Edited by: Major Stormer on 11/09/2006 21:25:21 Well, i have a pretty large collection of eve fan made vids, and i like a lot of them :) And i was wondering if there was any truely GREAT ones i had missed. Therefore, please promote the video that you feel you truely enjoyed and loved the most.
Personally, i felt it was eve online vanguard. just pure awesomeness :)
So, whats yours? ( 1 small rule, please dont use this thread to promote videos you yourself have made, to try and keep it fair and without bias :) ) --------------------------

In my eyes the videos made by LLeBRing are among the best eve movies ever made. not just because they were well made but because they tell a story. For me videos that tell a story are far ahead of the standard gank videos.
Im afraid i dont have a link to these videos. im sure tehy will be on eve-files. the two LLeBRing made were: VOTF: The exodus cronicle which recounts operations of a CA corp back in the day and The Great northen war which tells the story of that War.

and yes, the VOTF film was nice, cant help not noticeing a few spelling mistakes/grapic errors and that like however :( they are still around to, nice corp...killed one the other day :) --------------------------

I have to pick just one?
Tough, because I can't really go for one of the technically impressive ones. Alright, my vote's going to one of the less well recognized videos, but one I've watched more times than I can remember and one which never fails to inspire me.
Rising, enjoy.

I gotta say Lowa - Why we do it .
It is probably the best inspiration vid that is made to this date in my opinion of course.
Then we got Farjung vids which is really great to see nice PvP action.
I also gotta vote Damige for some nice vids with the Lock 'n Load series showing nice editing work and good effects.
Sorry for no links, but can`t be arsed to look them all up. Just use Eve-Search to find them.
Lowa - Why we do it Farjung - Wave of Mutilation, Reckless, Wave of Mutilation 2 Damige - Lock 'n Load 1/2/3

The link isn't working for Rising.
1. Lowa's Why we do it. 2. Vanguard Chapter 1 -still waiting for chapter 2.
Just about any MC vid, and LLeBring vids have a grandeur not found in the standard gank flicks.
And this one doesn't count as its not in game footage, but the evolution trailer 1 and 2 are just amazing. Hoping Biff and company are on track for the fanfest. ----- ------------

I'm going to make this sticky for a while - It'd be really cool if people could post a link to what they consider to be their top 3/5/10 etc Videos so that newcomers can consider a good selection to get started with.
Perhaps someone can recommend some kind of voting system to get a proper chart going ?

Bless you. Somehow missed this one. d/l'ing it now.
As to the top vids, the ones that have stayed on my hard drive the longest:
1. Why we do it 2. Eve Never Fades 3. Chapter 1- Vanguard by Meridius 4. Empire War by Pencheven 5. Original recruitment video by M corp. 6. MC and LLeBring vids. (more than a couple) 7. Things to do in EVE as a noob -my personal favorite for funny. 8. Episode 1 by Verone 9. Iron- Its Electric 10. Burn the Map. -I don't like the entire video, but the first 3 minutes are cinematic like nothing else.
Plenty more, but that's my personal top ten favorites. ----- ------------

My absolute favorite videos come from Dave Tehsulei, formerly of Atomic Battle Penguins, and Kaeten, formerly of Reikoku and Hybrid Syndicate. In fact it took me a while to find my own style as I mimiced these videos too closely in the first few edits of my own work-in-progress videos.
Anyway, I think I have about 20 gigs of videos. Here are my favorites in no particular order:
1. Atomic Battle Penguins videos 1-4 2. Kaeten's Meatshield and Rebound 3. Kale Ryoko's Burn The Map <3!! 4. Farjung's Wave of Mutilation videos 5. Lyticus' A Pirate's Life 6. EVE Never Fades 7. BoB Easter by Kraph - I still consider it the best fleet video ever 8. A couple assorted Verone videos. >.>;; 9. Some former ABP guy (think he left the game) made a smartbombing Raven video that was sheer class, funniest thing I've seen in a video but I can't find it 10. Not ATUF by Trey Azagthoth

I still get mails that ppl like my Pilgrim Video (behind enemy lines)... like 3-5 per week.
Dunno i can't nominate myself but i really like my "Pilgrim - Behind enemy lines" since it's one of the rare recon videos. (I'm working on a new recon video with gal/amarr recons). I don't like my 2nd Video that much. That's why it's encoded in such a low bitrate since it's not worth to be 200mb.

The sound in that one is particularly important and the song running through the first two thirds is just soo cool and fits so well. I had to go buy a CD. Not sure if you are doing something wrong...download it again.

