Over the past few days I have increasingly experienced the Eve Launcher starting up in 'Offline Mode' with no apparent explanation. The times at which it happens appear to be completely random also. Has/is anyone else experienced this?
I can't seem to find any kind of fix other than completely removing the client and reinstalling it, which is a pain in the arse to be honest.
Would be grateful for some suggestions/insight.

Launch the game the old way with exefile in the Eve\Bin folder

Same issue started this morning, restarting the client a few times until it starts correctly worked for me. Then next time i started the client it was back again.. |

Thanks. Same here today. Lots of lost sockets too. Short research revealed intermittent packet loss somewhere in the EU, so nothing on CCP's side. Some isp's forgot to feed the hamsters.
Restarting the launcher does the job.
Remove insurance.

Thought it was just me.
Ran the repair tool which seemed to work but it happened again. Found that the best solution is to just stubbornly keep on launching it until it works.

I've had the same problems.
Launcher reports that TQ offline and I have also been unable to access the eve website.
Starting eve from the bin file works just fine. |

Same here, also experiencing the launcher starting up in offline mode. And when it does come up after retrying, it won't show the number of players currently online.
It also seems to occur with eveonline.com itself, sometimes a page just times out and then comes through when the browser reattempts... |

I have had this issue again today - FTTC broadband (UK) . But using my mobile phone for data, no issue.
The issue is with a up link / down link to CCP's servers.
Someone please take action re: the poor quality uplink to CCP. My ISP has already re-routed the paths in the past, but its sunday.

Website does not always load for me have to refresh at least a few times to get it to load.
Guessing this is because of the same reason.

strangely, it also knocks out the connection to the internet momentarily for my desktop only. laptop is unaffected.
it's basically unplayable for any kind of pvp. i never know when i'm going to get socket punched.
EVE is the only game affected.

Restarted the launcher, came up this time, but said Tranquility status was "Unknown". After waiting a while the status came up.
Since this happened immediately, no delay, I assume attempting to connection to Eve resulting in a RST packet. |

Much the same here as Marcus said. Only thing I'd add is before I'd get the "Socket Closed" error and I could see that the game was frozen/locked up, I would try to quit out of the game and the game window wouldn't close. Neither through F12 and the 'Quit Game' button or even clicking on the red X window close tab (I play in Windowed Mode). I went through all the suggested steps (https://ccpcommunity.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/201827699--The-Socket-was-closed-message) with my ISP, and the problem isn't there. I think it's client-side. |

I believe the Launcher being in "offline mode" means it can't find the server. Probably an ISP or DNS issue somewhere between people and CCP's servers.
Alternatively the servers are literally on fire again and we're going to get some fun dv-posts come Monday >.> |

I just got my launcher to work tried again to launch the repair program and this time it worked and allowed me to get the launcher to work in safe mode where it downloaded the update from this morning and now it is working.
I hope I don't have to deal with the issues like I did last week where the launcher kept crashing and I had to reinstall the launcher multiple times before it started to work. |

So far on 3 seperate loggins...each time i have to slowly convince the launcher that the servers are infact online. (3+ launcher restarts each time) CCP, you've done something on your end me thinks...this can't be only something on my end... |

Ok I found the solution (for me).
Go to internet setings advanced and click on TLS 1.1 and TLS 1.2
The should be activated allready.
This worked for me at least.

CCP - please ask the owners of ams1.vrsn.net to feed there hamsters. I guess someone / some ware knows how many connections come in via this uplink provider, given a few of us cannot connect.
For people who cannot connect - run a tracert, and include it in a ticket to there ISP.
Hats off to Tesco mobile (aka O2) for providing a playable experience via my Windows Phone hotspot.

I have the same problems for a month now, seen reports in issues and workarounds part of forum.
I am in offline mode too now untill I solve my irl logistics due to moving.
I hope this will get solved soon, finally started to do pvp with several public fleets, and I am hooked and it sucks to get socket closed in the middle of nowhere in null while your fleet just pointed poor thanatos few jumps ahead and you hear it all on coms but you cant log back in. Tears.

After I had thrown away my obviously defective computer someone told me I could simply click on the "restart launcher" option on the offline launcher or in Windows start EvE using the exefile in CCP > eve > bin > exefile and then easily create a desktop shortcut to that exefile by right clicking it and choosing send > desktop(create shortcut). Oops. Welp, when I get another computer I'll probably do that.
The thing about this signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything interesting you're almost done reading it anyway.

