Not even close, the GPL (grandprix legends) forums/community are way ahead.
Where i came from before joining eve, completely placid for the most part.
* edit.. ohh ok, i never did everquest, my apology.
Nearly.... their was a tribes box sitting next to the eq box in game... i choose the former
Remember I said "that I" have seen.
It depends on what part of the EVE forums though.
General Discussion is without a doubt a low point.

Of course you have to bear in mind that some posts deserve a rude answer.

You reckon
GD isn't so bad, it's just where everybody posts so it gets swamped.

The most frustrating forums are definitely the General Discussion due to the uncountable amount of people posting whines and general nonesense.
Next is the Crime and Punishment filled with WCS users, griefers and general *******s. Interesting nonetheless.
While Corporation and Organizations Discussions can contain a lot of smack, nonesense, and stupid stuff, its very interesting especially if you love politics.
For me the most enjoyable one is definitely the Ships forum. Good constructive posts and some great discussions although right around this time the pirates from the Crime and Punishment forum have flooded a bit over concerning WCS, but its usually nice and "clean"

About the spelling part, is fun to note that some non-native english speakers seem to have better grammar and spelling than the natives, which is rather sad actually but hey, thats just my opinion. :P ------------------------------------------ "It is better to be feared than loved, if you cannot be both." Originally by: CONDIN I guess i dont understand why so many people in eve in general are nasty to each other. You cant even make a post within these forums stating your opinion without someone adding a nasty reply calling ya names or making fun of your grammer or something. I fail to see why there are so many nasy ugly people in eve. Everyone with a paying account has forum acess. You also have a right to post a topic but simply because your view doesnt match someone else view your called names and made fun of. Nice world this eve. Got news for ya my strenghts arent in spelling and grammar. Im an MD. Im 46 yrs old and a great number of us are strong in science and poor in writting. Just try to read your doctors notes. But dispite my 13 yrs of upper education im made fun of. People really need to pay attention to how there hurting others in this game. Everyone has feelings. People have strenght and weaknesses. We're all peopl. Now u watch and read someone wanting to be smart will start calling me a fool or moron or go for the throat.Yea they'll probley even make fun of a waste of space for such a post. But ya realize what i said is all too true!
Because you have a bunch on losers on here, who can't accept the fact that we all don't blindly follow CCP.
Real PvP is on the forums, EVE the game is just a pretty techdemo.

Edited by: Gonada on 09/03/2006 23:36:05 you wanna know why people are nasty to each other?
its becuse, at least IMHO, eve is like the last bastion of risk vs reward play, the last good game out here now where the devs dont cater blindly to the carebear fluffy crowd.
And yet, every day , I see whining people on the boards, this is too hard, that is too hard, nerf this, nerf that, waht cant i have the uber setups now, why can he have the uber setup, why didnt i get to pwn his ass, I got my ass pwned.
ect ect.
hell even today, I see a post with someone suggesting houses to decorate.... houses!! WTF are you gonna do with a house in eve besides cause hell lag, you dont even have an item to put in a house.
dumb people, carebear ideas, and totally witless whining posts bring out the worst.
IMO< if people can accept the fact that they dont need to change every friggin iota of a game to suit them, and live with doing some things the hard way, itll be better for all.
and if you dont like it, quit the bloody game, go build the game you want to play, and see how hard it is to listen to the BS that flows like a river thru here..

I agree there are a lot of people who enjoy poking fun and also that there may be a nastier element to the forums, but every forum has them and, honestly, Eve is one of the better forums I've been on.
I'd also like to point out that, in my opinion, your comments on the thread here are not exactly the right way to give your view if you want a none-aggressive response from certain quarters.
Kind regards

Actually, the most foul mouthed people are the carebears who just got blown up. Dont pidgeon hole people, it's bound to be inaccurate.
Anyway, to the OP. I'm probably one of the grumpiest farts on the boards. If you whine about crap or make stupid suggestions I'll rip them to shreads. I dont want EvE ruined by people who want the game on easy mode.
Why do some people make fun of poorly spelt / worded posts? I never do if it's obvious the person is trying / foreign / dyslexic etc
However, its obvious that some people dont have the self respect to make an understandable / presentable post yet they want respect shown to them. If they want respect then they can show me some. It's not fun when you need the Rosetta stone to decode someones post. Like Wanoah said, spellcheckers ftw. My personal opinion is that your post falls into the latter category by the way. Doctors write untidily, not inaccurately or poorly.

maybe u need to reevaluate ur selfesteem or somthing =============================================== sig.. |

EVE (in game and out) is lightyears ahead of all of the others games i've ever played when it comes to maturity and intelligent discourse. _______________________________________________

