Quantum Rise with the great speed nerf did tons more for balance and variety than Crutch will .. most of what has been announced is cosmetic in nature with a few long overdue tweaks thrown in. The tier3 BCs are added because CCP need to close the book on the art competition fiasco and because they would never be able to sell it as an "expansion" with just UI, graphical and a few balance tweaks.
Unless they pull a life-threateningly obese rabbit out in the 11th hour Crutch will probably go down as one of the most hollow albeit desired patches - pardon me, expansions - in history. The biggest thing about it is that it represents CCP's acknowledgement of FiS being the ever important foundation upon which everything must rest. |

Apocrypha, in my eyes, is EVE's greatest expansion. I shudder to think where the game would be today without it. But like being saved by Spider-Man, everybody gets one; CCP has already stated that they will never again do anything Apocryphaesque. |

This is very much true. Having said that the vast majority of players have been chiming for an "iteration expansion" for a long while now, so if CCP manages to do exactly that we can't then say "meh, no new stuff, sucks".
To me this expansion very much depends on the hybrids rebalancing, if they manage to make them viable I'll be very happy. So far though, what we've seen on Sisi, this is not the case and in fact they gave Minmatar some more boosts compared to Gallente. Excellence is not a skill, it's an attitude. |

Crucible is hardly anything I'd call an "expansion". IMO the only new real thing they have added to to game is the tier 3 BC's. So can Crucible be called the best ever expansion ever since it's not really an expansion, F*** no.
However CCP is buffing, tweaking alot of things in the game, and I give them massive props for gitting their heads out of thier asses. And there is PLENTY more stuff to do to tweak allready implemented stuff in EVE. And lets be honest, CCP havn't tuched the core isues of game mechanics and content at all(null sec, low sec, FW etc etc.) BUT Crucible and with the added attitude change from CCP, that definately bought CCP enough time for a massive overhaul in the "expansion" coming after the Crucible.
Keep it up CCP, I have hopes in you again, and dont slack off.
And I think CCP is going to have a hard time beating Red Moon rising, Trinity and Apocrypha. Though I'd like them to give it a try |

They stated that before the jita protests/unsub autumn scared the holy bejesus out of Hilmar and the accounts department.
After having seen what the players "do" (rather than what they "say when unhappy) I fully expect Apocrypha scale expansions to be back on the table because frankly - unless CCP commit to this kind of development on the core game then they will end up with no money for anything else regardless.

Crucible is a tournequet patch on the sucking chest wound that was NeXCarna and a neccessary step in saving Eve from bleeding out in a dark ally.
The importance of this patch is not really its feature set but the demonstration that CCP have listened to what we the players "do" (when we're unhappy) and have committed to return to proper development and support of Eve Online.
Now the future needs to hold several Apocrypha scale expansions at 6 month intervals to return Eve Online to subscriber growth and get things back to where they were before the :18 months: of MT/NeX/Sellout insanity.

well question is, what exactly can you add to an game without breaking it after Apocrypha ?
If they find the way to add dozen of things, new things and find reason to do so, then ..
But the reason is no longer there, it has been added before, now its time to make it spotless... I guess

4 battlecruisers that don't really have a lot to add and some updated graphics, of which some are back from being removed. Not my idea if I hear the word "expansion". But well Captain's Quarters and PI Minigame clickfests weren't either. I guess I'm just too spoilt or demanding. |

Also note that this expansion will make pi less viable and even more soul crushing. Massive buffs to suicide ganking. Nullsec even more tightly controlled by ccp rmt friends. Pos ownership for small entities being massively nerfed including filling up every public manufacturing slot in the game. The good stuff is just sizzle. The bad stuff is really really bad. I don't think Crucible will be the big hit. I really really like the many small things to be improved and some new bling bling tier 3 BCs. The new nebuales are pretty, and really improve the immersion.
However there are still hundreds of annoyences which should be fixed, and I wonder if CCP will go for another big content patch for the summer expansion, leaving the road to make Eve a better game, instead introducing more monocles.
Especially the new player owned custom offices and the fuel blocks for POSs are, well in my opinion, useless.
I lold, it doesn't make fueling POSs much easier, you still have to manufacture those fuel blocks and that introcuces an extra step. Sure you can easily see how many hours the pos will last by the count of fuel blocks in the hanger, I still find the fuel tab in pos management more convenient, as expresses duration in days not in hours only. In addition to that fuel consumption and total maintenance of POSs is increased now that utilization of CPU and PG is always at 100%.
The new custom offices just add additional cost to players doing PI, especially in wormholes. There's not grace period as far as I understand the new system. So, again, some people fighting over things in the non hisec systems, which is already the case, but does it really add to the game? CCP should have sold this by improving the PI UI, which is still painful to use(Ever used the duration slider?).
EDIT: Apocrypha was a great expansion. Best thing I've seen in years! |

