It's time for my yearly moan about CCP's consistent ignorance of the needs of colour blind players. I believe tthat this may be the 10th yearly moan. The last 9 have resulted in ZERO improvement and ZERO attention but I am compelled to keep trying.
The timing of this thread coincides with the recent introduction of wormhole colours.
CCP. Do you understand that a significant sector of your target population is colour blind? and that about 5% are severely colour blind?
Apparently there is some kind of new colour coded information in wormholes. A great many EVE players are unable to process that information. Thousands of players want some *additional* visual cue... Thousands of players are being ignored and have been for 10 years.
As a gaming company CCP has the chance to be the ONLY one that listens and accounts for the needs of colour blind players... Alas... they completely ignore colour blind players. .... again. for the 10th year in a row.
Last year some CSM guy clamped on to the idea an promised that he would get it on the agenda. For the first time ever I had hope of being heard.
He failed.
This year I don't want CSM "prancing" with no results. This year I want someone to clamp on to the idea and get CCP to include colour blind players in their test group.
Does CCP dare to listen? For the last 10 years the answer has been no. What about this year?

Zero.
That's a kind of question like "how many cafe's in Alabama allow blacks?"
You are suggesting that because no other game maker thinks about it that CCP shouldn't have to think about it either.
My point is that this attitude is completely friggen absurd.

As far as your response, precedent is used to make decisions whether you want to acknowledge it or not. "PvE in EVE is a trap to turn you into PvP content, don't confuse it for actual gameplay." Lipbite |

I'm pretty sure most FPSs have color blind support. At the very least, the CoD games do. You do make a valid point, though.

This is not absurd, however your unreasonable expectations are. I do agree with you that CCP should relay more information to assist those who are color blind. You being handicap does not need to force CCP into a situation dedicating resources towards a cause that effects a small percentage of their subscribers.
This is basically the same argument that linux users had. They screamed for support on the game. However the amount of linux users playing the game did not justify the cause. |

I detect a market niche EVE FAQ "7.2 CAN I AVOID PVP COMPLETELY?No; there are no systems or locations in New Eden where PvP may be completely avoided""So it will be up to a pilot to remain vigilant wherever they may be flying and be ready for anything at any time" |

Again, like the last 2 years i support colorblind additions to the game. For though I am not colorblind mtself, I have spent more than enough time playing with colorblind friends and having troubles because of it.
Seriously most of the color cue thing in the game could just have a color adjust slider (the kid I game with can handle shades of blue/green, but not red), or be switched to a different polygon. Most people at a glance can differentiate up to 7 sided shapes in a split second (beyond that youll start running into pixel size issues and that a 8 side vs a 10 sided gets harder and harder to notice quickly)
Like really, its pretty bs that in this age, when playing a game. 1 of my group of friends need to keep a livestream open on a spare monitor of another friends screen so we can tell him if hes getting locked onto but not shot at yet. (Though he cant tell whos shooting at him either because he cant see the box in the overview) |

What does this have to do with anything?
If the costs are prohibitive, make that argument.
If it is simply not feasible coding wise make that argument.
Using a variant of the argumentum ad populum is just stupid. Upgrading Local to Eliminate All AFK Influence So Local Chat vanished, now what? |

Battlefield Series - You can actually choose which type of colorblind you are, and it changes the friend/foes color tags accordingly
World of Tanks - Change the red enemies to blue Lowering the average to make you look better since 2012. |

I support this. Simply because it is not an unreasonable request, and is well thought out and researched as well as being presented in a civil manner.

~2.2% of males suffer from dichromacy, as in one of their three color receptors do not function at all.
It's a shame other games do not recognize this in their design. Hopefully CCP does though! Hey guys. |

As for the new wormhole effects, you can show info on them to see which ships they allow (which is what the colors identify). Not a brilliant fix or anything, but still...
... I support. +1 |
