It should get a big pg and cpu boost over the mega so maybe a full neutron setup would be viable to make up for the lack of drones?

Well, it can be nice for some very specific PvP situations, but compared to the other tier3 BSes this one is a big disappointment.
Who will fly these in big fleet engagements? Who will fly them for PvE like level 4 missions?
This one will quickly be the cheapest tier3 BS, thats for sure.

Well I'm of mixed opinion...
The bonuses (boni) are nice but looking at the other ships it seems to get the raw end of the deal. I would like to see the base resists on the ship.
Is the thinking that having the extra cap will allow you to run 2 lar and neutrons ( I presume the expected blaster of choice ).. meh more details pls...

I wonder how good it will be without a tracking bonus and without a tanking bonus compared to the other new ships. It has to have a gigantic cap! MWD is fine tho', but as the other ships tanks better now, the gall BS got some issues (yes, depends on the cap and armor - guess we ahve to wait).
I'm stil more for dmg and 10% reduction in capbooster cycle and a cargobay on 1500, WMD'ing wouldnt be a problem and we got 'sort of' a tanking bonus as you can run the dual repping quite long Sig removed. Please keep sigs to 400x120 pixels and 24000 bytes or less. -Kaemonn |

Yea, as I said, for very specific PvP situations it will be nice. But most often, gank gangs is frigs and hacs only due to align/warp speed, and this ship wont change that.
The other races tier3 BS are either VERY nice for fleet engagements and/or VERY nice for PvE. Compared to that, the very limited number of PvP situations that the hyperion will be good in is nothing.
A very big disappointment.

Deepending on it's tank, the lack of drone bay makes me a tiny bit worried, but if a gallente pilot needs a fleet rail boat, theres always the Rokh.... unless your into roleplay that is. Hell, it's made my life a whole lot clearer.

I liked everything said about this ship aside from the god awfull MWD bonus. If the ship has 4 midslots then the bonus is rather pointless as your cap will be limited more by the number of cap booster 800 charges you have rather than your max cap. If the ship does not have a 4th midslot then it is beyond useless. Then again the devs are not stupid so I'm very confident that the ship will infact be granted a 4th midslot.
I think it is time that Tux take a look at the bonus as a whole and change it to 7.5% or 10% per level across the board. This would include a change to both the Deimos and Thorax as well. Personally I think the bonus as a whole should be scrapped and replaced with something that decreases cap use or increase thrust amount per level.

The only thing that is 'wrong' with the Blasterthron is its inability to field both T2 neutrons and a full tank. If the Hyperion can do that then I'd say it's better. If not then I'd say it's worse.

Sucks. Rokh is a better blaster boat (unless the Rokh is really, really slow).
25% bonus to resistances=much easier to tank it. Shield tanking=much more efficent with implants/faction mods. 50% bonus to ranges=18-20km optimal range using Null.
Rokh; the blaster boat that tanks, and lets you reach out and crush someone. A Rokh with an officer webber will keep a Hyperion/other short range boat at 14km, while uber-tanking with ~70% average resistances.

Fits my skills perfectly as well, as does the Caldari tier 3.
I'm still fairly dissapointed though, not for obvious reasons though.
As most gal pilots have good hybrid skills the Caldari tier 3 is going to be the obvious choice for sniping, ok need to train caldari BS if you dont have it already, but no real biggy, this leaves domi and the new tier 3 for close range.
Whats gonna happen to the sexeh Mega, best looking ship in the games not gonna be used at all the way I see it, its lost its place.
What would be better imo would be to make mega a proper blaster platfrom, on par with this new one, then make the tier 3 a sniper/damping ship, at least then all the ships will have a purpose.
I'm not opposed with the ship in itself, just the knock on effect its going to have

No, there's a better way to fix the Megathron, now that the Gallente Tier 3 is going to be a blasterboat (not that I'm happy about it).
Remove 2 Megathron Turrents. Add 2 launcher bays.
Voila. Megathron is now a hybrid missile/rail/drone boat. Hyperion is a blasterboat. Dominix is a drone boat.
Either that, or give the Mega a range bonus :/

Unless the cap is big enough to remove the need for an injector (i.e. sustain MWD long enough to get into range and guns thereafter with a few rep cycles, hardners, web, scram thrown in), it really doesn't help much in the long run. I would rather hit my target more often than start cap injecting a few seconds later into a fight.

