The Tournament
The tournament will take place next weekend, i.e. 24th-25th of October, the delay was done because there was a lack of time to plan this tournament. The voting will how ever end tomorrow so champions and their wingmen that get into the tournament will have a week to plan their strategies. But note that additional combat rules might get added as stated here below, if there will be additional rules they will probably be published through the news sections and of course adressed to you from the referee at at the arena.
The volunteer team will be located at a chat channel called "Championship" and will be moving teams over to a solar system that will be used for the fights, the location of where you are when the volunteer moves you to the arena does not matter. A volunteer will be a referee in each matches.
The battle takes place inside an arena which is a box by objects that have a collision radius to close it where both teams start at flags called "Red Team Buoy" and "Blue Team Buoy" which are 30KM away from each other. The arena is a closed box by collision objects where players will not be able to leave the arena, approx 40KM in lenght, height and width.
When someone from a team looses his ship but the team gets to continue, a volunteer will be there to move the person back so that he can get himself a new ship and new equipment. But we ask players to take enough charges with them, i.e. missiles, ammo cap charges etc.
House Rules
Ardishapur Amarr only No Minmatar ships allowed
Sarum Amarr only Amarr ships only
Tash-Murkon No Rules
Kador No Minmatars allowed No Minmatar ships allowed
Kor-Azor No Rules
Combat Rules
- Light missiles, defender and rockets are allowed in this tournament, no other missile types
- Champions and wingmen are only allowed to fight for one team, champions and wingmen can not be wingmen for other teams
- If a champion fails to show up at given time, his team loses the fight
- A team can proceed into a fight if wingmen are missing
- A champion is not allowed to replace wingmen during the fights within the houses
- A champion is not allowed to replace wingmen during the final fights
The volunteers will adress any other rules during the combat tournament and/or will be posted later.
Rules Addon:
- Only light drones are allowed in the tournament
- Target Jamming modules are not allowed

"* Light missiles and rockets are allowed in this tournament, no other missile types"
... Does it mean, no defender missiles allowed?
(ok, light missiles aren't exactly something one'd probably bother to protect themselves from.. still, just curious)

Ships, ammo and equipment and where to meet up at?
If I lose a ship in the first wave yet my team wins and moves on to the next match do i have the chance to get a new ship or does my team progress without me? Also if we move on and I do not lose my ship I will certainly want to re-arm so how will that be accomplished?
Also, you say rockets and light missiles only but do not mention defender missiles are they or are they not allowed?
What system do we need to be in before the start of the matches? This is in 2 days and a little more info is certainly needed and warranted. Do I need to begin moving ships and equipment to a certain location? Ammar for example? Not trying to be annoying but this is info that I'd like to have and begin moving stuff for as it is quite a few jumps to ammar for me from my base of operations. Please reply soon CCP.... An hour before matchtime does no one any good

Hmm, that makes things interesting. I'm sure a lot of teams were planning a cruise missle barrage as their opening move. Now they'll have to think about it more.

Posted extra info:
- Defender missiles allowed - Location of where you are when the volunteer moves you does not matter - If player looses ship but his team continues in the tourny, a vol will be there to move you to where you can get another ship and equipment - We ask players to take enough charges with them, i.e. missiles, ammo, cap boosters etc.

This is pretty damn late for rule changes since people have spent weeks getting ready for it utilising certain setups.
Thanks guys, ta for changing so much so late, in addition it was NOT at any stage made clear that the initial house champions fight would be with wingmen.
Everyone knew about wingmen after house champions had been decided. Many respective entrants did not know that wingmen would be required in the initial stages.
Should be interetsing. Great timing on the massive changes in rules.

Edited by: Kronarty on 16/10/2003 18:51:36 Any kind of competition that has these massive rule changes like less than 24 hours before it starts is doomed to cluster-f*ck hell.
So now the in-house trials are 4v4 instead of 1v1, so now no cruise missiles can be used, so now you get to fight in a box, completely dismissing the possibility of a long-range fighting or other range-dependant tactics.
1st the jovian f*ckup with the miner2
2nd the stupid "let's have a TL2 bp giveaway party in the most unfriendly-to-foreigners region of eve"
3rd the stupid^2 container event in which people were typing the answers to the riddles in a certain corp's channel even before the riddles were said by Nebulai.
4th This sudden change of rules.
I am seriously wondering if EVE GM's consist of a bunch of trained monkeys with typewriters and bananas up their arses.
Seriously CCP, do you actually PLAN anything beforehand? Or is everything planned like that HW upgrade yesterday and this championship?
PLAN! Do you know what that word means??!?!?

I posted a thread last night as a plea to delay the tournaments until next week, but it didn't seem to get any responses and is on page 4 : My reasoning: for one, these rules were just now introduced. There will be just ONE day for champs to prepare for this.
Consider the players nearer to the 16th place on the votes: What if they gather all their equip in this small time frame, only to find out someone pulled ahead at the last moment and they can no longer compete? Likewise, what about those that are @ #17-18, and don't expect to get in--SO, they don't buy any equip or ship--and THEN, they either catch up or some players before them are DQed because of faction standings. They will only have ONE day to gather 5x ships/equipment for each player in their team, assuming they even found wingmen in the first place. And then even, they won't have had any time to practice working as a team. IMO, unless the dates for the tournament are pushed back there will be a lot of teams that forfeit.

Holy crap... what a bunch of whining.... From the first time I read a post, I assumed Wingmen would be allowed in the house fights.......
If you are 17th or 18th in the voting, then be prepared to fight.... No Excuses.... |

Then you did not read the first rules that were posted, the ones valid until now.

First - Am I interperting this right, that once a team looses ships but wins the fight all teammembers get on to next level?
Next - they then need to refit for lost ships: they get picked up by a "volunteer" and dropped to a place somewhere in EVE universe? --> way easier to get replacement for lost ships!
All fights of pre-selection in a row? there are 16 teams per house suposed to fight at one eve ... all in a row? or do we have to wait in the line?
Rule changes that late - no comment! ***********************************************

Correct.

They will drop you to your desired location, so you would have to have more ships and equipment ready at a location so you could pick it up if you would loose your ship during a combat but your team would win.

A timetable will be published on the championship page.

very good change, and the house rules are all very reasonable and in line with the ideals of each house
and if anyone had planed for something else then the house wants then they obviosly choose the wrong house

One virtue of combat, is the ability to change tactics in split seconds.
Same goes for strategy, supply lines can get cut, the enemy is not what you thought he would be etc.
The mark of a true warrior is his ability to adapt to changes - fast!
(and not whine about it - sheesh already....) BIG Lottery

TomB - If I'm reading your statements accurately the teams will not leave the arena and must carry all their modules and ammo with them to the arena.
If this is true could the team bring a secure container with all that equipment with them? If I'm misreading this then ignore this but the way I understand what you wrote leaves me a little confused.

@ Red Six
As I understand it, you will need your ship fully outfitted and with plenty of ammo in your cargo hold for the fight. If your ship is destroyed, you will be moved to the location you have your backup ships and equip--where you will once again put together your full setup with plenty of ammo in cargo, and will be teleported back to the tourney system. ______________

This change is good news. After finding out that Kor Azor was scheduled for a Friday originally - I thought I would have to pull out due to work commitments.
Also - I like the way the house rules reflect the character of the houses.
This should be a blast.

oh, there is 1 question that a lot of ppl are wondering probably- accidental pod kills? ie from a barrage of missiles killing a ship and pod all at once? and whats to stop people ejecting just before they get hit and delib getting podded, causing the other team to be disq. ?
