I have read the backstory and am curious about something. Why are there no Jovians? At least you can not make a Jovian character.
Is this something planned for a future expansion? Is there a story that explains why you can not play as a Jovian?
If there is a place where this is explained i apologize for not seeing it.

As i understand it is not planned to allow Jove chars or access to Jove space while they still exist. The only Jove are GM's and the the only Jove ships are piloted by GM's
It might be that the Jove die out. Access might then be "found" to their space and all that juicy technology they have.

^not likely. General consensus between players is that Jove is the "race" for GM's and anyone in CCP, to not only distinguish themselves as CCP, but to also explain why they have such uberwtfpwning power, in both a normal MMO perspective, an an RP perspective.
It would also allot for why there are so few Jovians that show up (GM/CCP staff) considering the mentioned Jovian disease. -

My idea is that the Jovians are planning or maybe even implementing the first stages of a galaxy-wide invasion (EVE-a-geddon).

also a reason for the rare sightings of the joves is as you might read it, that because they collect every intel around they mostly travel cloaked and their cloakings are far better than every buyable cloak on the market.

Jovians don't really have an intrest in conquest. They are so heavily modified they are driven by fairly non-human drives apparently. -------------- Director. Caldari Patriot. Murderer of (his own) Frigates. |

this isn't quite true. only CCP staff are Jove characters. sometimes the aurpra events group with do jove events, but i think they are super rare. GM's are GameMasters and use normal characters.
and before anyone replys to my post asking when there out etc etc can i be a jove etc etc. i really have zero information about the jove race other than they are ulgy looking.

During the Vegas convention Q&A there was go around about Jove characters. From Oveur's reaction, we won't be seeing the Jove as players (if ever) for years.

Maybe we should never see the Jovians as player characters but it would be nice to be able to travel into Jovian space etc.... where the possibility of finding there high spec equipment bpc's etc may be possible (like those which are currently available through the Cosmos agent's). If the Jovian space is never going to be introduced into the game I think it would be wrong. They are supposidly the reason why we are all here in the first place so to see some higher interaction either mission based or whatever would bring a new ethos into the game. Rather than just the coveted CCP WTFBOOM machines we see on the test servers ..........
Mc
P.S. I want one of those frigs PVP would never be the same again ........

Going off on a tangent for a minute. I've often wondered whether there are other civilizations out there apart from the humans in eve. I think it would be great if a non human race was introduced into the game. Maybe not to create characters with, because you would need a whole new set of skill types, but as npcs and agents, or like the rogue drones. They could come out of nowhere and attack weary travellers or decimate entire fleets.
I just think it would add a bit more mysticism to the game, a new unknown alien species...que the music from the Twilight Zone.

For some reason I was thinking that they would eventually allow players to evolve into Jovians. Maybe if they maxed all the possible skills or something.
I think I read that somewhere, but it's equally possible that I pulled it out of my rear.
I only know of two Jovians: TomB and Valar

Hmm, so if only CCP staff are allowed to have Jovian characters, does that make the susceptible to the dreaded Jovian disease??? If so, I would hate to see Eve die out due to their deaths of chronic depression. So if CCP are listening out there...
Some things in life are bad, They can really make you mad, Other things just make you swear and curse, When you're chewing life's gristle, Don't grumble, Give a whistle And this'll help things turn out for the best. And...

If life seems jolly rotten, There's something you've forgotten, And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing. When you're feeling in the dumps, Don't be silly chumps. Just purse your lips and whistle. That's the thing. And...

Life's a piece of ****,(excrement) When you look at it. Life's a laugh and death's a joke it's true. You'll see it's all a show. Keep 'em laughing as you go. Just remember that the last laugh is on you. And...

If Jovians were to become playable to an extent. I think that only the more experienced RP-ers of the community would/should be capable of using them to progress the game.
I'd love to vote anybody into that position, but I'd personally not like to be Jove. They're ugly as sin; most have their agression removed; they reproduce using in-vitro, and did I mention they were ugly?
I'd love to fly Jovian ships, but only if the Jove figured Meb deserved to fly one.
Mmmmm wraith.....

I was poking around in the EVE FAQ and I came across this:
"The races in EVE are all of human origin, though they have evolved and some have been genetically altered until they have become quite distinct in appearance and characteristics. Players may choose to portray a character from four of the five races in EVE. These are: Amarr, Caldari, Gallente and Minmatar. Each race branches off into two bloodlines. The fifth race, Jovian, is unavailable to players at this time, though players will be given the opportunity to evolve into Jovians in the future." ------------------------ The Almighty says this must be a fashionable fight. That FAQ is about three years old, and severely outdated. They've stated multiple times that they have no intention to bring Jovians in as a player race, ever.

If you wanna know why you can't access Jove space, read Theodicy in the short stories section. Links in with the chronicle story of the Amarr fleet getting wtfpwned by the Joves. I found it a VERY good read :)
For the lazy who can't be a**ed readind, the Joves destroyed their own stargates and cut themselves off from socity to stop themselves from being manipulated by "The Order" and to fight them... or something... Eh Just read Theodicy :)

truly i think that the devs should make a super top secret portal, stargate, or something to get to jove space. Something that you would have to quest for, and find on your own, finding clues to the portals whereabouts. Someway to get to jove space, otherwise it would be the most useless part of EVE. I actually believe there is a way right now to somehow reach jove space, but it requires extremely time consuming insight. like i said it would be pointless to create jove space and not be able to access it. And if you found the way into jove spaceyou would be marked down, and if an information leak was found on how to reach jove space your accounts would be deleted. in addition to seeing jove space you would be granted incredible technology, aka jove bs, skills, jove modules. all the stuff that couldnt be sold either. just an idea
