Edited by: Wrayeth on 26/09/2006 19:44:46 Since I just got hit by a freakin' login queue (I had to wait 5 minutes just to log in, FFS!), this patch can't come at a better time.
(Normally I take TQ's little glitches and the like in stride, but this one is ridiculous.) -Wrayeth

If it has an accel gate, you can't use it.
Using capships to run level 4s is just wrong. It's like using a Raven with Assault missile launchers to run level 2s.
in all honesty, i dont mind cap ships for lvl 4's. The difference is the impact and reward are minimal as a return for the capital investment, though I do still believe lvl 4's should be moved completly to low sec still. The main focus here is being able to completely negate risk in the high end complexes with cap ships or even the need for logistics and that is what should rightly be nerfed as these plexes were never designed and balanced for cap ships and the reward is far too high & regular for something so easy and static.
Doesnt rule out the future possibility of cap ship use in future plexes/missions designed for them ofc. I guess we too need our 'outland'

Edited by: Phoenix Lonestar on 26/09/2006 20:06:34 17,500 players on last night... and I was 264 in queue to login.
About friggin' time, CCP. Took you three weeks, but I'm sure when this patch fixes the lag issues, I'll forget about all the negative things I said.
That being said, you guys definitely did the right thing by not waiting for Kali before fixing issues. It looks like the message "FIX, DON'T ADD!" got through.
I'm glad to see the changes to the deadspace gates... but isn't it kind of... I don't know the word I'm looking for... deceiving? no, but it'll do, to say "Deadspace gates". Why don't you just say "Cap ships are now unable to do anything except rat belts and PVP." Since Dragon turned EVERY mission into a deadspace mission.
Edit: This ain't the thread to be whining about lvl 4s. CCP won't force carebears into low sec for you to prey on, as it should be. The risk vs. reward has been beaten into the ground, and the risk/reward is clearly in favor of nobody. Each side has their strengths and weaknesses. Move along, nothing to see here.
Edit: I also don't think this is the thread

I assume you mean the problem in general has been fixed, as other levels were messed up too. I know for sure that I had at least one level 3 give me a level 1 storyline. I was getting worried that I would end up with a long string of petitions all titled ôwrong level storylineÆ. I had to put in three just yesterday. (Kudos to GM responses so fast they caught me by surprise.)

Cause there is no way an armor tanker can deal with it. Great Job CCP, Break another thing that doesn't need breaking because you're not creative enough to fix something right.
You retracted, but your opinion is still wrong. Capital ships were never ment to be able to use gates.
And any 10/10 or COSMOS is easily do able without capital ships. You'd be suprised what a friend or two can do for you.

Pretty sad that if you've played for 3 years, something like "no capships in deadspace" is what makes you leave...
I'm sure using a Moros and its stupidly overpowered drones can be fun for doing level4s in 30 seconds, but comeon...

I think this means you will be able to jump to a jump clone in another station from the station that has your regular clone in it. Were not able to after the first two Dragon patches.

Lets see. Moros is a Dreadnought, it cant use XL drones (fighters). You must mean a Thanatos which is a carrier and can. Fighter drones cant hit for **** vs smaller targets. If you end up lose one its like lose a battlecruiser, cost about the same. If you think someone can do a level 4 missions in 30 sec with a carrier it says more about you and your lack of experience.

Edited by: x2pixel on 26/09/2006 21:54:15 well, as a complete nooblet I have to say I really do hope the new patch fixes the lag.
I am fine doing the pve missions, good fun, though getting a bit repetitive after 4 weeks already. Some occasional nice loot helps though ;)
BUT....
The lag in pvp is ridiculous. My corp (Eve Uni) is being war decced by some peeps that like to blow up nooblets. We mustered a force of about 20 frigs/destroyers, enagage them, get one of the BS down to about 10% structure and then the node crashes.
wtf? this is a MMO right? The first I ever played and it cannot handle 'battles' of over about 3 ships. Very disappointed because what I have played of the game shows it has so much to offer.
I was in my Caracel being chased by the noob griefers, jumped 4 systems, them following. Eventually got podded, but wow my adrenalin was at 3.000%. Was very cool.
My brief taste of pvp in another fleet battle (i.e. the other one, only had two fleet battles so far ;) ) was also bloody amazing. But still lag spoiled it.
If CCP really can fix the lag, then wow. But if not, I am really not sure I will stay, because pve only goes so far in a game that depends on pvp.
fingers crossed CCP :)
edit: my alt is in Eve Uni, keep on forgetting to change the default post thingie :)

