lame?
we're using singularity for the pvp tournament where players should be enjoying a nice, lag free area to put their leet pvp skills to the test. I'd rather not have players turning up in dreads trying to gank people for giggles.
Just remember, your access to singularity is a GIFT, not a right. ___________________________ ~Jiekon

Whish I could say that about Tranquility.
Oh, well... good luck with testing Kali.

Well personally I think it would be cool to allow players on so we could talk to people at the fan-fest so we can know what those of us that need to work and can't go are missing!

although it seems like an anoyance to us, its very logical for them to use the test server for the tourney than to setup a whole new server for an event that will only last a little while.

They could probably do it in Jove space. No player would harass them there. Problem is lag on Tranquility.

Edited by: RobW1 on 11/11/2006 10:35:59 I'm sorry but saying that our access to SiSi is a GIFT upsets me a little.
If we, regular players, didn't have access (not that we've had a VAST amount in the last 3 weeks anyway) then testing for this new release would take HOW MUCH LONGER? Alot for sure. Ask any company that uses "customer" testing to test out it's products... it's a hell of a lot quicker, and a hell of a lot more useful than just in-house testing.
So it's fine that the PvP tournament uses SiS, but it would have been nice to have been told, or for it to be put on the MOTD. It's another example of lack of communication from CCP, IMHO.

I`m sorry you feel upset about my comments, but it is true. Singularity is CCP's test server. They control who accesses it and who doesn't. If they decide that they are going Many people think it is their god given right to access the test server, but this isn't the case.
I agreee that without player help, Kali testing would be a more complicated matter and we ARE gratefull for the valuable input gained by our players.
As for the lack of communication, LeMonde did make a post here regarding the matter. ___________________________ ~Jiekon

I think the problem is more the condicending way you're "informing" people of why they can't log on. The way you come across it feels like we should thank CCP on our bare knees to help you test stuff. Well I won't thank you and I think we deserve a little more respect form the people we are paying to make this game. _________________________________________________________

Could CCP perhaps put something in the KALI forum with regards to when the test server will be back available to us?
I don't look in the Events forum, so I had no chance of spotting LeMonde's post (plus we've been told to keep Kali discussion in the KALI sub-forum, and to me that implies stuff relating to SiSi too).
Maybe CCP should take SiSi away from us completely, that way many of us won't be torn between two worlds..
In one world we just say "Screw it, SiSi isn't reliably available to us, so why bother trying to help test".
In the other world we think that if we help test even just a little bit, that we might be able to help CCP out, and make Kali GREAT.

What a bunch of ****-head players, trying to help test a game for free that they're paying for. You deserve so much better. First time I've heard god brought into it though. Let me try it...God I hope you're never on the other side of a resume if I'm hiring customer service.

QTF, CS keeps threating the whole community as pimple faced kids who say "0M6, H4X!" every second word they use.
There are teachers, doctors, police officers, managers and CEOs amongst us, you better change that attitude of yours towards your customers or you're sorely going to regret it in the future.

Umm... not sure why people are upset? Jiekon is right. The test server isnt included in the subscription. You cant make any demands for it to be up, or accounts to be activated etc. If you dont want to help ccp test stuff, there are plenty of other people who will... im not sure what the problem is here?
If its about the "god given right"-comment, was it really that bad? People are very sensitive here....

Jiekon isn't being condescending, he's just telling you how it is.
If you can't handle the fact that SiSi is not included in your subscription, that's your problem, not a fault in Jiekon's matter-of-fact attitude here.
SiSi is apparently up enough for hundreds or thousands of bug reports to be filed. Maybe you just aren't as important as you think you are.

I don't think anyone here has said that it *is* included in our subscription. That being said it would be too hard for some actual information about SiSi unavailability to posted in the Kali forum would it?
The problem here is lack of information. There are others, but that's the main one that gets in my mind.

Again, no one has mentioned subscription.
You don't know how many bug reports have been filed, as you're not CCP. Granted there have been many pages in the thread at the top of this sub-forum, and granted there are probably more. There could also potentially be a lot more if people received communication around SiSi, by that I mean :
* Availability (or lack of it) * Focus area * believed-to-be-fixed areas (there have been two or three patches since the initial build of Kali on the server, but nowhere has there been information on what has been fixed, if we knew that we could retest if required, or ignore areas if they are being focused on).
I agree Jiekon wasn't been condescending, but I can also see how many people may take his comments "the wrong way".

It goes up and down several times per day. The client tells you if its up or down. Thats all the info you should need, no?

No
How about some information on the MOTD about it's use for Fanfest?
How about some sort of thread indicating what is fixed, or believed-to-be-fixed issues?
How about some sort of thread indicating focus areas?

Well yeah, but this thread was about the server being up or down, wasnt it...?
I agree it would be great with more info on what needs testing. Been saying that since I tried the test server for the first time. But that wasnt what Jiekon was commenting on...
Oh well. Go watch EveTV btw, they are broadcasting from the fan fest in 6 minutes. Check General Discussion sticky.

A news entry like "SiSi will be taken off public for Fanfest PVP Tournament" would be nicer than just informing us that way. The people that need to work or don't plan to go on that Fanfest at all wouldn't go and check out the Fanfest Forum in all details... But still they would like to see WHY their beloved SiSi won't accept their connection...

I could care less if i can acces sisi or not. Fact is that I don;t like the way some CCP people treat the player base.
If my boss would hear me talk to our clients like CCP does. "our service is a gift not a right, if you don't like it just leave" then I'm sure I'd be looking for a new job the next day. _________________________________________________________