Rofl!
Doh, you've made me a necro. I just had to post a roflwaffle in your other thread. :)
"we have laws" Delusional nonsense I say.
The flames you get on these forums (aside from the annoying cheerleading by a certain majority of CCP) are issues that are quite valid to flame you over.
Taking grammar for an example, it is an English speaking forum. We expect at least an attempt at producing easy-to-read posts on your behalf. If you are incapable of doing so, then you do not belong on these forums. Talk with your corp mates in the game to get game hints and tips, or take it upon yourself to learn English a little better, It will only benefit you in the long run in real life anyway, so it is worth investing a little of your time into it.
We dont ask for perfect prose, just readable and easy to understand posts. We can even cope with the odd spelling mistake or two, and I've no doubt that I have probably made a few during writing this post, but I would say in my defence that my post is more legible than most on here.
Also if your 46 years old, I fail to see any signs in your post that suggest this. Taking "txt-spk" for example, my parents certainly wouldnt use "u" or "ya", and I have to say I dont know of many people over the age of 20 who would either, unless they are in a pinch and need to fit it into a limited number of characters. ----- Memorable Quotes <Jarltan Dimtras> OH MY GOD MY GF IS A DUDE |

True that's nothing that hasn't been said before but it would be very short-sighted to assume today's youth are no worse than 10-20-30 years ago.
I know when I was 20something I didn't think it would be fun to burn down a bunch of churches.

EVE forums are actually quite nice and helpful, with lotsa nice people attending. You want a perfect example of a forum thats NOT nice, helpful, and where 90% of the posts have been crap check out SWG: A kindergarten divided. I spent quite a lot of time there when I played the game, but when the NGE launched the forums where so bad that the Mods LOCKED DOWN parts of it! There where so many nasty posts there, and if they had banned all that where breaking the post rules, no gamers would be left! So they decided to let the players cool down and shut down the many sub forums :)
Reason for NGE: Players had complained to SOE that the game where too bloody difficult!!
So, when many new players come to these forums and complains that the game is too diffcult.. you cant expect much understanding from the vets of this game.
I am also a new player myself. 3-4 months old now. Lots of things still to learn. Lots of things to experience. Even when it comes to game mechanics! But this is all part of the fun! All part of the game which makes it so great! And if people actually took the time to look into it, they would see the beuty to function in a world that you cant learn and master within a week!

Fallacious logic. YOU are not every 20something.
The youth of today are not to blame. the zygotes, fetus', infants and children they become are not somehow lacking in morals in comparison with earlier generations. The people that have them and teach them, however, are responsible.
Every generation has had their delinquints. sure, some liberal arts white-boys burned down a few churches. no one was hurt. 60 years ago, organized men burned down churches, burned crosses and hung people of a darker shade of skin color than themselves. Given the chioce, i'd rather have todays 'problems'.

Getting in peoples faces and poking them in the electronic eye are all parts of life (esspecally if those said people are unable to in RL cos of being physically weak, unempowered (is that a word ?) at work/school etc or constrained by the laws of the society they live in).
This is where those people can do battle in a more open and level playground, and I chose that word for what it is, and the end result is that if you dont like the game dont stick your hand up to join the team.

If you want a serious example of drama, I can provide an mp3 from my WoW days of a vent conversation of us when we confronted our then guild leader about his dictatorship and pilfering most of the items out of our guild bank. which none of the other officers had access too. as a matter of fact, before the thread was deleted by GMs for "foul language and overall nastiness" that's a direct quote i got in an email when i complained, it had over 57,546 view with 5,489 replies. by far the largest thread ever on the forums.
but seriously, if you want to see some really rude nasty people look at wow. coming from there to here, and yes i still play both when i have the time, it's a truly refreshing place and experience.

I can't believe how pretictable the mean & nasty peoples are. It's so boring to see the same old nasty comments and is so easy for me to skip to the next post. Why do they post these mean comments? Who the hell knows *shrugs* What I do know is, if your going to be mean & nasty on the forums, actually make it intertaining as all the old insults are way past there used by date.

speaking of insults, how many people here know each other? if everyone says yes, then your delusional, or maybe i am.
simple truth is that most people are typing really fast so that they can reply to as many posts as they possibly can, maybe, just maybe cuz they wanna help out other people (its possible). while i can't say i know what their reasons may be for spending hours at a time replying to forums (i don't even know why i do it), i must pat those people on the back who keep the forums alive.
without these people (postatutes, i call them) that dilligently spend hours of each day keeping forums alive, we would not have anyone to poke fun of for bad grammer, but more importantly, i would never get any responses to my questions.
so, poo on you and all those who think that they are king sh!t of the forums just because you read the odd one and find some hole in it to pick away at. get your feckin arses in gear and put in the dedication that the other hard working postatutes do, and maybe the only thing you'll be able to laugh at then is yourself.