Fixing small things 0_o what happened to the old CCP and where did you hide all the bodies?! It seems like there has been a 180 degree change in direction, and I'm more excited than ever to see what this means for the future. I am pretty sure after this expansion there will be a lot of imbalances. So again what will come next is nerfing this and that. Mostly for PI and for the new ships which are overpowered imho and make other ships useless.
Balance is most important. And its not easy to do that. You can do it only with small steps. And the next expansion will be a huge step which for sure will inbalance a lot.
And taking back chocolate from players always isnt fun. Not to mention the frustration of Mothership pilots. They will hate this expansion. |

A lot of this thread continually confirms that the majority of Eve forum poasters are whiney spoiled brats or trolls or most likely both.
It's plainly obvious to those who aren't trolling or aren't so disconnected from reality, that CCP has done a 180 on Eve in the right direction. Iteration is a good thing, you guys should try playing every aspect of Eve before you cry about not enough new features. Run a corp or run multiple POS's, or do both, you'll go insane by the amount of tedium involved, but CCP is starting to make headway in that direction, as well as many others, that signals to me how srs they are about Eve. There's expansions worth of iteration left to do in Eve, and it's finally happening.
For less than two months of work, from what I've seen on SiSi, is nothing short of impressive, and this has been mentioned quietly before in the thread: think of all the awesomeness they can get into a proper cycle of development. Until then, keep Glenn Becking it up here on the forums with your crybaby, rabble rousing posts. |

Yeah, me too. Assuming you don't delete too many important files on my computer, or make graphics cards rip themselves out of their sockets and run off in fear, this patch promises to be a greater improvement to EVE than any I have experienced, Apocrypha included.
It might not introduce that much new stuff to play with, but it makes A LOT! of the old stuff less annoying and more fun. \o/
And lets face it, EVE really needed getting its pipes flushed, oil changed and pixel rust scrubbed. Lots of new and not-so-new players were less than impressed by the bugs, inconsistencies, flaws and "Huh!-moments" they encountered, and then being met by "LOL! You must be new here!" by all the older players when wondering if CCP was going to fix, a non-trivial amount of them left. This expansion won't attract hordes of new shiny-eyed players, but it will make a difference in making more players stay. And less bitter older players will also make new players feel slightly more welcome. Possibly.
Also, as a Gallente player, suddenly a whole new world of midslots opens up, that can be used for something else than cap recharge..

To be fair, just because we can't point to one major point of expansion, doesn't make all the small but significant expansionlets count up to nothing!

The new bling is cool, to be sure.
However, running my little highsec manufacturing gig just got more expensive (because of PI), and adding an extra step into feuling my POS is a bit annoying (although I can understand how this makes life easier for the bigtime operators). Lowsec PI seems like a waste of time now as well, and that used to be a fun minigame dodging pirates.
Maybe the new shiny stuff will offset these annoyances somewhat. |

I just saw this and it made me happy : We have boosted the bandwidth of links to be 10 times bigger to deal with the hassle of constantly upgrading them.
Pocos are turning all lowsec pi unviable all wspace pi impractical and all nullsec pi alliance approved only. And all highsec pi more expensive. I see. Well I only do hi-sec PI so POCOs don't affect me. Then again if less people in lo-sec do PI, my hi-sec PI becomes more profitable because of higher demand :) Or your planets get overcrowded by people stepping in to meet the supply shortages. And don't forget it will cost you twice as much to do as before. No one benefits from these changes except griefers and dusters (also griefers.) |

great to hear this. i hope you guys get around to putting an end to Winmatar and Drake online. im tired of seeing just Canes and Drakes on my overview/kb. a good step would be to slightly nerf those ships, and buff rails to something usable. right now, only laserboats are balanced in by opinion. |

