The whole "i'm offended" thing just needs to be dropped imo. Taking offense is a personal emotion and petitioning everytime you are offended just takes time away from more important things that the people at CCP can do instead of rating someones emotion as credible and justified or not on some vague scale of political correctness.
I could say i'm offended by the nick "sound god" since everyone knows there is no sound god, just the flying spaghetti monster. Is CCP going to act on that? Are they going to be the people deciding which religion to protect and which one can be mocked?
Let the players take their own responsibility for their actions including their choice of name, don't like someones name? Go out and shoot him and see if that makes you feel better.

I started topic not about the innerdeep meaning of nicknames or its resemblence to offensive words in other languages. It's about direct Russian F-words and obsceneties.
I know Russian players whose nicknames are meaning nothing but obscene and offensive words in Russian. They are aware no one among the devs understands Russian and that's the way they have fun in the game, calling themselves ... ummm... words of offensive sexual-genital or homosexual lexics... such as PIDARASIK, and different combinations including PIZD*, HUE*...
If it was a Russian forum - I would have been already banned for such words. I can't name them here in English you know. But it's really an unpleasant case to see such nicks in space or talking to you.
It's not a veeery big problem for me, but I was just asking what's the official point of view on the issue.

No it doesn't, neger is a descriptive term of someone black, from the latin negro, it has f*** all to do with the n-word, only PC correct people that won't even fly their own flag and sing their own national anthem 'cause it may offend some immigrant would interpret it that way.
And the band is called Turbonegro so I guess it's all about percieved intent.

If you're senstive and easily offended, you should probably avoid all international communities. Because its quite easy to get offended by others who might not intend to offend you among other-thinking other-speaking people.

I've never heard the word asnar before (and I'm swedish), so either it's a local thing, or someone is lying, or it's a word that's not longer in use.

I think many of you just don't understand that swearing in russian is ... well it sounds funny but... much much more developed than english, or any other language I know, the before mentioned pizda* and hui* words are a swearing buthemselves, but they also can be used in LOADS of situations, that some of english guys just cant comprehend. Its just a totaly different mentality and language. Lets take a small example: nipizdy - in russian means stop talking nonsense just a bit harsher..., but as you can see it has ni as negative part pizdy as ... well ...whatever... but thats only one of many examples... pratically almost every word for action in english ( or most other languages) can be switched with a partially swearing word in russian... of course that is more like a slang not the official language, but the boundaries are not so harsh, and swearings are much more varied than english f-word combinations. -- Make your life worth dying. Dutch players quite often convo me about my name.
It wasn't intentional as I'm not Dutch myself. I even petioned a GM about it, asking to get it changed (also a vain attempt to remove the number as we've all moved on from there)but they wouldn't have any of it and refused to change it. ---------------------------------------------

Actually, it's got jack-diddly-squat to do with being offended. Obscenities are not allowed in people's names, whether they offend me or not.
An obscenity wouldn't be an obscenity if somebody wasn't offended by it right? Discovery channel showed some African tribe where men wore leather pouches to cover their package and a string between their butt-cheeks and around their waiste to keep it up. I wasn't offended although I'm sure you'd be if I stripped down to a leather lunch box and danced around on your lawn. Obscenity is subjective.
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/obscenity
1. The state or quality of being obscene.
2. Indecency, lewdness, or offensiveness in behavior, expression, or appearance.
3. Something, such as a word, act, or expression, that is indecent or lewd.
4. Something that is offensive or repulsive to the senses.
