Edited by: SINKFIST on 16/06/2006 03:21:35 Edited by: SINKFIST on 16/06/2006 03:21:10 This game is way way way too drawn out... Take forever just to get goni then all there is after that is lame gate jumps not thrusters and really lame autopilot.
I mean come on... autopilot fighting? how *** is that. I have never been so bored in a game...EVER
Dont get me wrong the graphics arent bad but not near as good as it portrays to be.
The Jumpgate transition is stupid, you would think that it would at least line you up properly. Plus haha ...it allows you to fliy right through planets and spacestations.
At least freelancer keeps the physics realistic. And way less texture clipping. You can freeflight whenever you like, especially in a fight. I cant believe how bad this game has dissapointed me.
A word of advice to the creators... Less clipping, realistic dock sequences, freeflight ability, and please please please make it so you can actually fight, because the fighting is weak.

fantastic.
how long have you played?
all your points are extremely minor issues in regards to what the game is like.
autopilot battles? never head of it. When you learn to fight more, you'll learn about adjusting ranges, power management, etc.
watch some of the eve vids for what you will actually see in the future.
edit: the planet thingy? do you know what it would entail to have a game move you around a planet? it'd put a huge load on the servers.
jumpgates? it's the same concept as in other games like freespace. -

I'm sorry, but you're seeing EVE as something it's not. If you want freelancer then play freelancer. I play EVE because I really do enjoy it.

well the thing is,
If you were to play this game for a year then it would be a $240.00 game That is a rippoff... seeing how it limits your ability to do anything interesting.

I cant disagree with you more.. EVE is the most open ended mmo ever.

Edited by: SINKFIST on 16/06/2006 03:30:13 Adjusting ranges and all that is part of what i like, but you have to rely on autopilot too much...
And have you played freelancer?... of so then you should see what i mean. You come up to the side of the gate and then just disapear and it shows no travel in between...

for your post above this, you have to pay to play. don't like it? Then don't play.
autopilot is to elp you navigate long runs, after all it is a galaxy.
there is no combat autopilot. If you're referring to orbiting, then get yourself a missile boat or sniping tempest (it takes a little time) and sit back and push F1, F2, etc.

... and even playing rather casually, that'd be what like a quarter an hour? less than 50 cents an hour for sure. or if you really barely played it might be more than that... but still well under a dollar an hour.
can you tell me another form of electronic entertainment, or ... *cough* non-physical entertainment that costs less?
and limits what you can do? are you kidding? EVE lets you do practically more than any other MMO in existance. (I can think of one or two exceptions, but those aren't mainstream)

Sorry... but sitting back and pressing F1 or F2 sounds really boring. There is no skill required to play this game. Just a lot of usless time spent by someone who has nothuin better to do. I like to jump in a game undock kill or whatever and then leave if i wish. But 4 1/2 hrs to wait while my character learns a skill just so he can get in his ship is a waste of time. The game is merely a time killer not a test of abilty/hand eye co-ordination but a test of laziness. You just have to spend hrs and hrs gettin what you want then you can sitt around and brag about what you got. Thats all i can see this game for. ( a 3d chat room).

I can't tell if this is a serious post from a noob who hasn't tried the game much, or a joke, or both...

I guess you are right, You are entitled to your point of view. But who are you trying to convince? the others or yourself? Are you using this thread as a medium to convice yourself that you are right by trying to break down other people's points of views that do not co-incide with yours? Is there any objective you are trying to specifically achieve with this thread?
Please let us know, eve has probably the best mmo community around, and we'ed like to help you, even da playa haters..

You must really suck at this game. Not only that but have so little to do you just want to honk about it.
1. You dont have to sit and do nothing while training. You can go do whatever yr capable of doing.
2. This isnt a flight sim, its a MMO. The flight model might be basic, but trust me get in a big enough fight and you'll be happy with the fact that your not having to calculate delta V and relative inclinations.
3. Eve is not a race to lvl 60. If you focus on nothing but training skills you bound to get bored.
4. just want to undock and kill stuff? the just undock and kill stuff. Get in a ship, fly to yr nearest belt and go hunt down rats, or better yet, settle inj a low sec system and get shot to bits by player pirates.
Strikes me the limitation here isnt the game.... but your mindset.

i have to agree with the above you sound like an instant gratification type.
there is no such thing as an "auto pilot fight". i generally fly in all sorts of random directions while fighting to figure out what range the person can't hit me at.
this game isn't freelancer, thank the gods nor is freelancer anywhere near realistic. you can't fly planet to planet in 10 mins the gravity of the 2 would rip each other apart/slam into the bigger planet. in eve if you fly planet to planet it would take months as it should. as for flying through planets there is some thechy talk as too how it's possible to do so. somshyte like opening a warpfield actually pulls you into a sort of subspace in which you don't interact with normal space. i try not to think about it it sounds to trekky.
all in all i don't think you played the game at all. if you wanna undock and fight then do so, just don't expect to be a solo pwn wagon in 10 days. ------FD------
