I can't possibly put into words how disappointed I am. I was praying to the concept art gods that some how, some way, the design would be changed to the point that it didn't look like a friggin ass pirate's sex toy. But alas, it looks exactly like the concept art, ring and all.
The Hype is hands down the single worst looking ship of all 8 new craft. Guns on its ASS?!?! Why? WHY? Why does it have a pancake in the middle with little dinner plates for engines? The nose looks cool, except for the little side thrusters or w/e those are. The rest of it looks ridiculous. No sense of proportion, no balance.
It looks ungainly and cumbersom. Imagine how that big stick is going to look when it bounces off it's target at 1km/sec and flips end over end as it tries to enter warp. The four engines make for a nice little symmetric elliptical ring right in the middle. Very stale/stagnant looking design. Pure symmetry like that makes it look dead. The ship looks more like a freighter than a battleship. The whole concept just turns my stomach.
Not saying I don't like symmetry either. I like the bilateral symmetry of the other designs. They're great. The Abaddon is probably one of the best looking ships in all of Eve. Hurrcain is increadable, the Rokh is sexy. The Myrmidon looks sleek and purposeful. Hell, I can even get used to the sailboat that is the Maelstrom. But the Hyperion is just garbage.

There is plenty to my liking. THE ENTIRE LOWER HALF OF MY POST IS PRAISING THE OTHER SHIP DESIGNS. And they're all done by the same guy. 1 crap design out of 8 is about an 87% success rate. Not too shabby.
I like ****ed near everything about Kali: the invention, the new scanning, the WCS nerf, rigs are awesome (well, some are better than others, w/e), contracts rock, love almost every one of the new ships. The Hyperion is the only one I don't like, both balance wise and art wise, and blaster ships are the only ships I *want* to fly, specifically blaster battleships.
Complaining about stuff that is broken: HP increase, ECM too effective etc. is how things get fixed. It's only 'whining' when you're asking for something that is unreasonable and unnessicary. The points I make are neither.

Looking at the concet art, i wasn[t quite as impressed either, especially compared to the hurricane which is utter sweetness
but I dunno, after looking at the short vid i believe posted in the ships and mods section, it looks pretty freakin badass, a nice combo of symetrical and yet still unique like most of the ships in the eve universe.
plus the video showed that it had a corporate logo on it *gasp* sweet!

IIRC the killmail says hammerhead IIs killed him, you need 256k sp just for those, so unless your vexor was a velator you had a bit mroe than that. but thats not important.

A good start would be not expressing your extreme displeasure with everything at the same time in multiple threads across multiple boards.
But each particular facet of the game that is broken etc. needs it's own thread so that everyone can be more precisely focused on the problem at hand. You don't see me putting pirating issues in the ships forum do you? Frankly I stay out of the General forum as much as possible.

Other than the pancake/dinner plates, I rather like the ship. When I think of ships that size, I can't get past the thought of really big engines providing huge amounts of power, or banks of smaller ones like on the rear of the Mega.
The thrust coming out at a right angle to the supposed placement of the engines is also another problem I have. Again, the styling of the ship I'm a big fan of, just want to make that perfectly clear. But the thing in the middle just makes me think its much smaller than it is. The engines even look delicate, they just do not give me the impression of massive power, an impression I think a battleship should give. It looks more like a science/research vessel rather than something designed to break faces.

Any blockade runner pilot trying to run a camped gate at 15km is going to get pwnd well before they get even close to the gate to jump..
Hinders PVP by making it easier for *any* target to escape combat.
If Warp to 0km to any object but gates makes it in I'll gladly join you in flaming CCP all the way to Wow.. But stop and think.. No stickys no dev responces only the removal of using BM's to let more players on SISI by reducing the load and adding the warp to 0km to all objects to let players easily get place to place for testing purposes and getting some feedback for the inhouse debate.... So I'm going to assume that *if* any sort of warp to 0km is used it will only be GTG.. Which changes nothing about the game only lets them reduce lag and database load..
Allows pirates to roam around high-sec with impunity. You're never going to catch a shuttle/pod with warp to 0.
And your catching them with any high percentage now? Maybe one that went afk but if they are actualy at the KB they are as good as gone..

You're taking it out of context. Imagine if there were no more gate to gate instas. Then fast haulers would be more important, pirates wouldn't be able to insta around empire like they do now, targets *wouldn't* be able to escape so easily by jumping to a gate and leaving, traders and freighter pilots would actually make MORE money because of the increase in time involved, they'd be able to be more efficient than the other guys by moving more stuff per unit of time. Making Eve feel smaller is just bad all the way around. Reduces the epic feeling that it's an actual galaxy.

This thread has no point to it. CCP arent gonna change a ship design cos one guy, or even a whole thread, says it looks sucky.
Anyway, plenty of ships look sucky but it shouldn't stop you flying them.
If you admit beauty is a matter of personal taste then you obviously realise it's impossible to please everyone. One person's swan is another person's ugly duck. So just fly what u want to - and be happy with that.
The time and place to discuss ship designs was when the concept art first came out. It's too late now.

