Why would we pin them unless we wanted them to stay there?
It's kinda important for pvp.
+1
I would also say that the overview shouldn't "minimize" (whatever it does when you double-click the top bar) when its pinned. |

My UI setup would probably completely break without pinning working as it does now. |

The only reason people might not use this option is because it is set to off by default. Setting it to off by default is silly and the first think I do on any Eve client is set it on. I also tell everyone I fly with about this option and most people either know about it or are very happy to be told about it.
Don't 'fix' this by removing the option and forcing pinned windows to not be pinned at all. By all means remove the option, but set the windows to be unmovable permanently. |

Quite frankly, the fact that window locking keeps breaking, with every new release and patch, is a bug - and this rather essential gameplay feature needs to be permanently fixed, not removed.
GUI programming isn't rocket science or brain surgery. Locking window positions is not something which should be "increasingly hard to maintain". This is basic core level stuff that you code once and should never need to touch again.
Sorry to be so critical, but debugging and fixing these sorts of problems is a large part of what I do in my RL profession. It just isn't that difficult. |

Do not remove this feature. I discovered the pin button independently when I was just starting to play the game, and I can't imagine getting into combat with the risk of accidentally dragging a vital window. |

I have used this feature since forever, and greatly desire that it be left in. "Difficult to maintain" is nothing in the face of removing an important (and simple!) feature from the game. The ability to pin windows is critical to maintaining a usable UI.
Please do not remove this feature. It is important, and everyone I know uses it. |

Another +1 to the "pin should, you know pin" sentiment. I've never understood why there was even a choice to have pinning not lock the window in place. It's way too easy, especially in a hot fight, to accidentally move a window or worse, dock it to another, thereby totally hosing your UI at a critical moment.
Please put this back in! |

I'll be submitting a bug report every time pinned windows move against my will. I don't care about transparency, I care about immutability. I don't want the game mucking about with my UI just because I dock/undock/join a fleet/launch drones.

wow, 6 pages of "this is a huge deal"...
Honestly, I don't pin windows because they make things transparent. Also because stacking mucks everything up.
But it's a nice feature to have. I don't know how you wrote it but why don't you just make windowID's remember relative locations to the origin? Or explain how it can be so difficult to maintain since I seem to be missing something. |

CCP if pinning is not returned, we will stage a mass revolt and destroy the beautiful monument in Jita... oh wait.
But seriously; I use this feature as standard, because without it I am it is very easy to end up dragging stuff about you didn't intend and having to fix the layout constantly. |

So... Could we at least get some sort of answer? "Screw you guys, we don't think that you wanting this warrants the 'excruciating effort' is it to maintain" or "Oh, sorry, we're not removing this" would suffice.

+1. If I click the pin button that window should not be able to be moved until I unpin it. This change would be fine if pinning worked as expected. |

On that note there should be different buttons for "pin" and "transparentify". I pin windows that I don't want to move, but some windows become difficult to read when transparent, so I don't pin them. I especially expect many windows to become difficult to read against the new nebula backdrops. |

I have my windows pinned on all my EVE instances, its highly annoying when windows don't stay where i put them. Especially because one use the mouse so extensively (like rotation the view)...
Please revert your decision and add the option again.

Removing this is madness.
In my recent trips to the test server I thought this was a bug. And had been reported as such by more than a few people.
Where do you possibly get the "no one uses this"
Fix it completely or DO NOT remove it. You guys are already doing the same thing to the Pan to Target feature. Why not leave this stuff in the way it is till you can fix it. The way they are currently working is in use by more people then you think!!! |

CCP Optimal wrote:This was removed on purpose. The feature was becoming increasingly hard to maintain due to technical reasons, and given the fact that very few people even knew of it's existence, we decided to remove it. Surely you cannot be serious. I have used this feature almost since it was introduced and I have never come across anyone who didn't know about it (compared to, for example, the target origin widget that lets you move your locked targets around). Any time I had to redo my settings (reset cache or new install for example) I moaned about the pin button not locking windows by default. And every time people replied "yeah, I hate that too". Not once did anyone say "what are you talking about?"
This is exactly the opposite of the correct change. The change you should make is to fix the pin button lock to windows by default.
edit: In fact, as has been suggested many times including before the OP here, "pin" and "make transparent" need to be separate. I don't pin my chat windows because pinning them tends to make them unreadable, but I would love to be able to lock them in place because I move them around by accident all the zarking time. |

I use this because the only reason I would possibly pin a window is, surprise surprise, I want it to stay where it is!
EVE Online - the only game where 'pinning' means something completely different.
Just change the name to 'make this window transparent' if that's what you're going to do. |
