Just wondering if anyone knew any reasons for the lack of HACs on the market.

I have it on a very good authority that at least 2 independent producers of Ishtars and Eos are no longer producing for the market. They have established, or establishing relations with a 0.0 alliance or alliances, where they sell them ships, and 0.0 guys keep them happy with accsess and all other stuff.
Alliances fianly realised that it might be a good idea to allow small independent producers into their territory, in exchange for favourable prices. [Hi, I am an exclamation mark! What's your name? And no, I am not a Goon ALT] |

once again, the lottery system is pure crap.
some pay insane prices and have to wait several months, while those few lucky enough can fly them around as if they were pretty much disposable.

...probably because people aren't selling HACs to the market.
This could be caused by: *manufacturers stockpiling for war or profit *private deals (as suggested above) *third parties stockpiling for war or profit
This will promptly result in: *HAC price spikes *HAC availability shortages as people buy and mark up the last few popular ships *forum whines about finding and affording HACs
CCP will likely: *ignore the situation *call the situation "the market working as it should" *create an auto-reply for HAC petitions (if they don't already) and offer a beer for every dozen HAC petitions handled
Eve will likely: *not significantly change

Okay, so I missed that there will also be forum whines about the T2 lottery and the standard (pay attention now...) wheeling and dealing where people with money buy blueprints from those who want money more than a blueprint.
FFS, work within the game mechanics, don't whine about them. ----------------------------------

Because obviously 10-15 t2 ships and modules reflect the entire t2 market wich is made by hundreds of ships, modules and ammo. _______________________________________________

Would like to point out that the actual market is working as intended but the lottery is not working very well (atleast not aswell as we, the players wish) and its here the problem is. Not enough BPO's to satisfy the demand and thus the price rises.
Now for the plot twist. I'm not sure I want more tech2 BPO's out there, atleast not more HACs.
What if Vagabonds cost 50Million, everyone would have one and it would be warpcore stab hell.

Really, why is it such a problem? I though Tech II was supposed to be expensive and hard to get hold of? All I see in threads like this really are people complaining about the lottery system, probably because they missed out on something as ridiculously unfair as chance. 'But larkon!s j00r mis5ing teh point!11 I wnat to fli a HAC now?1?!!eleven' Tough, save up and you'll savour the ship all the more once you have you're hands on it. Just because something is more expensive why does that make the market is broken? Ever heard of supply and demand? It's not as if there are no HACs of any sort on the market at all for God's sake.

I think the tech II lotto will prove to be bad since the people who got the tech II BPOs, as far as I know, will always have them, forever.
I think they should, once a year, take them all back and re-seed them to prevent one person or corp having that advantage, forever. A little change is good. |

I like the tech 2 lottery. And no, I've never got anything from it. Why? Because it changing it from whoring missions to get things(which this game has more than enough of) to whoring to get a better chance. The only trouble is if the thing doesn't work as randomly as it should.
Honestly the lottery is the best solution to the problem in MMOs of everything being easily attainible if you are willing to follow some certain steps to get it. "Take this mission, kill this npc, then you get this super-loot, repeat"
Regardless, the lottery has, believe it or not, nothign to do with HAC prices. And this isn't a thread about the lottery.
"But Silver" you say, "the lottery makes all teh prices high!!"
No, it really doesn't. In any system*, what will happen? People will get the BPOs. These people will then make the deals that make them the most money for whatever level of effort they are willing to put in. And we are then in this exact same situation. HAC BPOs != CNRs, +5 imps, adn all the other things people currently get in quantities limited only by the amount of drudgery they are willing to endure.
*If the bpos were just freely availible on the market, this wouldn't be true. But it would defeat the point of Elite ships, wouldn't it? --------------

Pray to the devs that the whole invention feature coming out in Kali works as intended, and we might see the end of uber HAC prices.
Otherwise, get in line .

Also: supply and demand, more and more players are demanding them, so logically the price will rise. also CCP has not seeded any HAC bpo's recently to meet the demand.

on a completely different topic, it could be becuase there were a bunch of wars recently between alliance's which most likely caused a rise in demand, meaning that they cost more.

Is there any thread you don't troll?
How about... CCP end the lottery joke, introduce T2 BPO's to the market, and enable the raw capitalistic EVE economy to work as it should. Prices will stabalise at a point where T2 material and component manufacturers make a profit, ship builders make a profit, resellers make a profit and the end consumer get a product whos price is dictated by *true* supply and demand economics, not the current comedy system we have.

These are not market forces at work, because there is a false-scarcity. In a real market, it would be possible for more producers to enter the market when the margins for a product become high. This is not the case here. No amount of investment can ever allow for more production. That's not market forces at all. _____ Lifewire is a big, ugly, mean... carebear. |

Like Eralus said, the EVE market is nowhere close to a RL market.
In RL, when some company is making a killing off a product other people decide, "Hey, let's make a killing too!" and tons of other producers come into the equation. This in turn forces the original companies producing to either A) Make improvements or B) Sell it cheaper.
In EVE, there are only so many BPOs which inevitably end up in the hands of people who either A) Want to limit the production to their friends (alliance, corp, w/e) or B) Who want to sell them at a retardely high price because they won't ever have any competition. No one else can join that part of the market because of the lame lottery system.
Only way that the stranglehold gets eliminated is if the lottery system is changed, T2 HAC BPOs are put on the normal market, or my favorite. . .if CCP releases some better ships that make HACs pretty much obsolete. Don't really see that happening tho.... Deutschland. |

is there a t2 thread you don't post in it? Tech 1 is a joke. Tech 2 could use some improvements but not the rubish you propose.
And what would you suggest?
Invention will be intersting, but I don't see it being something that will magically fix T2 prices.
The way T2 is handled is just absurd. CCP can talk about immersion and all that jazz, but really, why the hell would some massive corporation give a priceless blueprint to someone who did some bull**** 'work' for them? Why wouldn't these creators sell the ships and blueprints themselves? You think Lai Dai and other corps wouldn't want the extra ISK?
Limited BPOs are just horrible in they can not only ruin risk vs reward, but you probably don't see a problem with people having the source of a fixed supply, which can negate their need to every worry about ISK, ever again.
Kali should transform all T2 BPOs into BPCs (with a decent run #), and make BPCs easier to get so that overall, a producer could still in theory, buy or 'work' with R&D to get the BPCs to keep up production, but they're going to work alittle harder for it.
And to be blunt: If CCP wants a player-driven economy, then they need to give real tools for it. Leaving people with BPOs and allowing 'invention' is fine and dandy, but the simple fact of the matter is, once you make a BPC, the idea of 'failing' after that is absurd. Once you reverse engineer something, you can churn out copies as fast as you want. The only thing that keeps it in check is copy protection, and that only does so much. I say give producers as much defense to copy-right infringement (not that any player would actualy have the rights to any t2 item, the npc corps would), that players have against corp theft. In other words, let players reverse engineer and make BPOs, and if producers don't like it, they can take 'revenge' just like a corp that has been robbed.
