Throughout the next 5 weeks, CCP staff will be cycling through their summer vacations. There should not be any major changes to game content or code during the coming weeks as the different development teams rotate the staff on break. There will still be Dev and GM staff on-hand in case there are any issues and the volunteer teams will continue to provide their normal excellent support.
As soon as the summer vacation is over, development of and coding the Path to Kali will resume.

I hate to be the nay sayer in a group, but shouldn't the vacations for some have been pushed back until the Petition backlog is cleared up?
I have 2 petitions in that are over 3 weeks old. One to do with me not being able to see other people chatting in any channel I've joined after one of the patches in early June, and one where I lost 4 days training on a skill some how.
Both of these are well over 3 weeks old. Shouldnt' the staff that handle Petitions wait until the backlog is undercontrol and petitions are down to just a few days.
And yes, the support response time is my greatest pet peeve with CCP.

You have GOT to be kidding. This has to be the WORST support system I've seen in the past 5 years of MMO's.
The last MMO I played the support staff were actually able to HELP people with stuck petitions within an hour or two. Meaning a GM actually showed up IN GAME and helped you out. It would take an hour or two most of the time. Maybe 3hrs when it was during major game updates.
The actual petition system in the game is HORRIBLE. You can only have a limited number of petitions pertaining to each subsection of the petition system. So if you have 2 issues that require a Reimbusement, oh sorry. You'll have to wait the 3+ Weeks for us to get around to the first before you can send in the second.
The fact that it takes WEEKS for petitions to get cleared up is horrendous.
I can understand with obscure/rare technical problems, but simple things like looking at the log files and seeing why some training time disapeared, or reimburseing someone for when a system goes off line or something similar?
I understand that they are in the middle of a changeover, but it's been like this since I started.
I have 2 petitions in that are almost to the 4 week period.
A MONTH!!!
And you have the gall to say it's a great support system?
Sorry, but in the last 3 MMO's I have been in over the last 5 years, a WEEK was a long petition time.
I love this game, and I like how the devs do most of the things they do, but the support system in this game sucks. And it's that simple.
As for labor laws, I didn't say cancel their vacation, I said postpone it till they get the support cue cleared up.

A tad angry are we?
Have you checked your E-Mail for a response to your petition?
I've been playing eve for going on 3 years and I've had nothing but good dealings with the support staff.
The longest I've ever had to wait for a stuck petition was 11 minutes I think. All my other petitions were answered very promptly.
The reason I tell you this is because contrary to what you would have everyone believe that reads this thread, CCP does an excellent job when it comes to support. Some people slip through the *****s (like yourself) but for the most part alot of us are handled rather promptly.
Now that we've totally derailed the original topic, I'd like to say thanks and have a wonderful vacation CCP. |

Angry, nope. Annoyed.. yup.. The skill point loss.. ehh. i can live with it... the inability to chat in any channel I join after the first week of June... that's harder to get over.. I can't see anyone chating in local.. that can cause.... problems...
I'm angry that a company that does things so well, like todays downtime being right on time, can't improve their support system.
As for checking my email, it checks every 5 mins 24/7.
The one Ask A question that I couldn't do through the petition system got an auto response within an hour. Then a GM responce asking my if I'd maybe put people on ignore.. hehe. I can't ignore the whole Recruiting channel, or the help channel in game :) Then a week later I got a responce asking my to resend in my question becuase they'd changed over the system. Great another 3 week wait...
I just want to be able to chat again. I want to know where that lvl 5 skill's SP's went to. I'm just very saddened that things that affect a player like this go on for weeks.
As for slipping through the *****.. I think I fell in it.. I've yet to have a petition/ask a question rectified in under 3 weeks. To me, that's bad. Sure it may be the statistial 2% that slip through.. but it still affects me. In 6 months of play, not one has been faster then 3 weeks.

After all the changes and additions over the last few months, I'm sure the Devs need time off. Though it's rare in my experience to have a whole company have holidays withing a 4-6 week window..

Well, in most of scandi there are lots of holidays in july/august timeframe.
normally its scheduled so there are enough people to man the guns during the holidays, but not much more than that. I know my office is basically closed during July, and so are a LOT of places in finland.

Take a holiday? Me? Ha!
I can take a day or two off, but if I take anything longer than that, it takes me 2 days to catch up on the work missed in 1 day! I have more stress in the weeks following a vacation than I do in the weeks preceeding!
I'll have a couple 3 and 4 day weekends during the run of the staff vacations. That's generally enough to recharge my batteries. I'm also heading out to Gencon to assist with the release of the EVE Card Game, so that will be a working vacation. There really isn't any other kind of vacation in my field.

Well i guess ccp gotta have breaks and stuff cuz we all know the .......Curse when big upgrades happen among other normal fix-patches.
So ccp staff rest while u can the Great curse is just lurking around the corner for you with Kali.
On a lighter note Christmas and further holidays could be cancelled for when the above does happen to allow time to fix the problem. Just thought i'd make u feel good and such while u out soaking up the sun

The "Or else what?" comment was actually a joke, and judging from the replies most people took it like that too.
I don't take vacations much since it is boring. I am going to Stockholm to help my dad move though, and then of course there's the fan fest.

Wait, your letting the devs out? Uh oh, are they trained to come back?
:) Well done CCP-folks, enjoy a well earned break. Kali awaits and we'll try not to break anything while your gone.

Hooray! Have a great vacation, you guys are awesome and the longer the break the better. I know what burnout is when working in 3d animation business and you guys having a break is the best thing for you and all EvE fans.
SO my question is, WHY the frack do you start up some Eve TV b.s. adding useless stuff to your already full plate??
THEN you go on vacation. WTF??

Today would tend to indicate staffing levels are insufficeint at this time.
No Server.
No Tournament.
No EVE-TV.
Less than pleasing especially when I can only play at this time.

How is the release plan of Kali One affected by this? The decision to push out the Unicode client sans Kali first already screws things up a lot. I remember Kali One having been planned for Q2 this year, which has been overshot pretty hefty.

Originally by: kieron Throughout the next 5 weeks, CCP staff will be cycling through their summer vacations.
Answer my email before you leave Kieron - p-p-please :D

As it has now been 4 of those 5 weeks, we are almost out of the woods
Question though, is there any relationship between these vacations, and the horrid condition TQ has been in for the last few days? It seems that since that extended DT for database management, or whatever, TQ has gone to crap. I hope this is not going to have to wit for resolution untill next week when CCP is back to full staff.