Just go fly all the blaster ships on test in duels. I really can't be bothered explaining it all to you. Suffice to say that you'll lose. The whole concept of blaster ships and how they work have been rendered obsolete by the changes in Kali.

lol? I've killed every blaster ship I've fought on test. You go hop in a Brutix and I'll fight you in a Myrmidon, we'll see who wins. Go get in a Rax and I'll get in a vexor or something and we'll see who drops first. Or a Rokh and a Hyperion or Mega etc.
I've been on test ever since it was available, testing all the new stuff. I've SEEN rooks with an ECM strength of 18+. It's ridiculous. I've damped targets down to under 4800m lock range from 72km lock range. Without using a Celestis to do it! (or an arazu/lachesis for that matter). I've seen passive shield tanks with something like 250hp/sec regen. It's just silly.
Blaster ships are on the losing end in Kali, and so are laser ships. You can't do enough DPS fast enough to kill a target before you're out of cap, and then you die. Simple.
Because I said so...

Well one can certainly not argue about beauty when we all precieve it in different ways.
Anyway, that Hyperion reminds me of the flagships from "Imperium Galactica I". I really liked those designs... and I quite like the hyperion design.
When it comes to the real thing that matter though, which is combat efficiency and balance, its very unimpressive, outdmged by a mega?! WTF CCP? I thought this thing was supposed to be the ultimate blasterboat!

Last time I checked, ECM modules didn't do any damage. So you must be pretty horrible if you lost to a random ECM module floating in space.

The Hype is hands down the single worst looking ship of all 8 new craft. Guns on its ASS?!?! Why? WHY? Why does it have a pancake in the middle with little dinner plates for engines? The nose looks cool, except for the little side thrusters or w/e those are. The rest of it looks ridiculous. No sense of proportion, no balance.
It looks ungainly and cumbersom. Imagine how that big stick is going to look when it bounces off it's target at 1km/sec and flips end over end as it tries to enter warp. The four engines make for a nice little symmetric elliptical ring right in the middle. Very stale/stagnant looking design. Pure symmetry like that makes it look dead. The ship looks more like a freighter than a battleship. The whole concept just turns my stomach.
Not saying I don't like symmetry either. I like the bilateral symmetry of the other designs. They're great. The Abaddon is probably one of the best looking ships in all of Eve. Hurrcain is increadable, the Rokh is sexy. The Myrmidon looks sleek and purposeful. Hell, I can even get used to the sailboat that is the Maelstrom. But the Hyperion is just garbage.
I bet everyone and their neighbour is absolutely BORED with your senseless whining. Being a social misfit kid is one thing, advertising it on the internet is another .
The hyperion looks awesome, its a different style of a model. Plus from what I heard from people who attended the fanfest it fights pretty frackin good.

The design is good, it's supposed to be a fast ship, therefore the large engines. And about the shape, in space there is no friction, or actually there is, but it's so tiny that it counts as 0. |

And no one cares what you think either. So I guess that makes you even. Personally I don't like the look of the ship but my real concern is how sucky it is compared to the other Tier 3 ships. Someone needs to move Tuxford to a different department. He's already proven he can't balance ships or modules correctly.

Wrong. Space is filled with gravity wells but eve doesn't use that type of dynamic engine. Would probably cause to many problems.

All of which he's entitled to. Remember that next time you have a concern and would like to start a post about it. Also where are all the forum mods? I noticed they do nothing in threads that complain about CCP. Post a flame in a pro ccp post and you'll get a nice warning email and you flame will be snipped.

which is logical if you consider the fact that the ship is supposed to be a blaster boat, you would like to have guns on the front (OMG CHAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGEEEEEEEEE) and in the rear (STRATEGICAL RETREAT OMG!).
also, I think that the positioning of the turrets allow for something of between 80 to 100% coverage.

Pics and video. I was at that presentation during the fanfest. Taking pictures and notes even, so you could argue I was paying more attention than alot of people present.

Haven't read the whole post because most probably 90% of it is flames. However, I agree that the Hyperion is freaking ugly. The holawoops in the middle, the whole thing. I choosed gallente months ago because gallente ships were good looking (most of them). I don't fly ships that look ugly. Even if the Hyperion ends up with a %5000 bonus to hybrids... no way i'm flying that ugly thing.
I will cross-training races to fly the minmatar tier 3 bs. That one looks nice, very very nice. The amar one also looks nice. But Hyperion will go (along with the flying face called brutix) to the "won't fly it cause is too ugly" list.
On the other side, it's posible that many people like it... hey, caldary cruisers sell right? so people do like ugly things... :S

Wow. I totally dig the look. Liked it as a concept, like what I see in the final model. Hopefully I can find a way to make it work efficiently enough to field it on a regular basis.
