I see that the caldari tier 3 BS is a gunboat
Which idiot decided that? I would have agreed if the Amarr Tier 3 was a missile boat but this is plain stupid!
Is there something here that I dont see or what? Somebody please explain this.

Caldaris don't use only missiles. Hello?
The Rokh is the continuation of the railgun tradition of certain Caldari ships:
Merlin -> Moa -> Ferox -> ... this last blank needed to be filled, and the Rokh does just that.
Caldaris are both a long range turret and a missile race.

Olden, let me put it to you into perspective...
Caldari didn't have a "fleet ship" yet. They needed one. They got it.
"Fleet Ship" is a ship capable of instant, long-range damage (rails in this case) and that has (preferably) either a range bonus or a resist bonus.
Now they have THE BEST fleet ship in the game, with BOTH an optimal range bonus to the longest-optimal-range weapons in the game, AND a resists bonus to the prefered "tanking" method, shields.
So... next person whining about the Ro' gets ho'slapped.

Caldari already have a missile boat.. it's called a RAVEN... it will NOT have another ship of the same role.. and you will not be able to change that.. the only way that BS will become a missile boat is that the raven is removed of it's missile slots ^^

They still have 4 launchers though. Maelstrom have 3.

Umm....
Every single tier 3, tech I caldari ship except the kestrel is a railboat.
Merlin, Moa, and now the Rokh. In addition to the Ferox.
If the Rokh would have been a missile boat, THAT would have been idiotic, as it would just obsolete the Raven. As it stands, Caldari have by far the best selection of battleships, one for every role of they're race; a EW boat, a missile boat, and a rail boat.

Seing how clueless or flamebaiting some caldari can be, I admit I can understand people getting heated in the caldari discussions...
I for one think Gallente is overpowered and I would actually have prefered playing gallente... Now I'm caldari and not too bad at it - I guess the grass is always more green on the other side.
I like the Rokh and people can put 4 nice launchers on it if that helps - thats just as many as the scorp can

Ships like the Merlin with only half of their weapon slots receiving a bonus really do need a fix.

Hmmm.....I see your point but it doesnt mean I have to like it :)
As I look at it and its attribut I like it but with my gunnery skills it feels a bit useless.
I'm sorry for complaining about something old, but havent have time to read the forum much lately. I tried to see if there where any other posts about this but couldnt find any.
But ok. I can train gunnery. The ship seem realy cool so why not :)
But wouldnt the amar tier 2 and 3 be mostly the same?

It really doesn't matter what long range guns or missiles you put on your Battleship. Me and my buddies in frigates and cruisers will take you down in about 30 seconds. 8-) Nothing is better then watching 10 frigates and cruisers kill a T2 fitted Battleship...aaaahhhh.

No race uses one technology and nothing else. If you've trained no hybrid skills and expect to fly a decent range of Caldari ships then, frankly, you're at fault. Gunnery 5 is only 4-5 days ;) |

You don't have to train for the Rokh. The Rokh fills a role and you're free to train for it or not. If you're a mission runner/NPC hunter or whatever, stick to your missiles and the Raven, don't even bother with the Rokh. If you're ever planning on getting into fleet battles, then the Rokh and related gunnery skills will serve you well.

I'm no Amarr specialist, but yes, I feel that you're right, the Apocalypse and the Abaddon are very similar ships, just with slightly different bonuses.
That's just the thing with the Amarrian race in my opinion, though: boring, laser-toting ships is all they have besides a handful of exceptions that do different things (e.g. Inquisitor (lol), Arbitrator (good stuff), etc).

The more I think about it the more I like the Rokh. I got a little upset at start but your arguments are beginning to make logic. I see that a Caldari Turret ship would be useful. I know I dont have to train turrets but well.....I like the ship more and more.
But I still feel that amarr Tier 3 was a bit boring ;) They didnt actually get anything they needed the way I see it.
Seems like my whining has changed to curiosity instead

Now, this gap is filled. Obvious choice, obvious need.

Why would you want another missile ship?
Every other race got screwed by Tier 3, not Caldari, they kept their missile ship that has a dozen of good setups and gained a ship that does something completly different with the same skills instead of getting another ship that uses missiles and therefore can only be different from the other by reducing your choice in sensible setups on both ships.