Apologies for multiple posts here. I logged out of eve due to the seemingly constant resource streaming download so I thought something was wrong. But when I Went to log back in I started to have problems again I got screen shots here of what I see. I tried to get it to launch in safe mode but it did the same thing.

Jesus christ CCP please fix it. It is annoying. We all know you are getting DDOS but to take our money and saying your servers are powered up and technicly connected to the internet is not a good way to do business. You can not simply say we don't give a crap if our paying costumers can not actionally reach our servers.
Take TQ offline or do whatever but do something. This is going on for several days now. Thanks to your amazing launcher (read stupid) it is not even possible to bypass it with the evefile.exe in the bin foulder. Because then your normal settings are not getting loaded .....
So please unfuck your **** or take TQ offline. |

Same. And on top of that it sometimes "freezes" for a few minutes before loading properly and I'm unable to enter my log in info and log in. Of course I don't wait said minutes, but instead launch EVE from my Bin folder.
I've experienced nothing but problems with the launcher since it was introduced... I miss the old log in screens with the expansion theme. At least they worked properly.

Yep - Same here. Had been using the .exe file. However due to my mild OCD decided to run the repair tool. I now have to download the whole client again This might have something to do with the setting 'Delete patches after use' setting being checked in combination with 'Download all the resource files'.
At any rate I would just use the .exe until CCP resolve the issue. |

Same here since Saturday. It usually takes 4-5 times starting the launcher before it functions.
And at the same time the ingame browser gives "connection has been reset, error -101" when trying to access eveonline pages (evelopedia, etc), also since Saturday.

So, has CCP just been silent regarding the constant ddos attacks, login malfunctions, 3rd party malfunctions, network problems (etc) or am I just not seeing the proper thread. Its been happening for a little while now, and people are having all kinds of trouble. Its not just the forums where you hear it either.. pretty much all my channels have people agreeing that something is very much jacked up with EVE servers lately. So what gives? Why the silence? |

When restarting the launcher It will load corrctly about half the time, but when i put in my login info and the launcher would normally say "Launch", its now a greyed out bar that wont respond to clicking at all and the launcher says TQ is offline
So i have been connecting via the exe. file in Bin folder
I log on ok and after jumping systems i begin to glitch, my ship mods wont appear, i freeze up and my ship warps like im in 100% TIDI
I have tried playing in all window modes, low graphic settings, and it always happens the same way. The game glitches out and i have to relog to get things unglitched again. This starts the process all over again
I have played eve without any issues for 3 years and this all started friday
I have run the repair tool 30 times trying to find corrupted files, still to no avail
I am fairly confident that this is a ccp issue and as someone that spends 250 dollars a month i find it very frustrating
**Update So I have uninstalled eve and reinstalling...the eve online downloader is downloading on to my computer at 13kb/s..WTF?? I have 60 MGBS service. THIS IS A FU*ING SH*TSHOW |

If so it totally fails at present as it seems to hinder more than help and certainly does not give a good first impression of EVE.
My guess is that in its current state it will deter new players to try EVE more than encourage.

It's likely the DDOS. The launcher refers to multiple sources just to get itself up and running. Some may or may not be critical, but hit enough of them, its dead easy way to screw up logins. CCP shot their own foot with an anti-KISS and complicated the mitigation. Thank goodness someone there is still sane enough to let the exefile alternate method remain working.
When the launcher fails, TEST these websites in your browser: http://client.eveonline.com/patches/repair_info.txt
http://client.eveonline.com/patches/win_launcherinfoTQ_inc.txt
If those sites fail, then you know why the launcher failed.

Also Thousands of players dont want to use new "feature" want an option to not use it, ccp says no you will use it and love it. Players just use .bin and eve exe and skip new "feature anyway"

When I'm not logging in using powershell scripts I too seem to have the launcher telling me it's not having a good day. Has done for the past couple of days. Multiple relaunches make it eventually come back but saying server status (unknown), but seems to log in fine.

