Edited by: L33t Sphere on 05/05/2006 20:23:06 I was recently in Ravarin, and I was pirating...so I shot someone, eventually letting him go. His corpmate challenged me to a 1 verse 1. This corp mate is Max Ryko(for those who want to kill him). He comes in a Celestis, keeps me jammed, but my Valks are taking him down. He warps out, but not before his friend in a Battlecruiser warps in. I warp out because I figure if they warped in a BC, then they wouldn't mind warping in more.
Needless to say this guy is prime on my hitlist now, but what gives with all this idiocy?
EDIT:This isn't the first time. Every 1v1 I've had in the past month has ended this way. |

Same thing happened to me last night, I hit a undefended 6 barge mining group and killed a Covetor before they warped out :). Was setup for NPCing and had no jammers on, but was able to gank it before it got to warp.
8 month old player challenges me when I'm waiting for the timer to cool, and the fool I am, I accept. Bam. -1 Cyclone to a host of cruisers and inties I could probably have taken had the fool not been jamming me.
My own fault, but I'm not terribly worried about the loss of the ship. Had some fun when the miners started scattering like ducks, though. If I had come in in a Tempest with two or three scrams I would have a load of fun ransoming them.

Violating a 1v1 is one of the most stupid and dishonorable things you can do in EVE, its like blowing someone up after they pay the ransom. Bad form. I would kick anyone who did it from a corp I was leading.

Kind of curious, assuming that most of you are pirates you would consider most other scams or dishonorable actions just part of the game and if someone came into crime and punishment complaining about getting scammed on an escrow deal... jumped by a pirate kill squad while mining or any other number of things that can go wrong at best they get a sucks for you be more careful next time to any number of variations of its part of the game or its your fault.
So now... why would you expect 1v1 offers to have any less chance of being a scam than anything else?
Not that I would do it... not that I would even have the guns to do it if I wanted to but it is a bit of hypocrisy to whine about getting scammed on a 1v1 when you don't see a problem with pirating or any other dishonorable aspects of the game where the enjoyment of someone else is coming at the cost of your own.
The only difference is this time you are the person losing something you wanted.

Get over it.
It happens all the time esspecally from "anti" pirates who can do 3 or 4 vs 1 cos pirates are bad so they deserve it anyway.

Well, I arranged a fight with one guy who was stalking me after I popped his rifter. He came to my home system and sat by my station. Well, I convoed him and asked him if he was looking for a rematch. He said he did, warped to a planet, and waited. He had a veteran corpmate in system, so I called in a corpmate as well. He was in a spanking new rifter, I was in an omen. I warp to the planet, he's there, i engage with my omen, my corpmate comes in with a kestrel and starts pounding on him. Now, even though this is totally reasonable for many reasons; he never asked for 1v1, he had a corpmate in system, the omen would've bbq'd the rifter anyway, however, his corpmate wen't awol and his rifter was popped in solitude. I still feel kinda sleazy about it.

I have engaged in probably about 7-10 duels and have never been betrayed. I think that I have been extremely lucky when dueling though when hearing about these broken duel threads.

You're a murderer, not even a proper pirate, unless you ransom people for money or loot. In any case, you're a dishonorable criminal, and you expect people to be straight up with you when offering to fight you? The police aren't going to offer you a one on one and mean it, they'll have 20 guys around the corner waiting to jump you.
While it is dishonorable of someone to say they want to duel you and then violate the rules of a duel, you reap what you sow mate. :) ----- CEO, Astrum Contract Services Group "Through the Endless Night of Space" |

Highsec is this strange, far off place where people concern themselves with unimportant things and put way too much value on silly, pointless rules. If you want to kill your enemy, simply draw a bead and shoot him in the skull.

Ransoming is a luxury. Only time a pirate of old ransomed is when he kidnapped a noble or someone else of importance but not the ship.null Casus belli |

you travel find a lone target, attack out of the blue 5 of your targets friend appear and kill you, Crap a trap. Oh well smart trap perhaps.
You challenge someone to a duel, they accept and trap you again.
There is no honor in lying cheating, stealing or murder. The borders for what people find acceptable is moved constantly as they feel someone else violated the unwritten rules against them the last time.
In eve there is two types of people, its your friends the ones you can trust and enjoy to play with. And there is strangers. Now this might come as shock to you but every stranger in eve is a lying cheating murdering bastard, if they dont use the current toon to do it with be sure they use an alt or a different account for it.
there is no honor in eve, there is isk and when all comes down to it thats what matters ISK. cause if you have a lot of it then you have a lot of friends people you can depend on and trust. And the others? Well every single stranger in eve is maybe not murdering or cheating, but every stranger in Eve would take your isk without blinking if given the chance.
one VS one? Sure! I promisse i wont bring many friends, just enough to ensure my victory. Cause thats what eve is about numbers the ones with the highest number wins, it might be isk or it might be skill points but its still numbers.

It's funny to me why people ask for 1v1's in space. The only time I get asked 1v1's is when my enemy see's my ship first. Then suddenly local is filled up with new combat pilots asking for duels. We should all know by now that the only time people want a 1v1 is when we know we can't lose. For all of you who don't think that way and seriously will honor it, then leave! Noone should be that simple :P
*Famine warps into alliance 0.0 system* *40 people in local* Famine Aligher'ri > I smell sheep Alliance Member 1 > Hey Famine Alliance Member 2 > I pnz u m0mz Alliance Member 3 > hahah 2rue *Famine uncloaks and warps to a planet in front of some people* Alliance Member 2 > Fa0mi2nes fight me Alliance Member 2 > 1v1 Famine Aligher'ri > I would but your grammar has defeated me already! Alliance Member 3 > hahah he wuld pwnz u Alliance Member 3 > come on fight us *Famine notices 7 inties hugging all the gates* Famine Aligher'ri > I'm exploring, I don't want to fight such skilled pilots Alliance Member 2 > m0re skillzed than u Alliance Member 2 > 1v1 us Alliance Member 2 > me Famine Aligher'ri > ... Alliance Member 3 > he is chicken Alliance Member 2 > y2eah Famine Aligher'ri > .... Alliance Member 2 > 1v1 me Alliance Member 5 > FOR THE LOVE OF GOD FIGHT HIM FAMINE! Alliance Member 3 > rofl what a nub Alliance Member 3 > Famine is a sheep Famine Aligher'ri > Ok, I'll fight you if you tell me your ship Alliance Member 2 > Thora3x Famine Aligher'ri > But im in a claw........ Alliance Member 3 > What a nub my inty can sm0ke a thorax Famine Aligher'ri > ................................. *Famine has self destructed his pod in memory of what alliances use to be*
This log was faked but it's pretty similar to everywhere I go I swear!*
Hehe my impression of 1v1's and why you should never honor them or accept them because it's just not worth it!

You're funny. Let me just tell you something. You trap people with fake duels, and warp in with 5 other ships. Not only are you dis-honorable for someone who probably claims to be defending the innocent of EVE, but...Do the ends justify the means? ------------------------------ i79.photobucket.com/albums/j152/XTheChairmanX/Hey-You.jpg[/IMG]