So... you want the Megathron to have 5 turret slots, 4 launcher slots on 5% hybrid damage and 5% tracking? Might as well give it 8/4/8, 4 turret, 4 launcher, 5% hybrid damage, 5% hybrid optimal and up the drone bay to 175m3. Fair enough, however the bonus is still by far the worst bonus proposed in the dev blog.
I hope people don't get the wrong Idea about my ranting. I do not think the bonus should be changed to something tanking oriented, nor do I think the ship should have a tracking bonus. I think that a MWD oriented bonus is the perfect concept for a ship that is designed around getting in the targets face however the 5% bonus to cap when fitting a MWD is just an awfull bonus. It has been an awfull on the Thorax, and it has been an awfull bonus on the Deimos.
Now the reason that this bonus is bad is because it is only usefull for the first few seconds of the fight untill you have burned the little bit of extra bit of cap it grants you. After that point it is almost as if you are flying a ship that only has a 5% bonus to hybrid damage per level. I'm sure someone will tell me that the increased max cap has an effect on your cap charge rate however cap charge rate means very little when your ship is cap injected or eating cap as the rate the Thorax and Deimos do.
I'm going to propose some replacment MWD bonuses as me sitting here ranting for the sake of ranting has little to no point.
1. 10% bonus to cap when fitting a MWD. Same fundemental flaw as the first however it does not suck quite as bad.
2. 15% reduction in sig radius per level when activating a MWD.
3. 5% bonus to MWD thrust per level
4. 10% less cap used when running a MWD
5. 7.5% reduction in ship mass per leve when running a MWD

Not really as you just stop your ship and web the target once you are in range. Hitting Cruisers will probably become a rather large problem however the Megathron has to be better at something.

Higher base cap would lead to a higher recharge rate, but I still don't think its enough to remove the need for a cap injector, and once you are running cap injectors your cap recharge rate isn't really an issue anymore. Personally I like #3 and #4 of your list. #5 probably wouldn't be the easiest to implment and an agility bonus would probably be better, #1 has the same flaw as the 5% bonus and #2 is fairly irrelevant when your talking about bs.

Fitting Ions + a dbl rep setup stil requires a cpu mod or some nice low CPU faction ANMs. Anyhoo, I'm going to stop before I derail this into a "How to fit Bthron best" thread, my apologies.

It is a more well rounded ship as it has more drones and better tracking making it extremely lethal to cruisers while still being able to break most BS tanks. However if the Hyperion gets 5 Mids allowing it to fit a tracking comp and the standard 4 mids then I agree with you completely.

Well in summary no:
MWD bonus useful for long range mwding when warping out and back always quicker than a station signature radius
BLASTERS - Oh they were fixed with tracking boost, oh wait we'll have no 7.5% boost going on here. Nice agil ship and goona track like a duck shoot using cannon balls.
DRONE BAY - Have to maintain the gal strengths :|
OVERALL All other T3 ships get tank bonus, mega fine as is with skills and it is a hard ship to skill for. Change the bonus to 7.5% armour repair and then it will be inline with the other ships and leave cap worries alone so can fit tracking and dmg modules.
The issue with blasters is how people play not the ship as most if not all fights involve some range and to that end when you want a fork you use a fork, and if you want a spoon you use a spoon. But to want both and use a sporj your only going to make a mess and leave an easy job to clearup. Sig radius+distance alone==dead and if yoru tanking you aint ganking so they will tank you. This is not even touching that a t3 apoc with blasters fitted could probably do as well if not better overall 8/.
Still its free and better than nowt and if you realy want a blaster boat a Brutix. I personaly love the Astarte :).

This new BS doesnt have a tracking bonus like the mega does, that in itself is going to make it less damaging, so I wouldnt worry I think theirs life left in the old dog yet
themegas always had a problem tbh, the hyberion is pritty much what the mega needed to be....
The gallente did really need that fleet BS all the other races seem to have 2 of but the mega can still do that so what ever...

