someone made me think about this earlier =)
well, i think that unless anyone found a Caldari Navy Raven, ive got a good chance at this: i found a comet drifting in orbit of an (rp) important planet =)
so, what ships have you found drifting and subsequently "appropriated"? ;)

I found a can with a Cruor BPC in a belt in .2 system. Someone obviously didnt bother to check the cans after killing NPCs.

A corpmate of mine found this about a year ago when I was in TEKNO, abandoned below the station in Emrayr.
Raven, fitted with:
High: 4x Heavy Missile Launcher I, 4x Miner II
Medium: Small Shield Booster I, Micro Shield Extender I
Low: Co-Processor I

Caracal but couldn't pick it up back then and I didn't bother to tell anyone in local or anywhere else for that matter.

a cruiser. didn't have the skills to fly it though.. so had to destroy it.
just followed a guy who kept changing from an indy to a cruiser to a planet, cheked the different moons and eventually found his cruiser.
the reson i wanted to kill it was because this guy was stealing my ore. and whenever i tried to fire back he went and got his cruiser and well, didn't stand a chance against that. but i guess i cost him a few mill, atleast it cost him more than he stole from me

NPC'ers that think its safe to do so \o/
I also find giant secure cans in space alot using old school safespot busting methods, sometimes its just ammo dumps, other times it's cans filled with faction loot.

Well the Crow was just after scan probes.
Mos of the rest I scanned down were in deep 0.0 in highly negative systems. Probly make the ship's cost back in NPCing in a few hours so it seems a deacent risk. (Well, not to me, but...)

A lonely scorpion with t2 fitting on a mid-safe between two stellar objects.
( Got by using the system scanner and repeatedly bookmarking mid-warp at the right places, since I just noticed it on a sight-seeing tour with my stiletto. )
My corp mate found 5 covetors on safe a few days ago. Was also nice.

K no safespot is safe,
I have the complete list of stuff i have picked up at home but here i can from memory
1 Safespot i busted had
9 haulers 10 Cruisers ~ 4-5 frigates
Battleships i've found?
3 Apocs
6 Geddons
~10+ ravens
2 scorps
5 Megas
1 Domi
3 Tempests.
Ohh it gets better

well iddient find this but my old corp mate did. Some noob corp left a dread parked at a ss in 0.0 my corp mate got a covertops and found the ss told a alliance member who can fly it and well alliance tookt he dread :) bets i ever found was a navy caracal some one just left by a stargate it was damaged to hull but hell i still put it to some good use

i found a crow with a domination disruper, caldari navy BCS and about 5 faction warp scramblers in the hold at the sun in V-IH one time
another time i was in rens in a pod cos i was relieved of my ship, i warped to a random planet and saw a frig (ibis) jumped into it and in the cargo founf a cyclone and ferox BPO and loads of prophecy runs still have the cyclone BP in rens if anyone wants to buy it
