Joking in this thread aside, I'd agree with Parm on this subject. Everyone is different in their own respect, so it's hard to guage people against eachother.
I'm really thankful for the positive comments regarding me that have been posted here, but even then I owe my inspiration to a lot of key figures in Eve from before and during my time, such as Zarquon Beeblebrox, Lord Zap, Daakkon, Tank, Tekka, Lifewire, Liu Kaskakka (change your fricking name so I can spell it) and many more.
In light of present day piracy I'd nominate Trey Azagthoth as probably the "biggest" pirate in Eve. Frankly the guy's skills with a blastertron scare the hell out of me.

My inspiration back in my youthful pirate days came from the people who made up the original gangster groups like Jokers and Space Invaders, to name the oldest and biggest.
But Eve is constantly evolving and other guys step out, while others come to the front .. almost every month it seems there's a new hot pirate crew making the rounds. I also think it is becoming more difficult to earn your place in the hall of infamy, with so many more out there trying.

can't say i've seen very many pirates, i remember when i started there was alot of huff about moo. Well there were in my mission statments thats gotta buy some kinda place in the hall of infamy.
Pirates i've most heard of recently is ripley 12, although i have her killmail in a safe spot. I remember comming under fire from tank CEO once, just the name made me run, although i warped back in later and help shoot at him befour he left then came back with friends.
oo i was also part of a hiest that trey will never forget *grin*
Funniest pirate misshap had to of been mining and a hauler came my way named IsuckAlot(or somthing), so i scooped my mins out of the jet can and left a bm in it that said suck this, he kinda sat there for 5 mins then warped off, i still have the bm, it was a good laugh. ------FD------

this is true, except for Tank, *****cat, jexter and fist and crew...they were the first 'big' names. but many dont play anymore, and those who would remember, well i think our numbers are shrinking.
but as for now? who knows? piracy has turned into gank fests... and wcs..annoying.
and, also depends on which part of space you're in.

What defines a good pirate ? I would say, how many people he/she have killed. This is the only way to measure success, since ransoming and blackmailing don't qualify. There is no use in talking about honourable pirates all that matters is ship kills wich produces loot. Forum whoring, well that's another issue. There are alot of big forum pirates out there...
I would like to give some credits to Lo3d3r / MAFIA since he is on top on both major killboards www.podbase.com and killboard.eve-extra.com

This kind of topic reflects the deep wish of humans to have a winner in a game. Unfortunatly EVE does not really support the feature to have winners.
But there are only 3 things that count: kills, kills and kills! I have to admit that Lo3d3r has a crazy ammount of kills. He must be a fanatic and stubborn farmer if he tops my kills - lol.

tiller also gets my vote for being a total nice guy too and has a huge amount of kills. Nice to see my good self getting a mention.

Why would people want a winner? If you can quantify this statement I will give you some credit but it just seems like a bit of a foolish statement.
EVE is statistical. Numbers are easy to compare. EVE has many different ways of comparing these numbers and statistics and that's why people constantly talk about it. Nothing IMO to do with winning, as one cannot 'win' EVE as such.

Don¦t ask me - nearly all games and even the olympic games have winners. You must analyse the nature of games itself to find out why humans want winners in all kind of games. I guess it¦s because it helped mankind to improve and allways keep working on improvement. Games = training. And training is good to be a better human being.

Then does that mean someone like Ginger Magian is the top guy too? I don't understand this. Since when did killing define piracy? It's so easy to kill people. Stop confusing me. Next thing you be saying is being in a megathron sniping a gate requires pvp skill.

Ok, since there is some confusion, lets change this to, who is the most sadistic person in the game? Always podkills and doesn't ransom. Ginger has a death grip on a gate travled by my Corp alot, I think it's into parts. Someone took a ***** at him yesterday and he was close to killing Ginger and scoring the 21 million isk. Well thats what my Corp buddy said, I guess Ginger warped out of the area.
But I think this gatecamping is crap, I understand defending your turf aginst invaders but if you see one rifter floating by I don't think it's going to try much. Or a mining group, even if they have a BS. This gank-fest needs to stop, it makes the game less fun to play. It's turning into WoW.
It makes sence to go after a mining troop in a belt, but jumping them at a gate is a lowley tactic. Even for a sadistic pirate. I really don't mind if I get blown to bits in space, around a belt or just ratting somewere but entering a system and not being able to get more than 20km from the gate sucks. It makes it so noobs and alot of people don't enter deepspace.
I know about the tactic's to escape a gate camp, I have my Rifter bult so it can get going 748 and still has 2 sheild extenders and 2 100mm nano's (200mm soon). I really don't like warp stabs, cause I don't know what they are. But having to outfit a ship just to travel is crap, I should be able to leave it in "ratting" trim if I am just going through .4 or .3 space to do something.
Meh /end rant/

Don¦t get me wrong - i liked the noble Jokers too...but it¦s evolution (not the corp EVOL) that decides who is successfull and who not. Jokers as example for the most noble pirate corp is quite fair, i guess. But in the end, what did they achieve? They quitted EVE because they didn¦t want to adapt.
It¦s fine to see pirates that stil ransom and we also try to do this. But in the end our ISK machine is ganking - pure brutal ganking and grabbing as much loot as we can get. This made us survive - while other pirate corps had to join alliances or had to quit EVE. So yes - only kills count. Nobody ask¦s how or when or why - a kill is fresh loot and fresh loot are ISKies to pay the bills.
Definitly yes - only kills count. The rest is only an "aura" pirate corps have.

Hrrm ok, but not the same as holding ground in a hostile area and sniping real influenctial players that belong to a faction more powerful than yours. So less tactics and influences are less applied. But that's more along the lines of "Best" than "Bigger".
If it's just based on kills. Then I guess indeed Ginger is one of the biggest pirates in the game. He has a lot of easy snipe kills. Up there with you Lifewire I believe, last time I checked anyways (5 months ago).

I don¦t have that many kills - but my corp has We are teamplayers and i don¦t care much being not killer no. 1. I know what TDG is: the last original pirate corp in EVE. That¦s enough for me to feel like a winner

Your claim is a bit thin. If I am the best sniper ever does that mean I 'win'?. No of course not, as it is not a competition. EVE is a game in the sense of it being a pastime or pursuit. The Olympics are a competition.
It seems to me that you are confusing winning and being the best at.
You might also want to take a look at the myriad of definitions of the word game.
I can see the point you are trying to make, I just feel you are phrasing it poorly or misunderstanding some of the concepts.
