BugraT WarheaD wrote:Alliances beetwen factions that are actually in war is very unlikely. Technically.. Only the Amarr and Minmatar are truly at war.
Gal/Cal have occasional skirmishes, but as a general rule they don't go looking for fights. (Luminiare was more an opportunity that couldn't be passed up, than a resurgence of war.. hence why nothing really happened after it.) Hell it's not the first time a major event happened between these two powers that could have lead to full scale war but both sites declined.. Kamikaze Nyx anyone? Caldari Prime also is a rather special case in relations, being the Caldari Homeworld, and in Gal space..
As a Gal, I personally would rather be working with the Caldari, than the Minmatar. Despite history, both sides are cultural.. compatable? They were together for a long time, so they already understand eachother. Neither side has shown any interest in a major war, expansion, etc. Both have stable Gov't, strong economies. And while I feel for the Minmatar, they do sometimes act like spoiled brats. What really irked me with them was right after Caldari Prime, the Minm sent a fleet into Gal space to try and retrieve a Prisoner. Now they got beat down, hard, but if this is what we can expect from our Allies, then I'd rather be with the Caldari, where they are less emotional and more, looking at the bottom line, so to speak.
Lastly, the Alliance between the Amarr and Caldari isn't one based on culture, shared ideals, etc. For the Caldari, it's about business, for the Amarr it's a buffer against the Gal.
Not to mention the fact that on a socio-economic way, the Caldari-Galtente are likely the two most closely tied empires. Right down to joint businesses.. I don't think you'll find any Amarr-Minmatar co-op's.
It is also worth reminding everyone that all empires HAVE worked together before, as a unified force. It's how the Sansha were originally defeated. They are more than able to do it if they feel it's in their benefit (or no other choice).
Personally.. I think Gal-Caldari getting closer, and Gal-Minm getting farther apart would make for some interesting events.. But this is all a little OT for the Drifter talk.
I think we need some drifters on the Jita undock.. maybe.. 40 or so.. I feel good things could come from this :) |

Here, you wanna go crazy-go-nuts with this, imagine: The Amarr and Minmatar have shown the least distress over the appearance of the Drifters....so......somewhere in this storyline, an event will cause the Minmatar and Amarr to join forces on behalf of the Drifters/Seekers, while the Caldari and Gallente are forced to either team up or be destroyed, thus redrawing the warzones in faction warfare. Now that would be a fun twist. I'm starting to think that these 'drifters'/'Vigilant Tyrannos' aren't actually Jove, but trying to make us THINK they're jove. Somebody, either sleepers or these guys, stole a whole bunch of jove bits through identity theft. And all the drifter pilots are virtually identical as far as we can tell. So... why do you need a bunch of exploded cloned jove bits, and then suddenly show up in heavily cybernetic bodies? This is completely precluding the whole 'Minmitar would only work with the Amarr willingly if the literal apocalypse (not the battleship) was at hand and the only chance to survive was to join forces. The whole 'slavery' bit is still a bit of a sticking point.
My assumption is that they are Jove, that either hit a limit with genetic modifications, turned to cybernetic. OR got exiled by the Jove becuase of their cybernetic mods, hence the name "Drifters". We all know how the Jove used to believe in genetic mods
They could be exploring with seekers to try and find new technologies. But I doubt that, considering how much more advanced they are.
I'm excited to see what we can learn from them though. New T3s, something like from sleeper loot (tactical destroyers), but from drifter loot (still don't like the idea of shooting them) or from SOE reaching out to contact |

Went to thera today for some sightseeing, and found something interesting:
Planet 8 (Thera VIII) is a shattered world but has a surface gravity of 17,3 m^2/s^2. Which is very weird because according to the data from https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Shattered_Planets shattered worlds have very very low surface gravities. Planets 1 to 7 in thera has correct gravities (in-game info windows shows their gravity as 0.0 but its correct).
So, either CCP made a mistake about planet 8's data or planet 8 is not a shattered planet, it might be normal but made to look like a shattered world so somebody or something can use it as hiding place.
Considering unidentified wh's used by drifters lead to thera, and some communication relay in one of the sites (Expedition Co....... i don't remember the full name) in thera says in its description: "... seems to be knocked out of comission by several precise energy weapon strikes to its processing cores(drifters use energy weapons)" i think theplanet has important role in drifter activity. |

so here's and after action report on the sleepers in Marosier.
i jumped to the unidentified structure today at 3pm (gmt) following their fleet (5 cruisers), at first they didn't attack me so i sat and watched them for a a few seconds before they started to do something to the jump beacon and for a brief moment it looked like the same effect as a webber or wormhole with the spherical center and wavy distortion effect but i didn't get a good look as they quickly attacked and i jumped the hell out of there.
I decided to go back 20 mins later and they where gone so i sat at 175Km from the beacon to see what they would do when they came back. after a few mins they came back and immediately locked and attacked again without hitting so again i jumped out to 100km from a station intending to go back again but they followed me there and attacked again but this time they took my shields down to 20% with their first shot and took 10% off my armor before i could jump again.
I'm going back to see if i can find out anything else.

Was it simply CCP laziness\oversight or this was intentional to make them all look like clones? Hm- looks like you got the answer to that now, at least partially

A blap Phoenix under similar conditions (double-faction web Vigilant) using Improved Crash and all relevant skills at 5 (excepting Caldari Dread 4) will 1-shot it through the initial shield layer. Another 3 volleys will finish it off, assuming it doesn't take out the webbing ship first. They have been known to do that on sisi.
If you bring a heated triple faction TP Hyena and a triple faction web Daredevil, then maybe.

I had a hilarious moment on a gate last night.
I jumped into a system and saw 2 drifter battleships and a sleeper just sitting there on a gate. With all the alpha these drifter bs give out I sat there in my cloak timer thinking hmm. do i decloak.. will i get blown up. at that point just before I decloaked all 3 ships warped off.
I Have kept up to date on the drifters to the point that I didnt know they hang around gates. Do they agress on gates now or only if provoked?..

So far as I know, they only agress unprovoked at the Jove Observatories (formerly Unidentified Structures) and Unidentified Wormholes.

Also on a blah blah note.
Wasnt there a summit of the leaders of all 4 races and concord regarding this recently. Sorry to be dumb but why the hell did they put themselves all in one basket.
Also why are concord treating any of them as a threat?. There killing chars left right and center. Surely this is enough reason for concord to blob them out of existence
