How do they cope on TS though, I mean many of the devs are known in public from fanfests etc and their voices would get recognized.

Were you ever on an alliance TS.. hell no one would recognise anyone so much ppl there usualy..
Ofc you recognise the fleet commanders or other leaders who talk a lot and you get used to their voice.. but after a fan fast, you have no chance to recognise a dev's voice on TS... NoWay! - POST WITH YOUR MAIN!

What if some player applied for a job at CCP and was required to move to Iceland. Certainly the ingame buddys would be aware of that. So either players which get "upgraded" had to
a) get rid of buddies b) have their charname be changed c) have to hide the job at CCP and all that Iceland stuff
In all other cases it'd be quite clear that this player is a dev. I wonder how one'd solve this dilemma? Must be one of those yay+ouch moments in life.

There's probably devs and GMs in every major alliance, and all they do is to counter each others haxploits all day long :P

CCP employees shouldn't be allowed to be in alliances. I don't even think they should be allowed on TQ.
Over the years I've had quite a few fishy dealings with various alliances and corps. CCP employees abusing power would explain a lot of this.

I think alot of people are very paranoid. Why would a dev jeopordise his job by cheating in a game? Cheating in a game spoils the enjoyment of progressing in it anyway.
Its common sense lads and lasses. - Rise.

It makes no difference what the players do, behind the scenes is really two dev's having a Neo v Agent Smith type battle to determine a fleet battle outcome ----- Geotech is recruiting! |

Good news... I just got a T2 TinFoil Hat BPO from my Boundless creation agent...
Conspiracy Theorists can have one for only 1.5 bill isk and be safe from Dev h4x forever!
(This is sarcasm... anyone abusing their dev OMGGODMODEH4XPLOIT powers would most likely be disciplined or fired, most likely the second... CCP is a bussiness, EVE is a game. I think that they all know the differences between their dev job and their player game.
So to all the nay-sayers... please shut it cos I [and many others] have faith that the devs here are good to us 'cos they love the game like we do - By playing it.)
Rant Off ;)
Sorry bout that but I just feel strongly about people accusing others of not acting professionally when their job and personal life is 'seen' to mesh, even when it is still quite clear where the line is drawn. And for alot of people this is just jealousy against succesful ingame entities ;) (you know who).

There was one rather high profile ISD member that got busted after being at the FanFest in his ISD capacity and then included in a corps video reel :)

This post is probably the one that I read today that makes the least sense of all, well, probably even further back
First of all, to actually say to a developer of the game "dont play your game, it's bad for me". It's not only asking us to be out of contact with the game but also implying we all cheat?
Being in the position I am, Chief Janitor of Tranquility and beyond, I have seen so many accusations of GM/DEV/ISD cheating, investigated them and 99.9% are so way off it's not even funny. Least of all the crap accusations posted publicly on forums about [Insert the last person/corp/alliance that is doing better than you] being a [Insert abusable position of choice] and is also helping out [Insert the person/corp/alliance you dislike by association with former person/corp/alliance] and they possibly couldn't be doing so well without cheating.
You saw we admitted publicly what happened with the ISD incident in the character transfer, kieron posted a blog about it, after which we simply prevent character transfer on all non-paying accounts. We take this very seriously, cheating in EVE not only hurts EVE, it hurts us on a personal and financial level in addition to our reputation. We log everything, all developer accounts ("supercharacters") AND their player accounts are especially flagged and audited regularly.
And to answer the OP.
1. No, never. 2. See above.
Why? I couldn't care less if people knew who my player characters are. In fact I assume that it would shed more light on my motivations, bias and preferred playstyle within EVE and people would understand me better if I did publish them.
However, I'm the last person to get hurt by players knowing my identity. My corp, my alliance - the people I play with and are my friends - would be hurt far more simply by association.
I achieved a lot of things that I'm really really proud of in EVE before I joined CCP. I would love to swap war stories and publicly go meet my friends at gatherings as a player, but doing that would mean I'm hurting my friends - because of people like you, that assume the worst, that we cheat and all great accomplishments can't be done without abusing the position of being a developer.
I mean, the very fact that I sat down at a table with some really nice BoB guys at the last fanfest and talked started rumours!(ok, they also had great persuasive powers, beer!)
Sorry for lashing out like that on you, but your post is of the type that I dislike the most of anything I read here. Heck, I have to wear my corp T-shirt under my clothes so people don't see it, how lame is that? I can barely wear the schwag I get from various corps because they'd probably be accused of cheating (Thanks for the schwag tho, it's appreciated )
To sum it up. We will never publish who we are ingame. It hurts our friends.

I have to agree with Oveur. It seems kinda weird not to allow the devs to play with us. Without them being among us I doubt they would really hear our cries of injustice and bug discoveries. Knowing yourself is a path towards victory(or something akin to that) and for CCP to know its product is paramount in its success(imo).
I remember playing various MMOs through the years and knowing that CCP actually plays their game makes me trust them a little more than some EA MMO. Let us take Final Fantasy XI for example(Square Enix). They outsource the GM job so you have *******s who know nothing of the game handling petitions and reports. I can tell you that that really opened a can of worms; so far I haven't experienced that in Eve and kudos to CCP for that.
If anyone does abuse his power inside CCP's offices I really hope they kick his RL and virtual ass out of their company and game.

Not at all. I've been more or less tied with EVE from early on, first on behalf of an investor, then joined their board on behalf of that investor, played from the first alpha and eventually joined CCP. I'm just a proud assimilation

Other than the ISD incident Oveur refered to (Blog Link), there hasn't been an incident of abuse that I am aware of. If there is in the future, I feel it safe to say the resulting action from CCP would be fitting and swift. Cheating attacks everything the company has worked for, including the trust and confidence of the EVE community. That's not something we would idly sit back on.

The rest of us risk abuse every time we post with our mains.
One wonders how the game mechanics might be changed if the devs had to put up with griefing.
There is a differnce you know.
The rest of us risk abuse not because of who we are but because of what we say. If the devs revealed their mains, they would face abuse because of who they are inspite of whatever they may say of do.
