This can apply to a certain ship, or a ship line in general. I know a couple of people who swear by certain ships, or have one ship that's been with them since near the start, and hasn't died yet. Either because it's lucky, or they won't take it out of their hangar .
Personally, the Megathron has always been something that I've aspired for, since I saw Trey Aza-something's(Sorry, Trey ) using blasterthrons in his movies.

Oh, and maybe a reason why you like a certain ship or something would be cool too, just curious.
For me, besides the Mega looking so cool, is that going up to like 1.5km a second, in a BS, and then just wracking up insane amounts of damage in a Blasterthron has always just makes me smile.

Edited by: Andy Bartfeldt on 24/03/2006 07:34:52 I still have my trusty Stabber(Phoenix I), Punisher(Oceanus) and Condor(Metis). All have been around for over 1.5 years, taken the Punisher into low-sec and 0.0 to fight npcs, pvp and explore systems. Used to be able to run dual-mwd's forever on the Punisher and my Condor was able to run L2 missions too, been through some tight situations with them all though.
Damn those were the good ol' days.

Gonna stick in that and skill up to a Damnation, and I'm not even Amarr.
I do have to admit, I've become completely attached to the BattleCruiser line of ships (I like em more than battleships, though with the amarr, I do miss using drones).

Me too. Ive been trying to figure out why i feel that battlecruisers are cooler than battleships, but havent really come to any good reason. They just are.
Also recently noticed that command ships are Elite battlecruisers. This makes them hot. --- "Automatic override. Manual control overridden by autopilot. Please wait for operation to complete. You can override the automatic autopilot override in 28 seconds. Then you can make it wait" |

I've got sentimental attachment to my first ever frig. It was a tristan and I saved up for it on my own from n00b status.
Somehow almost 2 years on, I still have it and even though its just a few pixels I would never ever sell it. No matter how much I was offered. Needless to say, I don't fly it

I got a funny one:
I love my Cormorant.
Although the Destroyers are not as good as they should be, the cormorant was the first ship I had that was able to kick butt in lvl 1 and lvl 2 missions, when I started lvl3 missions it was not strong enough to last (before the RmR patch).
I still have the ship, also was the ship I got my first PvP ship-kill (was doing mission in 0.4 space and was attacked), I thing the guy in the other ship was surprised at the damage T2 guns do from the cormorant
My second favorite has to be the Ferox, I lost my first one helping a friend doing lvl 4 missions in it. But still flying the second one I purchased. I like it better than my Raven but that is just I think the Ferox/Cormorant are nice looking ships.

I'm very very attached to my Jaguar. It was bought for me as a gift shortly after they came into the game and I've flown it more than all my other ships combined. It's where I feel safest has never ever let me down - it's taken me through everything from level 4 missions to pirate gate camps.
I'm also very attached to my Thrasher, although the one I currently have isn't the first - that one was taken from me by a particularly crappily-timed internet hiccup. I was so angry with that... but the replacement has been just as fun and I get a real kick out of flying something with all teeth and no hide, especially up against ship types it's meant to be weak against (elite frigates and crisers).
Lastly I think my Firetail is sweet but I've not really done much with it because 1) I haven't yet got it fitted the way I'd like and 2) I got it when it was still 90mill for the 1-run BPC so I'm not keen on having it blown up from under me...
-----
Just because you couldn't get a ship to do what you wanted doesn't mean it's a crap ship - it means you're a crap pilot of that ship.

I have a cyclone in my hangar that i am attached to. its the third cyclone i own, the first got blown up in a belt when i was suddenly called afk for a rl emergency. the second was ganked by a bastard player in a losec belt. the third i named HMS CrapTastic because the cyclone sucked at the time, i was just stubborn insisting to fly them ;-) then the red moon rose, and i had to rename HMS CrapTastic to Mr. T. It stood up to that name very nicely, and has been a great earner until me graduating to battleships made it obsolete. It now occupies the prime honor spot in my hangar, right next to my third trasher Li'l RatBastard the 3rd. On its other side sits Shai Hulud III, a typhoon, that superseded Mr T as my lvl3 mission runner. It does them quicker, but just doesnt cut it on lvl4 missions, which i do with my tempest, Scrapheap Challenger II. Those are my most noteable ships, and I love them all

