I tend to believe ISS's version of the story.
You have brought up nothing new with your thread, seems to me you just want attention at the expense of ISS...
If you assert something back it up, it's quite simple. If you're going to attack someone's character you had better have good reason to...
The pilot's name is now in this thread, his previous actions also noted. Do you really believe someone would log off to avoid being detected by a covert ops while cloaked?
But this is all beside the point, my Corp mates told me this would just degenerate into a flame fest over this one incident, when the point was about highlighting a flaw that WE genuinely did not know existed.
Well now you know.
The flaw exists, and PvP'ers have been dealing with it for quite a while now.
Next time use the search in the top right corner for "pvp timer" and you can read many threads *****ing about this problem.
And why should I take your word over that ISS guys word when you come to the board with a childish, stomp your feet and scream attitude?

"This guy screwed up, if you jump blind into a 0.0 system you are rolling a dice that is a fact of existence out in lawless space.
Your options if you come up unlucky:
1/ Fight your way out - destroy the tacklers and leave, or, if youÆre that dammed good, kill them all.
2/ Tank until help arrives - in most situations it just isnÆt going to happen
3/ Go 'Full Burn' back to the gate without returning fire - Blasterthron in a sticky situation basically, jump through leaving your aggressors behind then get away from the other side of the gate fast.
4/ Put your head between your legs and kiss your ass goodbye - yup you screwed up and now you're going to die, that's life in New Eden...
Or you could just exploit faulty game mechanics giving you a 'get out of jail free' card...."
I am curious how exactly do you not jump into a system blind? Some kinda ingame feature i am unaware of or you got a leet cheat? or you use some lame alt to check if it is clear......
Sorry gate campers are lame, and the only reason people do it is because it is REDICULOUSLY safe and effective way to shoot fish in a barrel and call it pvp.
I wish CCP would have been much smarter about the entire warp and combat mechanics, scramblers are such total BS and it just leads ot safe gate camping. Should be a mechanic that while in combat warping gets severely slowed. I mean you suggest kill the tackler but you can;t, because they just warp out if your gonna get them, and you can;t stop them. EvE pvp has turned into a joke that is blobing, big or small same crap though. 3+ guys pwning 1 guy coming through a gate in a ship, if he brings friends? run away to your own SS, or get even more people!
Way to safe and to big of an advantage to gate campers right now. Sitting at a gate camping should be VERY risky, and it isnt that is wrong.

"I say this cuz he did the same thing to us 2 nights ago. I just watched him log in and out on my address book and he logged when he jumped into our camp the first time."
LOL the fact you can put someone in your address book to track thier online time is it's own version of a broken lame game exploit isnt it?

Address book, local... You name it.
There are "exploits" on both sides of the isle, and CCP already knows this...
Kali, we'll see changes to local, and hopfully for the better...
Maybe down the line, we'll see a solution for insta's, logging, loggin traps, etc...
Until the you have to adapt or b!tch, take your pick I guess... ------------------------------------------------ Current Hobby other than EVE

Also very true, and the OP coming here going "waa waa, I didnt get a faction BS killmail, sploit sploit SPLOIT I tell you" is equally lame. This game is full of dodgy mechanics, from people possibly avoiding inevitable death by logging to people putting others in their addressbook so you can track their logins from across the galaxy ... its the way the game is, and helping your epeen is no doubt low on the developers list of priorities |

Edited by: Heraklitus Nomidzon on 21/08/2006 23:31:12 I agree--I find this loophole infuriating.
Late last year my old corp Battle Angels along with the Triad staged a very organized, well planned out strike against a freighter convey. We jumped, crossed over a whole system, jumped again, had it all time just right so we would arrive at a gate right when two freighters did. They both came through along with their BS support into our fleet. We scrambled both freighters, then annihilated their BS support, and found, much to our surprise, that the freighters were gone.
They logged their freighters mid-jump to save them. It was impossible for us to destroy them despite our attempt which was, If I say so myself, brilliantly executed by our fleet commnander.
I was stunned. . .absolutely stunned when I was told it wasn't an exploit.
The solution seems to me obvious, and it's what everyone has already suggested: have the PvP timer start when a ship is aggressed, even if the player has already logged off.
It should also be reset every time a ship is newly aggressed. In other words, if you have a logged off capital ship on your hands, you have as much time as you need so long as you continue to activate your modules on it.

Nanobotter: Corp mates, Alliance security channels, map tools, scouts. When solo if you use the tools at your disposal you have to be really unlucky, generally by bumping into a hostile fleet that is on the move. Personally I rarely gate camp, it's really dull and going off solo is much more interesting, but then gate camping is very necessary strategy for all alliances.
Radioactive Babe: If you want to interpret it as "waa waa" then be my guest. The example was used to highlight an ongoing issue. IÆm not sure how using the address book comes under ælameÆ but each to their own I suppose.

when all's said and done, sad-sack pilots who would rather take the chickensh** option and log out as opposed to going down in a blaze of glory, or living with the mistake of blundering straight into a hostile gate camp are worth nobody's time anyway.
Really not worth getting your underwear in a bunch over, IMO. ____________________________________________________________

NO! you all have it wrong!
what we need is a big red and whie life saver button that we can click at any time and it means no one can attack us or hurt our ships. then we can go about mining and hauling without having to worry about the silly people trying to pew pew us.
in fact they should make a new game called EVE Online PVP edition which is where pvp'ers can go... and leave all the carebears on the current game...
Why should i even undock if there's a chance someone could blow my ship up? :(
