ive been playing eve for over 2 years.. I started a miner.. I stayed a miner.. I still am a miner at heart.
sad I know.. From 1 account using a punisher to mine In tash Murkon prime.. ive expanded my ranks to now 6 accounts. 1 fully fledged pvp character caldari speced.. cepter 5 assault frig 5. hac 5 BS 5 etc etc.. course i only use him to tank spawns so i can mine with the rest of my team in barges =)..
So here i am 2 years later.. still playing.. possibly harder then ever. when i set out I average 100+ mill an hour income Mining with basicly no problems..
I bought a Dreadnaught today.. jumped it around low sec... as a play toy....
Ive mined enough Veldspar by myself to Finally refine enough Trit to make it roll over a stack.. 2.14billion trit =)
ive Been part of a team who has put up 2 outposts by ourselves.. Oh how i love refinery's in Crokite/bisto rich systems
ive helped put up and maintain/operate over 20 POS's from defenses to tech 2 production chains ...
I once mined for 48 hours straight minus Downtime.. (help me)
Ive got level 4 agents.. done the whole agent runnin bit for a while.
lived in a few places... Empire.. Tash murkon prime majorly.. Up in Delekin for a bit.. and For a long long while down in paragon soul under Stain alliance.. Stain empire.. and now under Tribal souls.. Guess you could say i like the place =)
On a scale from 1 to 10. Id like to say ive accomplished an 8 out of stuff to do in game.
The only thing i really havnt done is been a leader of an alliance. or Fly a Titan. both of which are a bit out of reach of my "Teams"(ie. me) reach right now. but hey i can keep working.
Ive pvped when needed... and then when it wasnt needed at all. Money isnt an issue with me anymore so i dont have to ever look at Eve as a Grind more of a waiting game for my skills to train.. or for me to aquire a new goal.
I dont want to gloat here.. these are just my experiences in game... I play hard and look go go above and beyond which I feel i have, being that I do most of the stuff by myself (my accounts).
So I look out to any of you other Crazy gamers.. Nuts.. loones... eve-addicts.. For stuff that you have done to find some fun in this huge game. I would like to try new things.. Maybe change up my game time some.. Who knows.. I just dont like to not have goals besides like zomg 555 billion isk etc etc.. thats a grind.. not a goal =)
Well thanks for taking the time to read my late night.. Im an eve player post.. ====================================================================

I dunno..Sponsor new people? Be able to make any ship, counting the BPO/BPC and the materials. Make a Titan, even if you can't use it. Use BCs to spell out your name in Jita, just to make it more laggier? Try and make a pure wall of shuttles? ------------------------------------------------ [b]Pirates are people too. So, stop by at a local Low-Sec system to chat. Please, bring loads of expensive cargo, and leave all WCS and weapons behind |

Yeah thats bound to happen if you have 6 accounts. In effect, you are playing the game six times faster than most other people.
Oh and btw, if you been doing everything by yourself (with 6 accounts) then you have missed out on the most important thing in EVE - teamplay.

Let's see... 6 accounts... and a knack for mining. You apparently loved the game so much you'd be willing to spend ... let's do the math, shall we?
$14.95 per month x 6 accounts = $89.70 (per month)

hmmm..
Played the same amount of time as you do.. thought I was bad...
I have 1 account.. the thought of getting another DID occur, but that would mean that I would have to play 2 accounts.. ARG, can't do that..
I have presently about 5-6 mil. 2 days ago I had 135 mil. 2 days before that I had about 5-6 mil, see the pattern?
Of the above money, I bought myself 3 125mm rail II's, and 1 10mw AB II. The rest I gave away to friends and those in need..
I sit outside noob stations and bait them.. I get LOTS of kills that way.
I give the above noobs 250k each.
I challange people to random duels.. I sometimes win. More often I lose. I always have fun.
I have been gatecamped(BOOM)
I have been sniped(heh that tickles)
I enjoy my time in eve.. I do NOT grind(which is what you have done.. 6 accounts all mining = grinding.)
Lose 5 of them accounts, take your lowest one and go have some FUN. get in a group, and just fly around. Sometimes chasing a vagabond though low sec space (and of couse NOT catching him cuz the sucker moves at 4000+ m/s) is great fun.. sometimes being blown up is fun. And always help out someone.. give a noob advice, help him/her out, give them a bit of cash, and guess what, when they get 'big n' strong' they will do the same, and eve will just become more popular. Sitting by yourself in some random hidden area is anti team play. You, in my eyes, are a isk farmer, but lucky for you, are not a macro.