Before the tracking boost blasters used to miss alot untill you had almost stopped, one too many bursts of mwd can make a huge difference.
Since the buff to tracking on the mega blasters hit realy nicely.
Now take a mega, make it faster and remove its tracking bonus, its not gonna hit anything smaller than a dread unless totaly stationary.
Its realy not gonna be very good, I mean I'm hopefull, but it realy doesnt bode well.

No. Just... No.
I looked at the Abaddon, and my eyes lit up. "An awesome Amarrian ship, ooh! Amarrians gonna be happy!"
I looked at the Rokh and I said "Caldari get to be in fleet battles, and the railthron just got owned. Woohoo"
I looked at the Maelstrom and I simply stated "There goes PvP for the rest of us"
Finally, I looked at the Hyperion and then I insulted the mothers' of several CCP employees and cried because Gallente have died a little more this day.
I'm very glad they decreased mass and increased agility, and I think it will be awesome (IF IT'S EVEN NOTICEABLE). The MWD bonus is the worst bonus ever. Doesn't work on the Thorax or the deimos, doesn't work on any ship that has it. Less drones means less dps, plus no tracking bonus (which is needed for large blasters, as the devs tried to fix with the Mega's boost) means even less. In the end the ship can't tank, and hell it will barely even beat the tank of these new tier 3s probably. I would hate to go up againt a Maelstrom in one.

A tankingbonus with some sort of ew would be nice but now we have two ships that do the same and i dont think the new bs will be a better blasterboat then the megathron.

its funny, when you compare the threads for the sperate ships, the only ones who seem to be happy are the caldari (again?)
I'm happy with the idea of this ship, the drone by needs to be a nice standard one, tracking would be nice but those MWD bonuses really help this ship do what it does better than any ship in it's class, they do work in the rax, and they'll be bonifibly awesome in a (none faction) BS

My initial thoughts were this will be the ub3r up close BS and megas gonna be next to useless with the other tier 3s and not be used for anything.
But after consideration I can see it staying the same as it is now for Gal and this tier 3 not realy being used for anything.
Having said that, I wonder how good it will be as a sniper, may be better than mega even, tracking bonus does nothing at long ranges anyway, I know they said realy low lock range, but if its got 5 mids can fit 3 sensor booster, 2 tracking cpus, might be good?

With 5 mids tracking should be less of a prob even in closerange tbh.
Mega BSLV5: 7.5x5=37.5% tracking increase. Hyperion with five mids could go 2xwebs or fit a TC2 for a 30% boost. Not sure wich would be better tbh.

I totaly agree that the Hyperion might need different bonuses. The stats fit a blasterboat just fine, and the larger cap is a great counter for the MWD. The lack of a tracking bonus and smaller dronebay bugs me though... Given that the cap is larger than normal for battleships, i'd say ditch the mwd bonus and give it a tracking bonus. And then go back to the Megathron and change the tracking bonus for something more usefull for a fleet ship. It makes no sense to give every race three different types of Battleships and then give the gallentes two half-asses blasterboats... Other option would be giving it more dronebay space(if thorax has 5 meds, Hyperion should have 5 heavies), go back to the megathron and reduce drone bay(75), change its tracking bonus to something usefull in fleet fights(extra sensor range comes to mind). This should keep all three gallente ships different enough. It would slightly nerf the megathron, but if it will be the only viable gallente fleet ship, it should be good at it, rather than a blaster-boat wannabe.

I'm deeply disappointed ...
Sure all the gun users will be happy with their new toys...
As a drone user I'm getting pretty much frelled off with the stick we're getting..
- no hardwiring for us drone users... - if you really want to use a pure drone setup now you're stuck with the same couple of ships - drone control units are capital ship mods, can't be used in empire, uber expensive etc - no named mods, no t2 mods, no named drones, drone bugs, overpriced t2 drones (please seed some more bp's k thnx)
I've had my domi for almost 2 years now... i like the ishkur, can't use guns so my domi > ishtar in mishes...
So I guess I'm stuck eh... thnx ..
To be completely on topic:
I think it's a missed chance: the big hybrid users will now get caldari bs and gallie bs to have a complete range of gun usage...
I suggested a mini carrier setup earlier with a +1 non-combat drone per level +5% dmg on medium & small hybrids
But hey lets have the blasterwhiners have a better ship than the mega