Try exiting Steam and then launching EvE from the shortcut without opening Steam first. Seems to work for me when the launcher has issues. |

No, the shortcut opens Steam to launch the game. Don't open Steam on your own then start EvE. |

ive had problems with the launcher for around a week, ive also had issues with sites loading, and yesterday had a problem with ustream which ive narrowed down to the auto update Flash did last tuesday. Yesterday i rolled back the version i have of flash on my PC, today, the launcher works fine. Coincidence? or not? |

My EVE launcher was set to launch from C:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\EVE\launcher\launcher.exe for a long time. Worked well. Then suddenly it would act like I was trying to go to a web page that didn't exist. I changed it to start from "C:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\EVE\eve.exe" and it's good now, but still, I wonder what the change in the first place was all about? |

- skill train graphic bugs - could'nt use the route finder until I restarted - warp drive active and docking permission voice is around 30 seconds out of sync with in game activity - undocking black screen for 10 seconds

I am still having problems with the launcher.
I have tried the various fixes mentioned here to no avail.
I appear to have the current version of the launcher installed (v 2.2.871481) but each time I start it I get a message telling me I am using a previous version. I am able to play the game by pressing "Y" in response to the question posed.
Now the strange part - I have two PC's pretty much set up exactly the same (except for video cards & monitors) both operating on my home network using the same ISP. This problem only happens on one & not the other |

I don't have launcher issue but, when i start launcher is says 'You are running a pre-release version of eve launcher.... bla bla bla'.. If i choose 'ok' it just maybe the old launcher, but if i click 'cancel', the eve launcher will display "Failed to download update for Eve online launcher", and I cannot log-in.

For people having launcher problems (not the eve is offline one, but others) https://ccpcommunity.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/202664365-Reinstalling-the-Launcher may help.
It's just the launcher being replaced with an up to date version, rather than your entire client, so it's pretty small. And it's dead easy.

EDIT: Well still the same, even after I've done as per above.. That dude above is a player NOT CCP.

I am still getting the same message - "Running a pre-release EVE Launcher".
I am able to continue playing but I'm wondering what's happening to any updates & how long it is until my EvE grinds to a halt.

What's the number at the top of your launcher, in the title bar?
(I'd suggest submitting a bug, or posting in https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=topics&f=272 for a better chance of having something seen by CCP.)

SO I have had a ticket in on this for over 2 days now. When I first submitted the tick, I got a response back in less than 5 minutes! Yay! Except the guy who responded decided he couldn't fix it, and so moved the issue on up the ladder. Since then, silence.
On the other hand, the launcher works this morning. Here's hoping they don't break it again.

I was having the same issue..., submitted a ticket ..GM Akilian suggested the following:
"If the launcher is spotty for you I recommend you open the launcher settings. Click on the download tab. Then tick the download all resource files. Then restart the launcher."
I didnt have to do that ... but others may be helped by it. |

Client login works good, so It is launcher working with client server side that is broken. Problem could be on either side.

I've had the greyed-out launcher on-and-off for a while now, it usually means a faulty connection to one of the servers providing the launcher stuff and I've had a fair few dodgy connections. When a lot of people are having the same issue it means one of the ISPs on the route is failing to make that connection. In theory this is out of CCP's hands, and may not even be visible to them due to going down a different route, but they should be able to identify where the issues are from those traceroutes posted earlier. |

Multiple failed login attempts, game freezes w/ multiple socket closures. LOTS of socket closures.
Rebooted all routers, no change.
After pinging my ISP for 30 minutes and multiple addresses, there is absolutely nothing wrong with my connection. When I ping Eve addresses, there is 35% to 100% packet loss.
WTF is going on and why is nobody from CCP acknowledging this?
This has made the game unplayable for a couple of weeks now. |

With respect to the issues at the weekend, my ISP has responded with the following - the name of the Guilty uplink provider has been removed.

Across the Internet, this does not use RIP, but rather BGP which runs using advertised paths. In this case REMOVED look to have incorrectly advertised that they handled the path to CCP- setting the routing to go through their own network, and this is what stopped it working. It looks like they then changed this a little later, resolving your lack of connection to CCP and the EVE servers. As this happens across the peering network, we do not have direct control to affect this after it has left our own network
So, when you get this issue - ticket your Internet Service Provider if you cannot tracert the servers.
CCP or appropriate related people (aka CSM or ISD) - can you confirm the uplink providers have been spoken to about this? |