I love Cerbs and Eagles and Crows and Taranises and Harpies and Ishkurs and Enyos .... but they all die too often
2 ships I have had long enough to get attached are:
1) My lvl 3 mission Moa I had in my first 3-4 months in Eve. Amzing pve ship. Even when I started using a Ferox and lost it due to stupidity on the first spawn of a storyline kill mission I went back with the Moa and finished the mission and collected the Ferox's can... he those where the days.
2) My fleet Mega dies to NBSI in fleet combat in begginign of September 2005. Its replacement has seen vast amounts of action and its still hanging there (with enough ducttape to be a minnie ship all over it) past the second renewal of it's insurance. I guess now its primary (I have a big mouth dont I?)

The HMS Dalek III (yes, lame Dr. Who reference). The third Manticore I¦ve flown still exists. I lost the first two pretty fast, but this one has yielded about 30 frig kills without losing it in pvp. It¦s still parked in my hanger.

Well so far I'm rather attached to my Cyclone. I lost several ships up to this point.. but never my Cyclone. The thing that I like about this ship is the versatility that it has.. reasonable drone bay.. missles.. and a variety of gun choices.
And to expand on a comment someone previously made. The reason I like BC's is that they are inbetween. they have a chance against battleships if set up properly, and they are not so large that elite frigates get a free pass. I had an encounter yesterday, where a rifter and an elite frigate attacked me while I was ratting. I sent the rifter to the happy hunting ground in under a minute.. and hit a standoff with the elite frigate. He couldn't bust my tank.. but I couldn't bust his.. Poor ammo at the time.. good for the rats but not setup for him. anyway eventually I just warped out as I was burning up all my ammo and getting nowhere.. or so it seemed. I consider that a small victory as I wasn't killed.. as a relative noob I take the crumbs that come my way.

I've always liked the Arbitrator for it's sleek look. I've owned a few, but I've never been able to find a comfortable setup - it's underpowered and underarmed,. I've always found drone operation to be a hassle. Also, it's had a few clipping errors since the game's launch that CCP apparently can't be bothered to fix.
I also like the Cyclone, although I've never flown one. It has the look and feel of a battleship, imho.
I'm currently flying my Malediction interceptor, another lovely ship. It looks sleek and fast, it is sleek and fast. It's my desktop background both at work and home (as the sun breaks over a magma planet in the background.) :)
Lastly, in the non-combat realm, I think the Sigil is a sweet looking Indy - if only it had a decent-sized cargo hold. I use a Mammoth to get the job done - perhaps my oldest and most-used ship of all. It has an intimidating size and appearance which belies it's peaceful nature.

I've always had quite the romance with the thorax platform. My favorite is the Vigilant, and I do tend to hang onto my Vigilants long enough to get attached to them as individual vessels. Deimos is terrific, of course, but it's a bit of a joke among my peers how I can never seem to keep one alive for longer than a week...

I'm attached to my ferox :)
A corpmate made it for me and I frantically trained up for it. Its been on level 3 storylines with corp mates, and 40 jumps into period basis for months at a time, before helping me level up through level 2 missions for the caldari navy. Now its back out in 0.0 doing another tour of duty.
From jumping through A2 with 3% structure left on it, to killing a 1.3million BS rat its stuck with me throughout. Its insurance has been renewed on it several times now, and its been repackaged and moved and taken across the entire galaxy several times.
Kept pretty much the same setup on it but the shield tanking has gotten better on it. Hi's would be a mix of 250 rails, heavy missiles and assaults. 5 lights in the drone bay lows used for anything from damage mods to overdrives and nanos, even an armour rep for repairing dents I get on it in 0.0.
Lovely ship, and has been named HMS Wibblebottom. ----- Memorable Quotes <Jarltan Dimtras> OH MY GOD MY GF IS A DUDE |

It has to be the Thorax line, currently have Thorax's setup and ready to go, the one I am flying the most 'Affront' is giving me lots of fun, however 'Gunboat Diplomat' in empire has seen a few kills as well.
I have a Vigilant (+ 5 backups, all bought pre RMR) and a Deimos although skilling up to make the best of both, crusier level 5 x 2 for the Vigilant, however the Thorax I feel does give the best bang for the buck.