Originally by: FawKa Edited by: FawKa on 25/07/2006 21:34:18 I wonder how good it will be without a tracking bonus compared to the other new ships. We got our normal 5% dmg, but (5% dmg = 0 use) after caldari and amarr got their 25% resist (oh, and 8 lows for more tanking for the amarr one) and after the 7.5% shield boost to minmatar. To make up for this - we got a huge cap. I has to be gigantic to make up for this. We just lost a tanking bonus, we still have cap problems because of those 7-8 neutron, dual rep and MWD even if we have 3000 more cap than the mega.
MWD is an okay bonus tho', but as the other ships has tanking bonuses, the Hyp. really got some issues (yes, depends on the cap and armor - guess we heav to wait).
oh, and reduction in dronebay. Oh god, we are the dronemasters afterall, keep the 125m3 as we need that extra dmg as we cant hit a cruise with our guns anymore - AS YOU JUST STOLE OUR TRACKING
I'm stil more for dmg and 10% reduction in capbooster cycle and a cargobay on 1200m3. WMD'ing wouldnt be a problem and we got 'sort of' a tanking bonus as we will be able to a dual rep setup quite long.
-
can I be the first to say that the amarr one seems overpowered btw? 25% resist bonus, 8 lows. That makes it ideal for dmg modding AND superp tanking. This will hopefully get changed when the server goes down because of forum spamming.
. Just FFS TUX
I would totally agree on this. The tanking of an amarr Tier3 would be hard to break even if we can keep neutrons and tank them a bit going (f.x.). If they don't give us tracking bonus i guess we have something to hit those torpedoes back with if the neutrons fit. I can't say much just stonned over they even could think about remove tracking. It's diffently not a mission-runner ship like the other races just got with the tanking bonus. It's fair enough they give us the bigger cap. i know Amarr could use it without the normal bonus they get (10% bonus to Large Energy Turret capacitor use). but then what do we need mwd bonus for. It's nice to have, but we don't need it that bad after we get a bigger cap. The thing we need is dronebay or more then 25% damage bonus in total. Either way i'm sticking with my megathron. Unless you can fit neutrons on this Tier3, would be a nice BS killer. And FawKa the Tier3 Amarr BS is not overpowered, overtanked would be the right word

I personally think a 10% decrease in cap booster duration would be going overboard. However I do like that bonus idea, it is unique and would obviously be very effective, make it 5% per level and that bonus has my vote.

It's not a bad ship, but quite disapointing compared to other tier 3 BSes. Depending on the grid / cpu of the Maelstorm & Abaddon the gallente might go from roughly equivalent in fleet pvp to minmatar and amarr to second rate fleet BS. Beside with the tanking bonuses on all other tier 3 BSes, I seriously doubt that the megathron will be anywhere near close of the efficiency of other races for pve. Will it be acceptable that Caldari (Raven), Minmatar (Maelstorm), Amarr (Abaddon) get an extremely efficient PvE ship while the Gallente do not ? Maybe switching the second bonus to 5% more capacitor / level would do. As for fleet battle, I hope it will require at the very least 2 RCU II to fit 8x1400mm and 8xTachyon, else the gallente BS are probably going to diseapear from fleets.

Altho I don't like the bonuses he suggest, I want to keep the Megathron hull. It looks like a speedboat and with a better speed it'll finaly become one.
Looking at the Gallente tier 3 hull concept art, I'm not impressed. It looks like a butplug and very static, imo meant for long range. At least you have the choice to zoom out...

To be honest I am very disappointed by the Hyperion, however, I believe in giving this ship a chance. I am more than content with my Blasterthron how it is, ok so it cant fit a full rack of neutrons and tank bla bla bla, doesn't mean it isn't a fantastic and I am even more insulted by the poster who suggested a split hardpoint layout for the Megathron.
I must admit though, part of me was hoping for the Tier 3 gallente BS to similar to that of the Celestis.
But time will tell.
Also I would really like to see DC's views on the new Tier 3 BS and Dreez's views on the Hyperion.

Just had to say: OMG, worst suggestion EVAR... 10% to cap booster ROF? are you joking? why would anyone ever want a bonus like that? So I can *require* everyone to use a cap injector on their ship to make it effective? Are you kidding?
Furthermore, it would need a 2000m3 cargo hold to hold enough 800 charges to be effective. On top of that, a large cap booster only holds 4 charges. This is good for what? 60 sec of combat then you have to reload? WTH? I burn thru 10-15 800s easily in a big fight vs mult. opponents. Why in hell would I want to eat my charges FASTER?