It has been like it for all the time I've been playing (10 months) and has got progressively worse. I hardly pvp at all anymore which is ironic since I chose Eve because it had the most 'hard core' pvp mechanics.

Just something for the linux players, but this PATCH also should be solving the XP regression issues in the client that we've been having with Cedega right? I"m kinda' surprised that wasn't mentioned at all after the bits recently between Transgaming AND CCP. The last testing on SISI that I did confirmed that the client no longer hung for long periods of time on logins /gate/station/ sessions changes.
It would have been nice to see this mentioned as well, as there are quite a few of us who have been patiently waiting for this fix to allow us back in the game via cedega 5.2.6. ----- ------------

Can someone please explain to me how exactly denying capital ships access to deadspace gates is an "Emergency server fix".
And secondly, i presume if you are removing capital ships from being able to run level 4 missions, i presume you are removing battleships from level 3 missions, and battlecruisers from level 2 misisons, and even cruisers from level 1 missions. I dont think so.
And NO! before you ask.. i dont fly a capital ship. I just think this is the most stupid idea in a string of decreasingly sane ideas. And i for one have been playing this game for a long time, And until now have wined about nothing. But this is the last straw. Me and alot of people like me are getting very upset and unhappy with this seemingly endless moving of the goal posts as stated in a post above.
Stop breaking things that dont need to be fixed. and fix the things that are broken.
And to those people that argue that capital ships are only meant for PVP, then i suppose Battleships are only meant for PVP as well, or any other ship. I mean you dont NEED a battleship to do a mission, a HAC or a Cammand ship can do the same missions, so maybe we should see battleships banned from deadspace as well yes? When i look at the description of a carrier or a dreadnaught i dont see anything in the description of any of these ships that states "ONLY FOR PVP".
So please feel free to attack my observations and opinions in a sensible manner as i would like some "constructive" comments with regards to my views in order to set my mind at rest.

You haven't reading about the non-stop stream of exploiting going on with deadspace have you? Apparently not. There is much more getting 'fixed' than just the nerf on cap ships, but the nerf was/is needed. ----- ------------

As was pointed out they were never supposed to be allowed there in the first place and this patch isn't a patch just to fix that it just happens the fix for that was ready at the time they needed to do an emergency patch so it was added to be fixed.
I've tested running 10/10 complexes in a mothership/carrier and they easily rip them apart so theres your reason for not letting them do high level missions, a carrier can shread a player fitted BS in no time at all so you think its gonna even blink at popping NPC's? ---

Sometimes things change for game balance. You have no holy right to play the game a certain way. You do have the right to stop giving CCP money.
And actually, using an overpowered ship in a mission is often more of a pain than it's worth. Slowboating a battleship through a long level 2 is tedious. Furthermore, there's not a whole lot of economic impact from that 50k/mission you're pulling in with little work. You could almost certainly make more and have more fun by using a more well-matched ship.
For that matter, they _do_ block ship sizes sometimes. Notice how level 1 worlds collide doesn't allow big ships in? Because it's unbalancing to allow a noob in a cruiser in to just bbq everything in sight, when the intentions are basically for you to run through.
In short, missions are balanced to a particular group/size of ships. Bringing friends along to make it easier is both a) good for society, and b) splits the isk. Bringing huge ships in with 4 times the tank and gank power does neither. |

This is one item among many in a 'fixes and improvements' patch, the majority of which are changes and fixes to the stability issues TQ has been having in recent weeks. No new content is being added in this patch.
