Maybe a little, but the income from CCP China will make this game skyrocket. So I think it will lead to good things in the end for all of us. Besides, we get to experience the new stuff before the ebil china players.
I'd rather see them launching all the new stuff and run patches on the chinese server first, let them walk point.
Remind me about The Maze.

And next up: Learning Chinese.

I'm sorry but this just does not ring true, Any company that has one product that has worked so well will, when the funds are there, branch off into other projects, I'm not expecting EvE to last forever but there only so much you can do with a single product.
The more income CCP get the more they will want to get, it's human nature to always want more or better. With the release of more "team based" games, (star trek online, and what do you give to your team? 3% faster, %8 more shield HP or just one more number in a blob) the more EvE will fall behind and the more work CCP will have to do just to keep EvE in it's current state "fun" to play.
The graphics update is one thing, more eye candy but at what cost.. so your badger 2 looks a little diffrent or the cara has more detail at heart it's still EvE, older players will indeed know that the game has not changed just what you look at looks a little better. While CCP i'm sure have no plans to do a rewrite of the most basic things, it's sometimes the small things that can have a more desired effect. I can live without flying a titan or a carrier even a Battleship but each time I stop my ship I level off ? and with that much income now being droped into CCPs lap how long before ideas about how our server could be used to make more income.
this was not a rant and i think there were lots of diffrent views in there mixxed up but i really hope and wish for CCP to see that while titans and carriers and T2 BPOS are great in game, they are jsut items in a game that could do with something more.
EDIT for typo and a few breaks for people to take a gulp of air.

I have all faith in CCP, and if they say more money means more devs which again equals more StuffÖ then I believe em.
also, that there are limited what you can do with a single product - really depends on the product! And this product is really a huge one! There are so much they can do in this game, to eveolve it that its insane! Planetary use is just one of them!
There is so much I want to see in this game, So I really hope CCP earns LOTS of cash, so they can hire all the new devs, to make all those shiny things I want to see in this game
And oh, congratz with the launch of the EVE China Server! Please keep us informed of our new brother in Asia

Its open beta
lets see how many will actually pay for the game and then how will Eve develop there. Eve without our strong alliance system and a bit of dedicated politics isnt Eve.
And since thy cant sell the items on american/european ebay, it will be interesting.

After having read stories of Chinese players that passed out at their pc's after having spent so long playing various MMORPG's.
Players who had to be arrested after refusing to leave internet cafes etc.
Its going to be scary to see who will pull out to be the first pilot to set records.
Although thats if Jita doesnt crash ;p ___________________________________

Disagree, this is why.
Scenario 1. CCP deploy patch to EVE-China first. Threads appear on here complaining that CCP is playing favourites to the other server.
Scenario 2. CCP deploy patch to us first. Threads appear on here complaining that we're the trial run for the EVE-China patch.
Scenario of actual truth. Tranquility is CCP's baby and will always be first in their hearts!
Don't forget, we just had two patches in the space of about two weeks on TQ. Can't you guys feel the love? <3 CCP.

congratualtions are due to CCP. that's a middle finger up to Blizzard, eh?
I'd have loved to see the traffic jam entering and leaving the newbie system stations... wonder if that'll need some technology that will be transferrable to hub stations like jita IV-M4 and similar places where there's invariably jams of barges/indys all bouncing off each other's collision boxes. Possibly a new set of "busy" station models that has 4 or more undocking routes, to stagger undocks onto differnt vectors?

I love how many people are saying that CCP will forget the Euro/North American server...
China has thier own devs and server. But all those subs means more money for CCP, which means more goodies for all. They develop content/stuff for EVE Online, and apply it to both Serenity and Tranquility.

Hmm... the lag must have been horrible. 30.000 people in the newbie systems?
Didnt the cluster crash?
i am sure they learned over past experiences and decided to give kisogo at least 5 or 6 clusters on its own.

True, we did. Although all the actual content of those patches was cut out... They were bugfixes. And look at Kali, which essentially just got pushed back. (All interesting features arent in the first patch, no we got "The path to Kali" now. Excuse for delay, tbh.)

Eve has a very intersting advantage over other MMORPG in China.
There is a law in China that says that after a certain number of hours of play, you must get less XP and after some more no XP for playing.
This is one of the reasons why companies doing such games must setup servers there. Eve, has no XP system and this technically does not affect them. :) That is a draw to a lot of players. ------------------- Sig removed, please stay away from extremely cute and cuddly sigs, email [email protected] if you have any questions |