Anyway, just one of the worst ideas ever.
Doesnt sound like you know how to use em. 10% might be too much as another poster said, 5% would prop do. A faster ROF would simply turn the 5% MWD 'bonus' down as your cap will be fine anyways, even with dual rep going on at the same time. As the other Tier 3 BS's just got tanking bonuses - we kinda need one aswell and this will do. Still, it really require the ship to have a large - very large - cap, but that is what Tux you said it has.
If you used those cap boosters, it sounds like 1 cap booster pilot vs another cap booster pilot. Now, You can 'cap tank' NOS and prop win against another cap booster pilot.
I do see the problem that you 'have' to fit a cap booster, but omg, a MWD'ing BS without a cap-booster. Its a must anyways, so please

Edited by: Olea Avenger on 26/07/2006 08:02:53 I don't see much use for this in PVP or PVE. PVE is usually all about having a good tank and being able to hit your opponents at almost any range well. It could work in solo PVP, but in any type of fleet battles it will be next to useless. I've tried using a blaster rax in fleet battles. It simply doesn't work that well even if your going after secondary, tertiary, or targets of opertunity (EW ships). Your constantly MWD around to usually find your target dead while your just getting into range, or your out of cap. It's even worse in the lag that often takes place during fleet battles. I see this ship having the same problem.
What's even worse is that with the MWD running, you will have a sig radius larger then a titan. Let that sink in.... larger then a Titan. This means while your MWD towards your target, you better have him and his buddies jammed cause your going to take every shot they put at you until you get close.
Also don't tell me the Dominix is a good PVE ship. It's alright for ratting, but for deadspace missions, it's a real pain do to drone bugs such as: aggroing a whole complex just by popping, drones still don't return to bays when ordered and/or get hung up on each other, turn off MWD thus making them very vunerable to that missle boat shooting at them, etc. It is also not as good as people think in PVP situations. You'd be surprised at how easy it is to kill one with the right setup.
The Megathron used to be a good sniper, but it will now be overshadowed by the Caldari railboat (unless they make it where you can't mount 8 425's... One can hope).
So it pretty much seems Amarr and Gallente are getting the shaft as things stand now. Seriously, all those missions against the Amarr agent tell me CCP wants Amarr to mount artillary on their ships. Not sure what they want Gallente to do.

I vote for the following boni:
- +7,5% blaster dmg - +5% MWD velocity
I mean, it's supposed to have short targeting range, bad tracking, small drone bay and subpar tanking, so it might as well have bonuses to get in range fast and punch strong with it's weapon of choice. 5% velocity mean you get in range faster, so you use less capacitor as well, while adding the fact that you're in the fight faster too.
I don't think it'd be overpowered seeing the other tiers 3 boni... well, ok, it might be a bit overpowered, but you get the idea ^^

Having to use up slots to make up for the tracking hurts your setup. The other races get ships that on paper look much better. And the loss of Drone bay is pathetic!! Hopefully we can get to test these on sisi to see how they really work.
But for now CCP please re think the hyperion.

I do know how to use blaster ships. Far from having experience on par with people like Farjung etc, but I'm a very competent Blasterthron pilot. Giving a ship a cap injector use bonus would only work if you could fit say, 60 800 charges in an injector at once. Then, you'd see the use of the bonus over the entire fight, instead of every 45 seconds or so, and then have to wait 10 seconds to reload.
Bthrons are so knife-edge anyway with cap, even with maxed cap skills etc, that a large cap with only average peak regen won't help *at all*. My point here is endurance. Cap injectors provide that- endurance. If the Hyperion had an insane natural cap regen bonus (say, 5000 cap, and 200 second regen *with* the MWD installed) then I think that would make for a good strong MWD capable ship that can still use blasters.
Cap injectors should be used to supplement your cap requirements, not be your sole source of cap. As it is now, this is the case w/ the Bthron (sole source) and it will be the same w/ the hyperion. You'll be able to MWD into range, and then poof, you're done, no regen avail to recover your cap for your fight. The idea is to start your fight with a healthy amount of cap, and be able to keep it there. As it sits now, you'll show up with say, 50% cap, and won't ever be able to recover that, while your opponnent is sitting at nearly 100% cap (doesn't have to get to range) and I can almost guarantee you that they're not going to give the Hyperion something upwards of 250-300% more cap than every other BS out there, which is what it will take to make the idea workable.
Actually, I've come up with a good nickname for the Hyperion- the "Hype". It's all hype, no substance. Because I said so...