Dude, 6 Accounts!!! FOR 2 YEARS!!!
No wonder you are starting to feel a bit melancholy with the game. What do you honestly expect?
Try quitting for 6 months, and taking up a hobby that gets you as far away from your computer as possible, and you'll begin to realise that if you just had one account and played a bit less, the time you do spend will be more enjoyable.
Well thats my view on things - that beyond a point extra time spent playing computer games results in diminishing returns of enjoyment.
Just the sheer financial commitment you've made to this game is rather disturbing from my perspective, but hey! It takes allsorts :)

I've gotten 3 promotions since I've been playing. I found a girl dumb enough to marry me and am planning the wedding (who am I kidding, she's planning the wedding :P). I've started my own business on the side and am planning on another one. I've visted 3 continents, and have trips planned this year to visit them again. I've bought a house, a car, and am saving for my retirement (only 30).
So, yeah. There's a lot of goals you could have. Just depends on where the priorities. :)

Very nice post and interesting read.
You obviously pointed at one of the major flaws of EVE though: multiple accounts for a single player. That's a single factor amongst others why EVE will never be a decent PvP game. Not everybody likes to have the same chances as the others I guess.

I actually dont pay for any of the accounts anymore. 100 mill isk ingame = 30 day time code..
So inturn.. i mine for 6 hours a month for all my accoutns time =). Id be a poor poor guy if i was dishing out nearly 100 bucks a month for this game lol
I guess the only thing i really wish i had right now ingame was a 40 million SP character.. ive got alot of training ahead of me to fully use my dread and beyond. I suppose thats another thing i can set my eyes on.. buying a huge Sp character hehe.
I thought about buying a Cap 2 bpo.. but realized... who in the right mind would let one of them go.. for any ammount of isk. ====================================================================

6 Accounts, impressive, not unheard of though rare outside the Macro Community...
I will say you have done *ALOT* but there is so much more to do though, exploring was/is a favorite hobby I had in EVE. Playing a part in a an Alliance that shapes the game is nice, try events out they are fun.
Those of us who have stuck with RP still like it, espcially those like me who mostly PvP with it
I see a whole lot of Combat/politics you haven't tried, but yeah you've done loads I never have!
2 Accounts now for 2 years and im still broke all the time. So how about you send me some isk, and I'll take you for a night on the town, exotic dancers and spiced wine all you want! For God, Empire, and Sarum! |

A few things you could try to make the game fun again:
Large scale capital ship production (on your own)
Stick an outpost up in P3EN, FD-MLJ or HED-GP (again, on your own)
Attempt to blow up Marginis, Borealis or Blue Pill (on your own)
Pirate people in, say, Jita or Oursulaert
Give Up Mining (i think you can get patches for this)
Be instrumental in the crystallisation of Eve's future most powerful alliance
Pay a harem of noob slaves 50m a day each to follow you around and sing your praises in local
Be one of those weird pokemon people who collect everything in game
Join exiles and/or give me all your spare cash to invest in speculative futures and bonds which will pay vast sums to ecologically sound projects for the next 30 years and help amputee orphans get over pet grief trauma syndrome.
Play SWG, WoW or Guild Wars for a month. Then you will thank your lucky stars you picked eve.

Create a corporation. There's an opening, I think, for an experienced mining corporation in 0.0 space. There are a lot of less-experienced players who want to make that jump into mining in non-empire space, but who don't have the protection to be able to survive. Their corporations are in empire or don't have the firepower, and most of the current 0.0 corps seem to be combat-oriented.

So today i spent a few hours mining.. *sigh*
Got a few convos from people who saw this post asking for Isk or stuffs =) one guy asked for me to fund his faction Bship lol.. granted i didnt help him.. i did have a pretty funny convo.
By no means am i quiting.. I enjoy the game And being that i dont pay my real life money to play anymore thats not really an issue.. I mean ill probably just keep mining and gathering iskies and stuff and let my team train.. Maybe full 5 hulks or somthing for them.. *shrug*..
im sure ill think of some weird thing to do =)