My second Ferox. Used it for lvl3 missions. The first one went up in flames quick, but the second made me a ton of money and could tank well enough to AFK any mission.
Sadly, when BoB took over JU- in Dek, I refitted it for PvP and ran it right through one of their gatecamps like a dumbass. Couldn't believe how fast it vaporized.

I tought of making a garage for it somewhere after i killed Jasmine Constantine with it(ok some ppl helped, but i got her to structure with domi), but then i took a break, forgot about the idea and when i got back i killed 2 RISK bs at the same time (yay thron + pest). Then i got some ego boost and took it down south somewhere and killed few bs with it and took final trip to I3Q... There i killed machariel & mega & cerb & cynabel at the same time (they came 2 by 2 :P) ... however i got even bigger ego boost and got ganked 15mins later :P
After that, domi is something i lose on daily basis haha...

I've got my original Thorax, now over two years old. It's going to be relegated to a museum piece soon. I just need to figure out how to sell tickets.

I only have one ship that's ever endeared it's self to me.
My first(and still only) malediction, it's been though any number of engagments.
It's limped out in structure and held up to tell the tale a zillion times, I've got nearly 1/2 of all my involvments with this single ship.
It's also cursed, it's been fitted with faction gear loot, and when I've move the equip to other ships they promptly die. :( ====

i dont get tied to ships, i fly cheep and cheery frigs, i regularly lose 2/3 a day.
saying that though, i have a very nice 0.0 rifter for tanking battleships etc. oooh, and i got a rifter that has struggled through for a while that i use to help my mate on lvl 4 missions (3 x gyrostabiliser 4TW), but its only been alive a week... is that long enough to get attached to it?

I had a rifter named Fearless that survived flying as a tackler in 3 huge fleet battles before the target painter nerf, back when every tempest spent all his time trying to insta-pop tacklers at 100km rather than shooting the primaries. I was pretty attached to her.
Then I lost it in a duel with a corp mate. I cried. +++
It's called "low security space" for a reason. |

Edited by: Alec Refin on 26/03/2006 13:31:00 Kraft, definitely Kraft.
It's a Condor class Frigate I've had for, well.. more or less since I started playing o.o I'll be upgrading it to a Crow soon, but it'll still be Kraft, just even faster XD Oh and of course switching it to using rockets instead of light missiles...
That's my thing I guess, speed... 'once took out an NPC megathron, it just couldn't get a hit in o.o
Oh yeah, and the fact that Condor chassis looks oddly cool using laser weapons ^^; *has to have at least one laser turret*
.. Ick it posted as the wrong alt. *is Arin Fensfield*

Gonna stick in that and skill up to a Damnation, and I'm not even Amarr.
I do have to admit, I've become completely attached to the BattleCruiser line of ships (I like em more than battleships, though with the amarr, I do miss using drones).
Yeah I got a certain fondness for the Prophecy as well. It was the first ship that I flew which I got to tank reliably.

I love my Ferox. It's a beautiful ship. It survived a couple of gate camps, including one with around 20 hostiles on the other side of the gate, where I thought I'm dead because the Ferox is very slow to start warping and I had no stabs but I got out unharmed.
I'm a leaf on the wind. Watch how I soar. |

I still have my original Ibis from June 2003 and DAMN! is that ship still the sex. It's the ship I learned to love EVE in, so it does have sentimental value.
My favorite ship is the Stabber. Not sure why. Too much cheap fun i guess.

My Caracal
Used her to earn the cash for my Raven (I skipped Battlecruisers) by doing lvl 2 missions.
She never let me down and did the hard missions like the pre-nerf technological secrets with ease even with my low sp.

Edited by: Diicc Tater on 27/03/2006 09:30:59 Recenntly descovered T2 fitted Punisher. Totaly usefull and luvable. Had a crow for 4 fleet battles, old Battlescar even survived engagement with Farscape (I had to warp out, was getting spanked)!
Top 5 luv list:
1: Retriever (Damn, I miss mining!!!) 2: Raven (Rats Ph3ar my raven) 3: Caracal (fun in fleets) 4: Manticore (Cruiselaunchers on a frig!!) 5: Punisher (the name is enough!)
The crow was the only ship I got attached to...usually I lose them fast and furiously.