Well they've solved the problem of the Typhoon being the least used BS in the game. People will get Hyperions for novelty value, i'll probably get one, but it's not really a useble ship. With a massive cap and a really slow recharge time your gimped pretty hard if your warping around becuase your cap wont recover that well in all likleyhood. CCP have decreed with the Hyperion 'Tho shalt use blasters' by giving it a crappy targetting range so it's a ship that cookie cutter from the start and I hate that. You might be able to fit a full rack of Neutron blasters and that be great, going to have to downsize them because the tracking on Neutrons is so bad that you'll have to use Ions. You'll still have to use a cap injector because say you meet a Maelstrom, that fight an't going anywhere for a while and your natural cap recharge an't going to help.
If your really serious about flying a Blaster ship then get a Vindicator, instead of losing 6.5% of your cap for fitting a MWD if you happen to have BS V you gain cap even with BS IV. It's more agile than a Mega and still has the great tracking bonus.
So now Gallente are going to have a Sniper with a massive drone bay and no range bonus and a blaster boat with a small drone bay and no tracking bonus. Unless it's stats are absolutly massive it's going to be a giganitic waste of time.

You dont rly need mwd bonus. If you make it faster base and less mass than Mega that all the mwd/cap help it needs.
Then the 8th turret sees for the slight DPS increase and then with same boni as Mega you have a viable blaster boat, presto Model wise I d like the model for the new tier 3 to look like an oversized Deimos with nice green lights and space shuttle mentality

I'm worried about it's tracking. I don't think it can hit even battleships decently with Void, and that will show in it's effectiveness even though many will be fooled by the good looking DPS on paper.
The MWD bonus could be an extra one since blasters are the only weapons which absolutely demand it's use, not to mention other penalties when using one (signature radius, fitting requirements).
More speed is a good thing, definitely something a blaster ship needs. But agility is even more important - turning and accelerating is vital whereas max speed rarely matters much. I hope the agility is on par with the velocity.
About cap use - as it is, a Mega can run one repper with an injector for a decent period of time. The cap bonus will help in allowing a second repper to be used - if the base cap and recharge are also better and the fitting constraints loose enough. I hope that as a means of compensating for a lack of tanking bonus the fitting possibilities are better so that Hyperion can use neutrons with two reps, given good skills.
I guess I'll wait and see how it turns out. I've not given up hope yet. ---

Technically yes, but projectile or laser closerange ships are effeciently "forced" to use one as well. At least thats the only way they can avoid short of faction webbers that a blastership will get into a few km distance to them and outdps them horribly.
Unlike blasters ships they do not need it vs every target, of cource, but if they are not using it they are leaving themselves quite vulnerable towards one.

The only thing that this ship needs IMO is a huge cargo bay. This would allow an effective cap 800 setup. With that i can see it as a nice solo BS and very much my style. I like that we seem to be getting a couple of different takes on a macharial style ship from the races.

Rokh; the blaster boat that tanks, and lets you reach out and crush someone. A Rokh with an officer webber will keep a Hyperion/other short range boat at 14km, while uber-tanking with ~70% average resistances.

Edited by: Croak on 26/07/2006 11:30:00 Edited by: Croak on 26/07/2006 11:29:29 How about a new no/less-sig penalty and lower cap drinking MWD, with oh, 10000 CPU need, and give the Hype a 99% bonus to fitting that new MWD, just like cloaks and command links work now. And be sure to seed a goodly amount of BPO's for it. Drop the standard 5% MWD cap-use bonus.
You could fix the Diemos pretty quick (or at least un-break it a lot) with a 10nm version of the same, though you run the risk of turning it into a close-range Vagabond.
Alternatively, make the special MWD a high boost/short duration unit with the standard cap and sig penalties. Give it a 750% or so velocity bonus and a huge mass capability (so accel is very quick), but a 5 or 7 second cycle. Could manually trigger it, and "pulse" to the target, while keeping some control on your signature, and give you some serious control over transveral once in close.
And since the cycle time is shorter, you don't have to drink 30 seconds of cap to power it, even with the increased velocity. More discrete control over both cap usage and manuevering. Plus, if you wanted to just blow through the cap, leave it on auto-repeat to quickly chew up distance.
To avoid confusion with standard MWDs, call this a "Pulse Warp Drive"...makes it easy to create a category for it as well, for the fitting reqs and bonus.

