Actually, usually, they don't. There is no usually about it. These kinds of malfunctions aren't a usual happening. The tend to happen more often after expansions, but compared to most, this expansion has been largely malfunction-free. If the servers are down for two hours, that represents ~.02% of total uptime for the year. It represents about 1.2% of the total week of uptime and 8% of total uptime for the day. As someone that checks his skillqueue the moment I log in every time and updates it to be at least 24 hours if necessary, I would suggest that if you had less than 2 hours left on your skillqueue, that is entirely your problem and your own fault.
You would be more deserving of compensation if a hairdresser accidentally split one end on one strand of the hair on your head than you are for this.

My mate randomly loses 6 million SP in the middle of doing PVE had t2 drones in space then recalls them to the drone bay to be told that the player do not have the skills to re-launch them again.
Another player cant right click on anything in space restarts the eve client to find that inventory not working and now cant see any ship ships in space.
Another player jumps start gate by which the system fails to visually load then after a petition of losing a ship by which after landing in a wall of nothing ness is told the player is in warp yet the player is still in transfer into the new system to discover the player ship have exploded by a pvp kill.
Many player reported issues with the UI no loading any options an audio being stuck with an endless loop in addition to a 100 percent time dilatation when not near any major nodes of traffic based players.
Others reported eve markets never loading resulting in the eve client completely freezes an fails to function anymore.
Multiple Socket Closed errors when accessing personal hanger station inventory.
Maybe this will be useful information for me as a player an listening to a group of player being very angry with the poor performance for your product patches resulting in losses which are development bug related to result in many failed petition results to later read online this is the failure for the server an programming node many will agree that something free to reimburse the player community for the endless random losses created by the technical failures from CCP not the PLAYERS is in order.
Free SP is one method yet I think that the community requires something a bit more than just a simple free SP.
Right now there are many player which cannot even load the client to update skills or click pay bill buttons or manage blueprints as well as many other eve online virtual careers.

I'll give them credit, CCP does fix things pretty quick when the hamsters come flooding out of the server room on fire.
Eve crashing sucks harder than other games due to the permanent loss, but, man....take a look at other big name games.
Coming back from a hiatus for school and other games, I can objectively say Eve and CCP have a pretty damn good track record. I think this may be due in part to a community that probably would declare actual war on Iceland should Eve permanently crash. For comparison, a far, FAR more heavily funded game is relieving the exact same issues of it's predecessor and is the reason why Battlecrash and Betafield 4 are recurring hash tags right now lol. |