Edited by: Demangel on 31/01/2006 01:54:28 ROFL, now this is a whine thread I wish I could join in on! But seriously I know it's not a whine :)
Anyway, if it was me, I'd play the mysterious ecclectic uncle money bags for some alliance. You know the guy who shows up for ALL PVP ops in a dread even when thats the worst possible ship to use... Like even when you know it would be lost, you fly in nothing less. That would definately get you noticed.
I would also likely fly in only the rarest most expensive ships and fittings period.
I would also use my cash as leverage and put myself into a position of power in an alliance if at all possible heheh.
In short, you have found out how to generate oodles of ISK for yourself, NOW I think it's time for you to really find out just how fast you can lose it. I'm serious! Ever see that movie brewsters millions? Do just like him! I don't mean give it away, but spend it on gifts, and simply make yourself sick on all the ISK you have till you can't stand the sight of it.
Heck you could buy up everything imaginable in an area, just to create demand for it.
Imagine how awesome it would be if everyone logged into Jita tomorrow, and there was nothing for sale anywhere in the region for the typical player? How hillarious would that be! Then wait a few days, and flood the market with all the stuff you bought.
Obviously it might not be possible to suck Jita dry of all highpriced things, but certainly the things in high demand that typicall players would want.
Heck you could even buy up all the office space in jita, and refuse to ever sell it heheh.
You could IMHO litteraly change the face of a big part of eve on your own, the only question is, just how far are you willing to go with your near infinate sums of cash? If you can't think of anything, here is your answer, do the unthinkable, buy everthing out of jita that you can. Period. Now THAT would make you very famous indeed, and I bet you'd have a blast with the response :)

now im not saying i have endless isk.. its just that when i need money Im able to go out and basicly pound it out. I rairly have more then a billion in actual isk on me unless im saving for somthing.
I do however like the idea of buying Jita out.. just buying every item off the market lol. nothing but npc sold stuff left =oP ====================================================================

So I played for over 2 years, my income is only from PvP... I never had over 2 b in my wallet... if I did I would have spent it on ships... sure I got loads of assets - i don't do it for the cash/better equipment/better ships. I play eVe because it gives me a adrenalin kick when I engage a decent target. I enjoy telling others in loacal that they better pay or lie down and die.
oh and I enjoy making it hard for ppl to experience an exodus to 0.0 - try using escorts ppl

I definitely like Demangel's idea best. Join a medium-sized PvP corp and play grandiosely expensive and enjoyable ships. Show up in your carriers and command ships, faction anything, etc... Outfit yourself a fleet of the most interesting ships you can find, then revel in using them.
Mining kills your soul. Its time to go breathe new life into it.

Naaah... I call shenannigans on this one. I play multiple MMOs, pay the subscription on all of them, am an adult with a good income, and have multiple high-end computers in my house. I'm not a stranger to the cost of entertainment. Yet, I find it hard to justify anyone paying nearly $90 a month for accounts that do nothing but mine.

The only difference between buying ISK from a farmer and buying ISK from this guy is that CCP gets a cut of the action when you go the gamecard route.

Take hundreds of shuttles and totally block a gate i've never done anything other then the occasional mission.. and mine.. of course. Mine mine mine! (I added the second line as a show of lack of experience, I can't suggest much more then what I did -- Except buying out all T2 items on the market of a certain region and messing with prices which has been recommended already)

You might try switching to a more role-play style as some stated earlier:
1. Be the person the helps to nudge the Corporate politics of Eve along (i.e the Shadowmaster of Eve) 2. Build a Corporation from scratch and help it grow into a Mega-Corp (this will take alot of patience & skill) 3. You can do both of these and still train your "Team" up for whatever toys you want (faction ships, carriers, titans, exhumer, etc.)
just my .02 isk

My aspect in eve is to be a leader of a successful corp, that was done quite some time ago, the real hassle is keeping it up.
at the head of a corp and in a major alliance it keeps the boredom low as enemies are always around and politics change like the winds.
Being that life is not about me but about a corp and an alliance the goals go beyond what i can do.
So i see the game as my corp and what we can acheive as a team.
I have managed to gather a dedicated group of players and together we have pulled of an impressive array of assets.
I was lucky as me and some mates had a plan for a corp during beta and i have never been outside my corp. To much going on to do such a thing.

If you have been playing for 2 years with 6 accounts and have only done 80% of what is possible in Eve then that is a huge praise towards what CCP has done with this game. Most games I play I will have done 99% of everything about 10x over in the first 6 months with 1 account.
And I have no advice for what you do next, that is all up to you.

Well.. After continuing on a trend of mining to gain isk to do nothing with it ive deactivated 6 of my 7 accounts... I now just have my main account which im still training with..
Guess ill just poke around and see if anything Fun or exciting comes out in the near future which would make me want to get back into Eve full swing ______________________ I am the carebear...

Originally by: Naverin ive been playing eve for over 2 years..
I'll let you pod me for a brutix. That's fun right?

