I have the same options others do. Bug report or petition. I prefer not to petition for such a relatively minor issue compared to the many others who are petitioning things.
I took a look around on the forums, and saw where a new patch is coming just tomorrow, and a short while ago devs were at e3 trying to get more subscribers (read that as more noob indies we can gank  ), so I believe that the old saying 'patience is a virtue' is the rule of the day for me.

Being faceless for six days longer than you, I'd rather feel unique. If the portrait isn't feasible, can I be a question mark ? No, wait, make that an ampersand. Ampersands are funky looking & all that. Or maybe a hash? It could be a joint thing with a bunch of the oldest faceless folk. But a plus sign might let us look on the positive side of things. A slash could cut our complaints down! Oh, heck, just give us the smiley face character, that's the closest thing to our actual faces. ☻
