I can't say I'd mind them seeing jail time (not really just for EVE but for everything they've hit), but torture is pretty extreme.

For those who don't know, DDoS attacks are someone betting a bunch of proxys and connecting/pinging the server very fast, causing it to lag, then crash, the culprits do not need to be in the game, at all to do such a horrible deed, they just need the I.P address of the server... |

Ehhh, I find jail for DDoS to be a little bit extreme (if only due to the fact that the same laws are used to throw people using DDoS as a form of political protest into jail) - I think a more rational response is just adapting to these attacks, improving ones network to prevent similar attacks in the future, and determining the origin of said attacks and preventing access to the network from that point of origin in the future.
My point of view, however, is affected by being a citizen of a country where we have seen DDoS attacks actually result in changes that have made the world a better place.
DDoSing a video game just to shake ones e-peen, however, is quite silly. Worth jail time silly? Nah. It's not like there's some serious political message or protest message to be gained by annoying people who play a video game :P

Noooo... I lost my drones in space. The first time I got disconnected tonight my drones ended up back in my drone bay. We'll see this second time tonight.
In the past when I got disconnected from the serve the drones would still be floating helplessly in space. |