Congrats on surviving this long...I have always wondered what the two year mark would be like... and I admire your decision to reduce your accounts to 1. Smart move, indeed.
Exactly how rich are you? Because I could think of a couple of crazy events (Something Lex Luthor would do) that could make you famous and almost guarantee CCP rename a system after you.
To be immortalized in EVE would be pretty neat, no?
But thats just crazy talk...nevermind.

I can admire your work ethic. I know I don't have that dedication...
Anyways, here's some more suggestions:
Set up some classes? Teach people or corps what you know about mining to get them going? Offer to tutor n00bs that show promise? Sponsor n00b duels, in newb ships ? Sponsor Gladiator bouts, based on specific isk limits for total value of the ship (based on the list price in the Eve-Online database)? Sponsor Tournaments (with rules and regs that you create)? Take people on tours of the universe? Make a photo guide to the Eve universe (take an iconic ship, travel to all the "kewl" areas you can think of and snap screen shots of your ship in the frame)? Buy enough shares in an NPC company to become a board member? (don't know if this is possible or if CCP will let you) Fund Neutral Space stations in 0.0 to foster expansion Build/buy a carrier and go Pirating in it!
Or you can tell us all to feck off and keep on doing what you are doing. Oh, msg me in game and I'll help out with whatever I can... organization, hauling, participation. I imagine whatever you end up doing would be pretty damn impressive... and I wouldn't mind being there to watch it all.

Anyone stating he's bored and is looking for more from the game but in the meantime says that about 99% of the time he's mining with all of his accounts doesn't need a praise but a good hard kick in the butt.
Get out there, join up with people and do stuff in a team of life ignoring proportion.
Instead of asking what the game can do for you you could start looking at it as it's intended a MULTI PLAYER game and not a solo hop on 6 accounts and just suck up every rock in range stuff.
Yes you build some stuff in 0.0 big deal, lot of corporations did that allready, but those corporations allso have to deal with defences against those that wanna kick them out or even blow up their structures.
Life in EVE is a struggle and in my point of vieuw your only struggle has been to get up and log in to mine brainlesly. I play for 2 years + aswell and I dont have to ask people what's left to do because the interaction with other people in the community is the main thrive in my gaming. Or are you even having your accounts chat with eachother.
just my 2 cents.
Ow and I don't have your cash and if I had to get it the way you did I would have stopped playing after 2 weeks.
Better to try and fail, then to fail due to not trying |

Sponsor two corporations, both nationalistic and territorial, set up shop with a neutral alt selling guns & ammo there and fuel the feud with generous grants till they can fend for themselves and start paying off.

well to be honest your saying you don't want to grind but the thing u do is grind all the way me laddy, I would say , go to the roleplay aspect of the game :P scamm people , make more money on the backs of others crash whole region markets and let manufacturers now that u owned about 25% of whole eve, what u say will be done ...
so you should aim for a powerfull job inside eve , like an eve god :P bend the markets kill everyone you don't like, let your name be feared in game :D not as a pirate but as a real evil person that could destroy lots and lots of players just by opening you're mouth

exactly, you have a bad addiction there, OP, you really need to get a life.
youve ruined your whole gaming experience by your addiction. not to mention the mass amount of cash, and the time you have devoted(6 accounts!) to this addiction. remeber the game will eventually die, as you, but life will ever have greater rewards than pixles.

Edited by: Stratigus on 30/03/2006 18:38:54 hmm..wow..Ive sometimes borrowed some friends mining accounts when the corp really needed minerals, and running 2 mining chars leaves no time for chatting, browsing or nothing else (unless macroing) so hat off for dedication and work etics.
As for being able to afford multiple accounts. Its not really hard to afford that if you got a steady job.
But I can see why a miner of this magnitude gets bored. Currently (im a newbie) ISK and lack of minerals for production is what restrict me (and skills ofcorz, but with 6 accounts thats not an issue). Having 6 miners and endless isk/minerals would probarly kill all my fun in the game since there are no real risks left for him. Loose a BS? so what..he got 2B in his account and a hangar filled to the chimney with minerals...
Ive seen ppl talk about ebay isk, and ive searched for it once just to see what it was all about...but never picked any up coz that would be the first nail in the coffin for sure.
But kudos for patience and dedication!

1) Get a lot of ISK by farming with 6 accounts. 2) Go to the Sell Orders section of the forum and find a thread like this. 3) Use the GTC to play for another month. 4) Goto step 1.