keep the mwd bonus. replace dmg bonus by tracking bonus better than megathron's tracking bonus.
we don't need dmg bonus on gun, if we alway miss the target.
that ll make the ship more versatile than the megathron, but may be less powerfull in dmg output.

hmm, i am somewhat irritated too.
i didn't expect a hyperthron at all, instead i hoped for something different, something unexpected, like the rokh.
The example of a BS based on a Celestis have some appeal.
i think at all it is of very limited and very special use, and have to say that the blaster specialisation BLASTED my hopes.
Luckily i skilled Gall BS only to Level 3, so i can catch up quickly and change to Caldari if this goes ingame because it appears that the reasons not to fly Cal ships are increasingly dwindling.
But after all, one thing I didn't foresee, is that i now have a good reason to train for MDCMII.

according to tracking guide the tracking thing will be a very big issue if u consider the extreme transversal by rushing into ur target with ur mwd and orbiting it afterwards to reduce the dmg u receive from the opponent.
this was an issue with the mega and it will be more than ever with the tier 3 one. wasting slots for drawback compensation like targeting range, tracking, etc. is not an option if the other races can use their slots at 100% for their own needs. it would simply penalise the gallente tier 3 bs. i really hope ccp could include players in the testing on test server so u devs could get as many input as possible for ur decissions before something hits tranquillity and might need further nerfing/boosting.
i know that nothing is ready yet but as u see the recent announcement made a lot of ppl worrying about the future. so i hope we can trust in ur right decisions.

The tracking isn't *that* bad an issue, just ask people who have flown Blasterdoms.
I reckon I'll manage just fine with this ship, quite like the thought of orbiting another BS at 10km and eating it with Null laden Neutron Blasters (And they will hit, as long as you don't be a spastic and orbit with an MWD running). And when you use void, its guaranteed that your both going to end up sitting perfectly still while you tear your target apart. Too much is being made of the lack of a tracking bonus. -----

Sadly, i liked all the bonuses but Hyperion struck me hard. Mwd bonus were given away when the mwd penalty was established to %25 to shiel capacity and %25 to capacitor capacity. Thorax and variants still suffers from that 'useless' bonus. Unless ofc you are a speed freak and want to go out in style. For a module that is going to be used 1-2 cycles, a bonus is an extreme luxury.
Without knowing the slot layout an also high slot configuration, making assumptions might be a bit out of hand but seeing how people use the words of fitting neutrons and tanking in same sentence makes me wanna weep.
This is a crippled mega. Less targeting range and probably longer lock time = bad. Less drone bay = less drone variety = bad. Probably will have an oddball slot layout = yuck. Have more speed = yay .. but whay about agility?
Short, drop mwd bonus and while you are at it change the mwd bonuses of other gal ships.
Tracking is essential for blaster boat also dmg. So, since almost every blasterpilot uses 800 charges, cap bonuses are moot unless it is %10 more cap per lvl or %10 more cap recharge per lvl, but sadly that is Amarr territory.
I want %7.5 to tracking and %7.5 to dmg(or rof) per Gal bs lvl.
And since all the races gets a '8' turret on their highs i want my blasterboat to have the same. And some drone space for gods sake. Even Amarr/caldari are using drones why not take our advantage from us? And plz some1 tell me the slot layout.

Honestly 8/4/8 is GN Mega and Fed Issue Mega layout and 8/5/7 is Vindicator. Those make me think of an oddball layout tbh.
Personally i'd prefer 7/6/7 slot layout (assuming they'll get 20 slots). Even better remove dmg bonus and add %5 less fiting reqs for fitting blasters per Gal BS lvl.

In eve, as in live, agility is determined by inertia, which has mass as a mjor factor.
