They call this a "community" (vs going out and making friends like normal people)

They then cling to this group wherever they go, depending on the group mentality to reinforce themselves. Very clique-ish.

It's not a wonder they have so many numbers. Frats are also popular with those that want life on 'easy mode' You simply cannot deny the advantages.

In the sense that Eve is a simulator of massive geopolitical conflict it's actually pretty healthy that at some point in the game's history there's a dominant superpower. It gives a feeling of a genuine political conflict.

It is up to the players who are up to the challenge of undermining them to get their act together.

The only thing I would say is that game design should help undermine such supremacy rather than reinforce it. It's not much of a game if those of us on the outside looking in start to feel powerless and give up.
