I think I qualify for that position.
but what I realy think sould be done is buy X number of ships in some corner of space, and give them out, on a first come first service basis.
Also I would like you not to turn it in to something like ''make me the best sig'' that would not be fair to, say, me, seeing as im not creative :p

You could always give it to those corps who get new players involved. Eve University and ourselves, Agony Unleashed, spring to mind although I'm sure there are more.

tbh i think a treasure hunt wud be cool. Deploy some cans in a system and in each can put a bm or something. But yer it could b a cool idea wud need some thinking tho. And in the last can have the 1.5 bil ish but make it so its in the price of modules so the first one to get ther can pick up the mods

I agree, I would like to run a treasure hunt for people. The only problem I see, is that if I use cans, and ie, you have to answer a question to get the password on a can, the first person that gets to the can only has to remove the item that is in the can, to lock all other participants out of the competition.
If there was some way to lock the contents of a can (even if it was just ie a ship log), then it would be perfect. I wonder if one of the devs would be able to design something in-game to this effect, ie a bunch of secure containers for this project that only have query access.
They would only be used for the competition and nothing else. I might have to email a few people to see if any of the devs etc would be able to create something like this that didn't take much time (dont want to disturb them too much), and it would be a community event either way. Anyone know the email addy of Kieron?

mmmm many ideas - a treasure hunt ie find the named shuttle belonging to u and bring back a specific bookmark within that shuttle in one piece (or u could put 5 or 10 around eve) and the first person to find the bookmark and evemail u the codeword within gets the prize
Thats my contribution

Edited by: Kazuo Ishiguro on 24/10/2006 10:20:10 Couldn't you use audit log secure containers, like the ISGC Frigate League does? That way, you can tell whether anything has been tampered with and annul the event if necessary.
It might be better to split the isk into several smaller pots, to reduce the incentive for people to try to cheat. [center]Racer in the http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&t |

Edited by: Presidente Gallente on 24/10/2006 10:34:16 The treasure hunt should work like: - placing named cans in different systems - the cans will give information where to find other cans - the cans use a special naming convention and +code˝ to bring together the full information where to find the next cans - all this gives a location of the final can at the end
There was a nice treasure hunt done by Gina Core. First you had so solve a riddle in her bio to get the password for access to a chat channel. After joining the channel you got a meeting point at EVE time XX:XX. Then all pilots received an EVE-mail with the first riddle leading to the first can.
Gina's can rules: I have placed 10 small secure containers that will lead u to my treasure. Some of that containers gives u a positon and a keyword. Keywords are in [ ] , for exaple [Alpha: 3] so the Alpha keyword is 3. REMEMBER THE KEYWORDS!! Some containers need thes keywords to let u know where u have to go next ( ) shows u that u have to place a keyword, for example (Alpha) just replace (Alpha) with the keyword, in this chase Alpha is 3 here is an exapmle for a conrainer name: Balle (Alpha) - Moon (Alpha) [Beta: Moon] so u know that u have to fly to Balle 3 - Moon 3 and the Beta keyword is Moon the next container can have the name: Balle (Alpha + 1) - (Beta) (Alpha - 2) [Gama: 8] = Balle 4 - Moon 1 Gama keyword 8.
Was really entertaining but it took a lot of time to work that out.
An the reward was just 20 Million *:-)
I think you have to work out a much more advanced treasure hunt through dangerous systems. Probably the hunters have to scan cans by probes, find a special location by screenshots only and and and ...
Wasn't there a 3 Billion event a while ago?

Thanks for that Kazuo. I didn't realise you could anchor audit log containers. (shows how much I have been playing in the last year).
Sounds perfectly fine. For the moment I will allocate 500m to this, and get to organising it all. It may change to 1.5b but this is dependant on whether or not a couple of other event/idea's can be put to good use.
Keep em coming :)

Give it to me, with the money I am going to buy a Frig / Destroyer / Cruiser/ Bc / BS BPO. Of a certain race of your choice. . For example if you chose Gallente I might buy say the Tier 2 Gallente BPO and then I would build the Ships and make copy's sell copy's on ESCROW So I can afford to buy the materials and then make more ships sell copies on escrow so I can buy the materials. A vicious cycle and then I'd go to the Gallente noob systems or where some of the newer players hang out to help them on there Life in EVE and get them started well a BC that cost 30+ mil is a lot to a new player. I wouldn't give them out to just anyone I'd needsome sort of physical proof they were real players that ahd just started and not alts.
That's what I would do with the ISK obviously the left overs I'd invest in more BPO's to do reasearch and make copies on. What do i make from it for a starte Ocassionally I can use the blueprint to make my own ship or make a ship for myself and sell, I also have a warm fuzzy feelign insie that I haave helped someone. Like when I started some guy gave me a destroyer and the fittings 250k cheaper. He had the Blueprint and he was helping us out like that.
I just want to give something back to the community.
Hope you give me the ISK, obviouisly I won't do it on this character but on another one for security reasons. Thanks ___________________________________________ Cookies if you hijack or sign my sig. There tasty... |

You could just use the can name to give clues to the next can - I would also have a random number in the name, the person who provides the sum of all the numbers is the winner; this would prevent people picking up the can trail mid way.

