If there are new drone skills I hope they are just splitting pre-existing drone skills like they did for destroyers/battle cruisers or what has already been pitched for future drone skills.

(Considering Geckos will stay expensive faction drones, even if we suddenly can find Gecko BPCs somewhere in Gurista-space. If we can't, every drone lost will drive the price up since there is no replacement. Which makes a mass-deployment like with sentries a really bad idea.)

They also said that there will be some goal(s) for us to work towards to unlock more. No clue if that means we might be able to unlock a way to produce them or continue to acquire them. I for one really hope this type of drone becomes a normal thing. they're very cool.

It'd still be better than ogre2s, but not absurdly so.
