I've been playing for about 2 months now and I still can't find a decent way to make ISK. I don't even want to go near below 0.5 sec until I have a way to quickly replace any destroyed ships resulting from pirates, gate-campers, etc. So, here is what I have tried so far. Please give some advice!
Mining-- I managed to get an Osprey with 3 Miner II's. I calculated my profit and it's about 1 million ISK per hour mining Scordite.
Hauling-- Once in awhile there would be a worth-while trade route and I could make 400-700k per trip, which usually takes me 20 minutes in a Badger.
That's it. I don't know what else to try. :(

Mission running is a good idea, plus it helps raise your standings.
Good corp standings will reduce refining tax and broker fees.
As for trading, you need to do your homework - I'm lucky and found a route which nets me 13 mil off a 9 mil investment for about 5 minutes work.

Combat missions? Train Connections to 3 will get you lvl2 missions, which will pay in both iskies and in standings if you decide to go back to mining. Trade missions? Same as above, don't know if they're worth your time, but will advance you towards storyline missions, which are very lucrative. You could pirate yourself. Sell your gear and buy a shuttle, blast past the gatecamp and kit out a frig. Get some guns and a scram and you could get lucky with a fat Zydrine hauler. Rat-Tech1 frig, get nice and cozy with a few NPC Battlecruisers, net yourself some cash. Basically, it all depends on your risk/reward ratio. How much are you willing to risk to get away from the monotony of mining?

go join ASCN free shpis and lots of iskies - or BOB they prolly dont take noobs um any 0.0 alliacne ISS for starters - something that u might help with PVP but plenty of co op NPCing as well as provided ships for reasonable prices that sort of outfit is good - sa for not going below 0.5 thats where the funds are so if u want iskies then 0.0 is the place

If you are a decent miner and with an Osprey and miner II's like that you can mine omber in 0.5 Sec area and make quite a decent profit (0.5 is safe no one can kill you and rats should be ok). If you train up your shield and cap skills you should be able to tank rats in 0.5 quite comfortably.
I have done this before and makes a reasonable amount of money.

2 months? How did you get a "Not !" in 2 months..did you buy an old account?
There is no way to 'get rich quick' in EVE. As far as replacing ships lost in PvP
1.) Don't PvP OR 2.) Only fly what you can afford to lose (and replace)
Missons will make you a small bit. You can make snotloads doing Lvl 4 missions
If you want to make any kind of money mining, you need a covetor or hulk with strip miners on it and a hauler setup (not a mine to a can, then spend hours hauling it in). I can make about 4 mill an hour on Scrod and about 7 mill on Omber using a 'dump-truck' hauling scheme.
You can also short run the market..look for deal idoits have put up, buy and resell at a better profit.
You can go rat 0.5 and reprocess the loot, we do that then us the mins to make things like tractor beams that sell for 1 Mill+ and all it cost us was some time and ammo
Eve has so many ways to make ISK, I find it hard to believe everyone isn't rich.

Join a 0.0 alliance, rat in a BS. Believe it or not, but deep 0.0 is actually safer than empire 75% of the time. I don't even make as much as most of my friends do ratting, never had a faction BS spawn, and I still pull in at least 30million ever 2 hours or so, goto an empty system that is RARELY visited so gate activations don't mess up the belts and then just start sweeping through killing the big boys and living the midgets, do it over and over, soon you have 9 belts with double or triple BS spawns.
Easy money.

0.0 is kinda the land of milk and honey...ish. Once you learn the lay of the land it's quite easy raking it in ratting, on that note though, you must be wary of local and expect losses.
When Kali/revelations arrives there will be a bucketload of isk to be made, granted you keep an open mind. With the new areas opening up there will be easy money to be made killing drones for their juice, plus datacores in complexes which loadsa peeps will be after for their T2/invention stuff.

Edited by: Zeknichov on 15/11/2006 01:39:39 Don't waist your time in empire. Join a 0.0 corp. Train for a dominix (by far the easiest BS to rat in with the least amount of skills.) Train your drone skills up. Find a way to get 80M. I would just ask someone to borrow from. Buy a dominix and start ratting. If you can't borrow 80M from anyone then use your osprey to go on mining ops with your new 0.0 corp. Just show a lot of enthusiasm about helping them mine. You know offer to help and only ask for very little isk they will be more than happy to give you lots of isk. Just stay out of empire, it's a waist of time if you want to make isk/have fun.

The best you can do to earn isk in empire is doing missions. Boring as hell from my pov but whatever.
To get a decent isk/hour rate you need to either do lvl4 missions (which are mostly in low sec as far as i know) or move out to 0.0 for hunting/mining.

Jump in a rifter, fit it with t1 guns, t1 burner etc. Go to ISS down in Providence and kill Sanshas. Its relatively safe, gives you a decent ground to learn surviving in 0.0 and nets a tidy profit. Watch out for the frigs, orbit everything else about 1k and pick on the BS under 700k if solo. Oh yeah fire nothing but EM for the rats.
If ya do lose your ship after playing for an hour or two you should have made enough to replace it in Consido 10 times over.
Or mine in empire as was already mentioned

Lvl 3 missions pay decently. Running them casually with good loot nets me +50 million a week. Sometimes more, sometimes less. Lvl 4's are vastly more profitable, also vastly more dangerous though. Can solo with an Apoc and good skills, but a weird missle bug has cost me several apocs so abandoned them.
It's great being Amarr, ain't it?

Why on earth are you mining Scordite? Mine either Kernite or Omber in high sec - dont even bother with Scord. When mining try to max out astrogeology, mining and refining skills - gets you more ore to sell. And dont go selling at the first station you see - find one that has decent sell %.

Edited by: Mush Room on 15/11/2006 10:27:54 Hi, some advice from a fellow noob here!
I've been playing for about 3 months and I'm wallowing in ISK. I'd estimate I have about(or a bit over) 500m ISK in assets and wallet. How? I utilize every opportunity that appears to make ISK. Well..that and I play EvE *a lot*. ;)
I suggest you start doing missions(best profit in empire) then learn how to PvP and move out in 0.0 where all the real money is(unless you farm lvl 4 missions with gist equip that is). Before you know it you'll be making big bucks. 0.0 Ratting can net you about 5-10m/ISK per hour and that's only counting the bounties. Good luck mate!
edit: Obviously you want to join a 0.0 corp not move out there alone. ;)

You also could grab a cruiser with blasters, and find a nice 0.5 system to gank some haulers , you wouldnt believe what nice loot they drop. |