I have to agree imo this is the very best player created movie I have seen, it has such deep feeling, the score is outstanding, the editing superb and overall just totally awesome. I have watched this movie more times than I can remember and never get tired of it. Nightwish - Sleeping Sun, couldnt have chosen better, the sound bites from fight Club, & awesome Camera work. 11/10 rating from me. My views do reflect that of my corp coz I'm the frickin boss!

I posted this elsewhere, but thought it deserved a second mention. For me, my absolute favourite PvP movie is Battleship Gnosis by Heraklitus Nomidzon. It has some fantastic fights, both small scale and those approaching 'fleet', as well as one of the coolest music mixes yet. There's also some nifty editing in there too, with accelerated sections and use of TS communications.
It was all summed up when the MC said, "With the Battle Angels, it sounds like they're sipping tea when they PvP". This film captures that perfectly; reserved, efficient and just plain cool.

- I am into small gang battles and solo pvp videos, fleet videos are not my cup of tea.
Farjung's videos (Blasterthron & Vindicator going bananas, almost 100% solo.) Damige's videos (some for content, some for amazming editing, some for both !- If you like fleet combat, "Damige Control" series is a must-see. ) Lyticus's videos (the dude has great balls of fire, and you can surely tell this guy plays for challenge and fun.) "The Eos Movement" (Eos?)
Most of all, I like a movie called: Last G Campaign It has no solo pvp so I really wonder why I like it.... The way the movie is put together, tells a real story. It is way more than a collection of pvp footage. .....if this video was just pvp footage and no story, it wouldn't be worth jack to me. This is how much the story-telling means to me.
I hope "Last G Campaign" is the prototype of the next generation EVE movie.

I was told good things about this video - but i watched it and wasnt impresed, despite dirtballs rep for being a solid vaga pilot. I found it mostly boring and ganky. And im sure he had stabs on.
The Eos Movment is a very good video imo - strong action from an experienced pilot, and doesnt give you any crap kills, none of the fights are anything but 'stacked' odds wise - it opens with him in struct, and a blasterthron ontop of him, while under sentries too. Its good stuff :)

LLebrings video was the one that started them all, if you havent seen them both the GNW and the CA ones, then you really havent seen someone who was at the time pushing the envelope WAY beyond what others were doing.
I have over 60 gig of Eve Vids, and among those there are some real class acts. Lowa and Leafo especially for me.
Farjungs Vindi and Axels Beserk vids are also very nice, and of course the 2 KIA vids are very nice.

Originally by: Dash Ripcock I posted this elsewhere, but thought it deserved a second mention.

Too many good vids, imho - and there are good vids in each era in Eve that has burned themselves into my Cerebral cord:
Why we do it - Lowa CoC vids(maybe first one) - Mitchman. Berserker Angel I - Axel. Eyeshadow - (his Ishtar vid, cant remember the name of it) The G vid - cant remember its name either - but it had good Tempest action Farjung vids are all good to me. Atomic Penguin vids - Dave Tehsulei. Das Bot - Celestial Apocalypse. Vanguard - Meridius. Drunken One vid where he frapsed his losses to Randay, amongst other things. The Fallen - Can't remember the name of the creator atm. Fragms Raven vid - its been 2-3 years since I saw it, but I still remember it fondly.
And many many others... Which I don't do justice coz this is just on top of my head. _____________________________________

I'm very surprised not to see anyone mention the video one of D2 made for their Titan "Emily" with the Raemonn song "Super Girl" as the theme tune.
Unfortunately I don't have the link, just a copy on my home PC. It's a superbly directed video though, with great camera work and avoided all the usual "lots of explosions" clichT.
Does anyone have the URL for it?

I like vids that show good fights, almost always outnumbered, when you win with just your hull burning and a field of wrecks around you, very few vids that managed to ... "satisfy" me. If i had to choose, some of Cown's vids - mostly the older ones, Ugluuk's Master of the Universe and Something Burning, Farjung's Reckless - i don't like the vindicator ones because it's not a ship i could afford to fly, lyticus's a pirate's life, Kil2's Genesis, The Xtremist's 2 Pulse-geddon vids, off-c the entire list of ABP vids, mostly because of their main star - Fatballs, but also because of great editing, good comments, well selected action, Fata's vid of 800mm T2 Tempest, kessah's series of Forever Pirate, the old Angel Deep Corp vids made by Trepkos, off-course the Berserk 2-3 - haven't found 1 yet, and probably many other that i don't recall right now. ;)
Rifter is not X-Wing CCP. Trinity model kinda sucks. |
