Edited by: Unexpected on 30/05/2006 18:16:18 Hello,
Would it be possible for CCP to issue a document listing: - number of CCP employees having active characters in Eve Online (I'm assuming CCP is not outsourcing developers or higher-level staff) and - alliances they are members of?
Please note that this question is directed to CCP employees/customer service.
Thank you.

Everyone knows almost all of CCP play EVE. However they would never ever give out the alliances they are part of. It's clear you just want to try and have proof all the devs are in BoB

I couldn't care less about Band of Brothers :)
Also, apologies for not being clear in the initial post - this question was directed to CCP's... management/customer service team and not to speculating players. I'll update it now.
Thank you.

If you want an answer from them, try e-mail. To start a public thread, you want to start a discussion.
I know what i'm letting myself in for here, but.... why do you want this info?

Why on earth would you ask the question in a public forum then, if you don't want speculation, which you are bound to get in a general forum, ask them directly by using the ask a question link to the left.

That's a good idea, actually. I'll see if I get an answer here and if not, I'll try other ways of obtaining this info
Originally by: Max Teranous I know what i'm letting myself in for here, but.... why do you want this info?
RL I guess :) I deal with securities, etc. - there is probably no other industry requiring this much disclosure regarding personal activities (trades, relations to corporations of clients, etc., etc.) of employees.

Afaik, every CCP employee (at least the development team) plays EVE; and you can be sure they have people in pretty much every major alliance. --------

It would be stupid to think that there wasn't a dev in BOB, or in any of the other better alliences for that matter.
The problem is, even if there's only one dev there, then you've just proved every tin-foil hat wearing lunitic on the board, no matter if there are dev's in thier own allience or not.

The identity of Devs/ISD/GMs will never be revealed because the dev who nerfed something, GM who didnt reimburse something and volunteer who gagged someone shouldn't be attacked on their player account for that.
If some sort of list was made on how many Devs/ISD/GMs were in a certain alliance the only thing that would happen would be alliance X has some success and alliance Y starts claiming the Devs/ISD/GMs in it cheated. The fact is that when we play, we play the same way as any other player, no advantages.

You mean except for the fact that there are hundreds/thousands of undocumented features, which only the more experienced players are aware of because they were either told or learned by accident/the hard way?

Yes, but there are a lot of players who are better at EVE than me.

errr... what?
And about releasing the numbers, it's quite obvious why they wouldn't release that information. The alliances with more devs would be under constant whining from their enemies because "surely they omgh4x", etc.. not rocket science, is it?

Part of the game is finding out new stuff and Dev/GM/ISD have an edge on that because they have to investigate possible sploits or know about changes in game mechanics first. In a way its unfair towards paying customers even when they are really sensitive about their conduct. It's even more unfair that they are payed to play Eve. |

Oh I agree - giving actual character names would be a TERRIBLE idea
Which is why I asked for quantities only.
