the ISIS still displays as if you could fly all 8 transports, when in reality you can only fly 2 (this isnt about masteries, its about prereq skills) |

Yep indeed.
Some ships have been authored incorrectly (being fixed), such as the Moroes.
While other groups don't have all of their prerequisite skills authored correctly so the groups are highlighting ships that shouldn't be available (because you have one of many prerequisite skills). Have some pending work to resolve this.
Thanks for keeping your eyes peeled for these things. Feel free to poke me on: Twitter |

Having not ready each post...
Any way to make the hover-over-ship sound not quite so annoying? Also, not really seeing a good reason for it to be there. It just adds yet one more thing causing me to turn my sound down/off at times...then forget it is down/off until later after i miss a critical piece of audio info.
What purpose does the sound serve? Really, to let you know you are hovering over a ship? And thats it? Sometimes, simpler is better. When will you (CCP) ever realize this? http://blog.beyondreality.se/shift-click-does-nothing -á-á < Unified Inventory is NOT ready... |

This was a feature I was looking forward too ever since the fanfest presentation. However, after playing around with it a bit, I was disappointed.-áAs a vet I could figure out whats going on with the tree fairly quickly, but it wasn't the easiest or most intuitive display of information to read. It's clunky and lacks both the smoothness and advanced looks that the prototype at fanfest displayed.
I think a new player (the prime demographic for this feature) will struggle to figure out whats going on and not use it too often.-á
Problems/solutions:
1) when I open the tree, I should be fully zoomed out so I can see the entire tree, and then allowed to zoom in. That gives the player a better sense of what they're looking at, rather than just focused on the frigs and having to move the tree around to get comfortable with it and see the progression. I also think I should be able to zoom.out farther than the current design allows for.
2) Add some color to the indicator of the charactor's 'level of ability' for each ship class. The blocks are kind of small and don't immediately stand out, and they blend together as well, so a bit of color based on what level you have would be beneficial.-á
3) I was a fan of the holographic ships when they were small models you could spin around and see up close at fanfest. But they don't work well when used as an icon. Even the (very small) enhancement that happens when you hover the mouse over them doesn't really show you the ship, its way too small. I think the normal color icons would work much better than the holographs, unless you went back to the way you had them at fanfest. Color for them would also help a little too if you decide to keep them as is.-á
Overall, I don't think this will really help players understand progression in its current state, I do like the addition of it to the game.

Also, I didn't like the popup window when you hovered over a ship. Its pertinent information for sure, but it just clashes with the overall tree since you're using color icons for the popup window and holographs for the main page, plus it just clutters everything up.
I would add the information that's on the popup window to the main tree...so you would have say the icon of the ship to the left, with the icons for weapon systems and so forth to the immediate right of it, eliminating that popup window entirely. |

I like the aesthetics of ISIS, and there's a lot of good information here, but I have two problems with it.
In this character's case, I have Transport Ships 1 trained, and level 5 mastery for the Occator, but I don't have Gallente Industrials trained to 5. It is gold, there is a line going up to it, and it looks like I can fly it according to this chart, but I can't. I understand you'd like it to be shown that "hey, you have mastery over this ship, go train for it" but it needs to be clear that you still need to actually train for it. Perhaps grey out the line, or the ship icons, but use a dull brown instead of the grey to show that you have mastery.
The other (minor) issue is the organization of the factions. Guristas being on the top row, away from the other pirate factions looks weird. Perhaps switch them with SoE, or perhaps make it three lines, Empire | ORE/SOE | Pirates. |

Looking at a ship info, in the Mastery tab. Would it be possible to only show skills I'm lacking to get a level of mastery? Some ships require many different certificates and clicking on all of them and going through the list of a few dozen skills only to find the one I'm missing is kinda tedious. |

I share the same opinion: showing the skills needed for a mastery ahead of / instead of / separately to the skills we have already trained for that level would be lovely! Day 0 advice for new players: Day 0 Advice for New Players |

No background and ship flypast anymore? Is that coming back or not or just a bug?
Also the ISIS UI scaling issue is still there.
Also, not sure who did the awesome new ship-viewer but would it be possible to get the full range of vertical camera motion instead of the restricted in-station range?
