Great news. I had RL stuff for the last month. Also the more than one fight is a really good idea. Trying to choose one is not easy. Well i my case it is... They are all where i die horribly and painfully. |

With being able to submit more then 1 fight I'll just submit one horrible terrible fight now which is unfortunately the only thing I've been able to get so far since getting a good solo engagement in a frigging armour harbinger is apparently not quite easy.
If anything it will show how terrible I am at pvp. |

This extension is great! Not only because now I can submit two more fights: The last fight I had actually ended in me getting one kill in before being blasted apart. Without the extension, I wouldn't have been able to submit this.
Yes, it may sound strange after all my posts about how incompetent I am, but the last fight actually was a lot less one-sided then I anticipated. My Caracal against a duo of Assault-frigates and my tank held just long enough to get one of them.
I'm starting to render the two videos right now and should submit them tomorrow morning. And that's enough, I think.

Or if you're not engaging a 20man gang and laughing as you pick them off with ungodly tanking or flying, it matters that you try and have fun.
Half of the purpose of this is to foster solo pvp (and to many pvp in general) among the populace.
So go out, die/kill/fly and HAVE FUN, ask questions to people who seem to know more.
And dont be afraid to submit a fight, even if you think its subpar. The value of a gift is often not in it's intrinsic value but the meaning of it.

If a person uses links, we expect more from that person than if he haven't used links. So a t1 cruiser punching above it's weight will definitely be a better fight than a linked blingy ship that stomps someone who didn't have a chance.
Some of our submissions have already shown amazing things people can do in a t1 cruiser, even from low skilled players. So it is definitely worth for anyone to give it a try.

Just as a short head's up, I just noticed while visiting family some of the links in my last submission Eve-mail don't work. As soon as I get back home I repair the damage and resend the submission mail. (Also Eve files has destroyed the audio on one of my videos, so I'll have to re-upload that file again, too.) |

Prizes are too big for this little contest. Cut them and make with that isk more than one time competition.
Run the "one man crew" every 6 months. That way, many will join along the way. |

At some points we have probably overextended this, and the initial prizepool were alot smaller as well. But on the other hand. I really want this to be big since it is Aldap's way of saying goodbye to the many solo pilots out there.
However I do not think that the large prizepool is one of the main concerns regarding the low amount of submissions. Great solofights are hard to come by and many people out there want their fight to be perfect before they submit it. And many have had the illusion that this requires a fight at super high level that only the top of the top manages to achieve. Sure, the high prizepool might have driven it in that direction, but I think the high standard that is demanded here at My EVE has a role in it as well. Likewise, people want it to be really great since people like Garmon will be judging it. Having a lower prizepool could maybe lower the high expectations, but then we might as well lose people on the other end. The people who invest alot (expensive ships, implants, links and such) would need some great prizes to motivate them as well.
The One Man Crew project is somethign that I really want to happen again. And I have already made alot of thoughts about how to improve it. Especially on how to reach out and make more people engage in it. We might use some of the leftover isk from here, but I intend to raise some isk again. The future OMC will still depend on the success of this one, so no matter what, then we have to commit on the first one.
And one more thing. This contest is larger than what you think. We have reached out to hundreds of pilots. Few contests in EVE, that requires so much from each participants, achieves that. Our main problem is still the fact that great solo fights are hard to come by and getting them can be very taxing on the participants.

I don't think the prizes put people off. I think just getting good fights are. And the one video thing. Now that is relaxed i think there should be more. I know i will be submitting end of next week and believe me i am not so good.
The other problem with fraping a fight is when you watch it again you see sooo many mistakes. |

So i finally got some solo footage. Man it was way harder than i thought it was.
Anyway, the upshot is that i had a fight that i eventually lost because i was stupid. I tried to tracking disrupt a condor! forgot to deploy drones, and of course i couldn't track him. I would have tanked the damage till i ran out of paste. I tried slingshot out of disrupter range, but i think he had links. I died...
BUT i reshipped and came back for another fight. This time i remembered drones, but he was too fast anyway. My missiles still didn't really work. But the fight went better and i got another frigate that was there. I got away.
So a cruiser for one 2M frigate. Not great. But the improvement and in the spirit of the comp (ie give it a go), i would like to submit that as one fight?
BTW i look really bad in this. I have much more respect for FC than i already had. They think of a lot of details i just forgot when solo, mostly because i was thinking of other things. |

Yeah this is exactly why people should solo or gang pvp more often. People in fleets dont realy learn big picture when you are trying to keep up with primaries...
But I just say try learn what every ships are like as condors are almost always kiting so cruisers will have bad time against it |

Not really sure if I understand you correctly, but the plan is to pick the 10 - 15 best fights and then edit it together to make 1 collective pvp video. That video will be the final product of this project, and will uploaded to both youtube, evefiles and other places.
The reason why I want to avoid youtube for the submissions is the fact that there may be a loss in the video quality. By using the original file or the compressed mp4 file, we avoid as much quality loss as possible.

I have 18M SP now and its unfocused. But in all seriousness, young characters can absolutely be good at this. Just like an older character has to die a lot to learn, so with a young one.
Just give it a go. It will make you a better pilot at the very least. |