Reasonably fair and simple way: lottery to give those 1.5B to one of the people who lost ISK in the EIB scam.
Process: - Start a thread (in market discussions) with "post here how much you lost in EIB scam, and you're eligble for the lottery if your name and amount matches my books" - After a week of two, draw winner from posters (weighted according how much they lost) in some public tamper-free way
Reasoning: Your alt was part of the scam, albeit unwillingly. So makes sense he tries to reimburse those who got scammed instead of random fellows. It's not really about the amount of ISK, but rather about the principles.
Pro: + Don't have to make public your confidental full EIB account list + Only those players who are still active (and read the forum) will participate + Not that much hassle
Cons: - Nothing fun and interesting; just straight business
I can handle the signup thread and drawing the winner in public way if you'll take care of paying to the winner.

Originally by: Ricdic Hey guys,
Since the EIB scandal and my alt being a teller in the bank I have been left with 1.5 billion isk in the alt's wallet. The simple fact, is that I don't want the money. Those interested in obtaining this 1.5 billion isk, or prizes etc are advised to give some ideas on ways this isk can be given to you.
This may include but not limited too:
* Lottery/s * Knowlege Competition/s * In-game competition/s (duels etc)
Or anything else you can think of. So, if you want a piece (or the whole thing) of the 1.5 billion isk pie, put your thinking caps on, and give me some ideas.
Please limit everything to the forums as I rarely get to play eve any more.
Cheers
I've recently been scammed out of 500mil through stupidity on my part, so any donations right now would be more than welcome from a scammer (your alt in EIB) to a scammed (me :() _________________________________________________________

heres my suggestion... buy a b/s bpo..... stick it in a hauler along with a shuttle fly over to new eden, the weird "first" system jettisotn the shuttle and bpo,, load up the bpo n and start heading to the haze... at a slightly off angle,, ie 10-15% go out shopping etc and return sevaral hours later,, the longer the better,,
when you are satified ot would take some extreme probong to find the shuttle,, eject,
then self destruct your pod to arrive safely back home, then write a short story for inclusion in the cronicles along the lines or ricdics riches... lost treasure in the birth of eve
thus guranteeing the importaliy of your character,, and a happy lil resure hunt, in a semi risky area of space,, good fun for all
just my thoughts anyway

Buy shuttles with everything, and give them all to the first who wants them at the station.
Just say: "Free shuttles at -station X-", then trade them all to whoever accepts. And let the person try and sell 1,5 bill worth of shuttles.

Make it something that no one can miss. That even those who don't read the forums can get involved in.
Here's my suggestion: Screaming MWD frig targets. Get 10 players in frigs to fly around at random all over the eve universe, screaming some random, pre-determined phrase in local. 'ISKIEEEEEEEEEEES!!!!' Make each one of them worth 50 mil for a kill. Make them warp around at random. Hide at planets for a few minutes, orbit random stations, bump into miners. keep people guessing. And keep the locals confused as all hell. Until he goes pop. kill-mails from both players are sent to you, you send the killer the isk.
I think it sounds like a fun game. What do you think?

I think that part of the point is to give cash back to victims of the IPO. For example, he could have a lottery using shares of the EIB as entry tickets.

Why don't you do your research before making yourself look stupid.
I have spent the past 4 months asking people who lost in EIB for input on how they would like those funds allocated. I never really got a response. If you are one of those who lost cash in EIB, then you are partially at fault for not helping to think of a solution.
You were all quick to kick up a stink when Cally disapeared, however then when it became time to knuckle down and find a suitable resolution, almost every EIB customer instead decided to shrink away into a corner, and expect me to make all the decisions. Meanwhile, I do so, and get blasted no matter what I decide.
So i suggest you get your facts straight before calling people names (which is against the forum rules anyway). I couldnt give a damn which corp or alliance you represent, you can go kiss my ass.

First. I never invested in the EIB. Too much other things to spend isk on that was more important.
Second. I would think that the EIB would have had some kind of records of who gave what. At the very least they would still have their shares.
Its not hard to either A. offer a payout to peoples shares, or B. flip a coin to give some people all of their money.
Choice made in two seconds, not four months.
Further it should not be anyones responsibility to Troll these forums trying to find information on the EIB. Just because you percieve people shrinking up into a whole doesnt mean they have.

i saw make sumthing for the carebears. almost every competition to win large isks is lowsec so makes it even more depressign for the empire miners.
maybe do a thing like Break my Tank. u sit in whichever ship u want all fully fitted up with whatever fittigns u think will work and carebears come along at times u deceide to a 0.8 system and usign jetcan flag they have to come along and try break ur ships tank. ur fitted purly for tanking so no weapons but the idea is to sit there for X amount of mins (say 5mins per person) while the other guy just tries to dish out as much damage as possible to break ur tank.