A lot of stuff remains to be done, some that was intended to be on crucible (hybrids rebalance) couldn't be done properly in the time frame but will be looked at continuously until is satisfying: said Mr CCP Tallest.
There's so much work done, almost everything players ask for months or years, new stuff, improvements of all kinds, needed downgrading Super pownmobiles to Super ships to train for, awesome nebulas, engine trails, cyno effects, warp tunnel, stars and I could continue for a long while.
Yes I do think it's an awesome expansion overall.
Best of all, better than all the stuff we had improved, changed, added whatsoever, Dev's are now more present with us than I've ever seen them and this thing here in my eyes is extremely important for everyone from players to dev's and by extent the company.
I'm still hungry about my hybrids stuff (rabble) but I'm very happy about all the stuff I've tested on SISI (except hybrids: rabble again) I just can't wait to see all those that couldn't be there have such fun on TQ has I did on SISI.

Glad to hear this confirmed CCP Guard. That statement from Soundwave that there would never again be an Apocrypha scale expansion was one the most depressing things I heard about Eve this year and it made me seriously question why I was continuing with the game. I'm very glad you guys have turned it around and seen the flaw in that line of thinking.
I really look forward to CCP committing to visionary and epic Expansions again that significantly change the game.
And while you're at it please make sure the PI guys read this :

Put me down for cautiously optimistic. This "expansion" has all the hallmarks of serious shifting of gears. Nothing super major new, but yea and verily there are fixes to the interface. Dvorak be praised (no I don't use a Dvorak keyboard, you prat, that was just a geek reference - yeesh).
December is approaching and on the original time schedule (based on the most recent fan-fest) this was when were supposed to start seeing some news on the DUST 514 beta. This has not happened. I can only assume that the hitting the breaks and changing directions we're seeing via Crucible are the cause of that. I hope that in the spring we can start seeing news on DUST 514 that's a little more concrete.
In the meanwhile I'm getting ready for the patch.

It's a possibility. What I wonder though...
- A warning message is now displayed when trying to offline a grouped weapon.
Why not just offline or remove the group together, like when adding or removing ammo?

No, i recall i did like POS bridges and POS's in general at first (what was that? RMR?, NFI tbh), but nowadays i tend to think we'd been better off without them.
One thing i do like however is WH space. That at least is new and rough (well, to someone that returned a month ago it is). Other then that it looks like the last two years have been one big piece of WOWing it up. Tossers |

There are a lot of good and welcome changes, but it doesn't really feel like an "expansion" to me. It feels more like a much needed, much welcome, great big patch. That's not a complaint or derogatory reference, just an opinion. I really love some of the things they have fixed/patched, especially papercuts items and logoffski fix.
However, I feel the PI change is exceptionally destructive to the game. By extension, CCP Omen is also. The fact he has a title "game designer" is, all at the same time, illuminating, hilarious, and sad. That single change will be very destructive to Eve and it's paid subscriber count for a very long time to come. Of all the changes, this change is the one CCP is going to regret the most. It is just terrible, terrible game design.
Lastly, the insane buffs to destroyers dps in pvp is going to be a long term problem for CCP, because once the issue demonstrates itself, they will entrench and not address it as a problem.
On the whole, though, I am proud of CCP in general, their refocus on FiS, and I hope for more great things in the future. |

Bolded the important part.
The fact that in "less than two months" you're created "probably the second largest expansion for EVE ever" makes me absolutely LIVID considering all the time and effort spent over the past three years working on things other than "Ships in Space".
Where would the game be if you had this level of focus and commitment during the past three years? The lack of diligence is CRIMINAL.

Umad Bro?
This PI Nerf is a PI Buff. It pushes people towards low sec and 0.0 without forcing them. Personaly i dont think the NPC tax is enought but it is a good start.
You can now move your PI Operations to low sec and Pay 0% tax.
People can also attack them so you also get PVP from it. But any 0.0 alliance will do there PI in 0.0 So that means you only have to fight/Avoid Pirates in general. This means low entry levels.
PI Changes are Awsome. More changes like this CCP put the power in the hands of the players. |
