I'm angry. Furious perhaps, but angry at the very least.
Why am I angry you ask? Let me explain.
I'm a Network Administrator in my real life occupation, I and 2 other staff who report to me as their senior Administrator am resposible for a network comprising of 13 Servers and 350 or so Laptops and Desktops. I support everything from Windows 2003 Standard and Enterprise Servers running SQL 2000, Exchange 2003, Interbase, IIS, IAS, Firewall 1, and many many more technologies to varying degrees of competence (I'm certainly not an expert in everything..)
So when I deal with one of CCPs tech support staff who tells me that my Crash to Desktop problem is my connection, using some ping plotter results that I sent in showing the occasional 10% or so packet loss (ICMP Packet loss I might add) on my net connection as evidence - I get mad.
When I can go to the Known issues of these forums and see many people having the same Issue as I and all being told the same thing by said tech support, I get mad. When I have explained that I run 2 accounts from seperate machines and that they never drop at the same time (Except when tranquility crashes) and I still get told its "Your machine" or "Your connection" I get mad.
When no other application / game, including other MMORPGs gives me anything like these issues and I still am being told that somehow "Its your machine" "Its your connection" - I get mad.
CCP Tech support need to wake up to the fact that there is a problem causing CTDs on many EVE clients, and it is **** obvious to anyone who knows how to do basic troubleshooting that the issue is not in fact "Our Machines, or "Our Connections" in what I would say is most cases.
CCP I'm not going to act like some Massiah IT guru who knows everything, I don't. What I do know is that these issues have nothing to do with my machines, or for that matter - my internet connection. As stated I am a Network Professional and it is with this consideration that I emplore you to investigate this, as right now you're shunning your own community members on a support issue that IS game breaking for them.

You don't have 10k for a shuttle? You must have lost alot to those CTDs.
And yes, I've been having this CTDs problem also. It doesn't happen that often, but I don't remember having this problem two months ago. I think all this CTDs problem started after that small hardware upgrade. Anyone else can recall how long we've been having this problem?

Hey, I have a dual core PC and am getting CTD'd all the time by Eve, no other game (not even bug ridden BF2) manages to CTD on me.
I've tried everything on the forums (affinity etc) to no success. It usually happens to me when changing environments (station-space, system-system etc).
I really wish they'd release some official comment on these forums.
Spec in case anyone is interested...
X2 4200+
2GB dual channel RAM
Win XP Pro all latest updates
7800GTX (driver is latest WHQL)
Creative X-fi
Internet: Plusnet 2mb+ 30:1 connection etc

yes, i also got this on several ocations.. lemme explain one of them in detail:
i got a crash to desktop on both my characters at the same time (usually it's not syncronised at all) and instantly tried to reconnect to the server as i was in the middle of a lvl 4 mission at the time this ocurred.
I was denied and i didn't even get the funny little info note right next to my login stuff on the client window which i usually get ( you know the one saying version 3. something or whatever when it should really be less than 1.0 cause it's not even stable yet)
So i checked the route to the server to see if something was down along the way with tracert and other tools but nothing was.. i got full speed all the way to the server adress. The website, however, was down yet ocationally i got the funny little version note and number of players connected and lo and behold, 20k players were connected. To no avail did i try to connect from 17:30 to about 23:00 GMT+1 time before i finally got through.
Coincidence? this is only one of many such 'coincidences' but they seldom last this long and to this level of severety, but clearly something is very very very wrong with the game/the client or both.

It "might" be between where you are at and England or Iceland or were ever the servers at
I have also noticed a higher then average CTD in this latest build aswell as some corpies
I hope we have an answer soon.
... you will see more and more marketing which in turn will bring you more players to torture. |

If you are that convinced that your system, have you ever left the logserver running in the backgound so if a CTD occurs you can actually bug report it?
The bug fixy people cannot read your mind nor your hard disk. Nor can they techy dudes just leave clients at their end logged in waiting for a CTD (could be a hardware issue).
So make it known! Leave logsever.exe running when play EVE. If it CTD's then send a bug report in with the saved logs. They cannot fix the problem if they've got nothing to work with

As KirikaPhoenix stated, the best way for us to resolve this is for you to send in bugreports. For this type of CTD issue (and yes, it 'doesnt happen to me'Ö) please follow the steps listed here. The most important part is to include the .dmp file created in a subfolder of your Eve folder called "Logs" (eg. "C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\Logs"), as this will give the programmers the best information about what is causing the problem.

Rightio - This is exactly what i'm going to do now, starting tonight. Anyone else having this issue do the same thing and maybe the bug catchers at CCP can find the issue.

What I found out is that bugreporting is boring, and really not something CCP should ask its customer to do. UNLESS, there is some kind of reward for every valid and unreported bug. Just the same way people get paid ISK for writing in EON, or being rewarded for inviting their friends to play EVE. Just an idea

Lol - No offence but if the developers find the quash the bug from the info I send them - I will start logging allf my eve sessions - always and sending them the log EVERY time that an error keeps reoccuring...

The isk people get paid for writing for EON is given to EON by the people who take out advertisements in the magazine. They don't just generate the isk out of nowhere.

Yes, I know the ISK given to people, such as you, for writing for EON isn't generated, but infact collected from advertisements. BUT I was just trying to make a point.

Ok fair rant but you have to look at the bigger picture, while it may be affecting some users there are more users who are totally unaffected so therefore i would go so far as to say its got to be a machine related issue because otherwise everyone would have this issue, i've only had a CTD once since RMR was released so it works perfectly here.

Anyway, wish I could say I knew what the OP was talking about. NO problems here with CTD's in a while. Although, a friend of mine was having similar problems. Turns out it was her ISP. They gave her a new IP addy or something and it cleared the problem right up. Maybe it's the fault of your service provider?
