As a paying customer I am just voicing my opinion that the feature of "ship wrecks" you have added has ruined the game for me. Before with can's they were only dropped if there was something inside. It could have been garbage but it was at least "worth" checking out.
With this new loot model you are using I am spending 3 to 4 times as long to check these wrecks than the cans previously. This is completely tedious and "unfun".
As of today I have canceled both of my accounts. I am sure my brother will follow suite and cancel his two accounts. I will no longer recommend this game to anyone because it is no longer enjoyable.
Good day.

You're cancelling your accounts the first day after a patch, even before they release a hotfix?

Don't understan the fuss over the wrecks. Seriously, if inthe the long run you have complete feilds of wrecks (that hopefulydo fade away after awhile if anything) then the whole new salvage thing should take care of the "problem" in the long run.
I myself think the wrecks are great; nothing like staring at your egg-shaped pod floating in the middle of a mass-twisted wreck that used to be your ship ;)

welcome to EVE, where you whine for having it, and you whine for not having it.

...but tbh I don't understand the fuss about it since now scavengers can be truely scavengers? Ok ya true, the system might need some fine tuning, but it is a welcome change. -------

Edited by: Grey Area on 29/11/2006 19:25:28 Those who don't see the fuss, don't run missions.
EVERY rat on a mission now spawns a wreck. SOME of those wrecks contain NOTHING...but the only way to see that is to collect it as normal.
What we are asking for is a "No loot, no wreck" policy...not everyone wants to salvage, it's VERY time consuming and the rewards are questionable...but it SHOULD stay in for those that want to...but currently it is DOUBLING the time it takes to collect loot from missions, even if you choose NOT to salvage.
EDIT: that said, it's NOT worth quitting over. ---
I don't mind you disagreeing with me. Just don't say I don't have the SKILLS to comment until you've looked at them. |

Edited by: Gorstag on 29/11/2006 19:26:04 Actually, I was quite content with the method of loot distribution. The wrecks sounded interesting and of course they had put a major "positive spin" on this feature.
In practice however I was instantly annoyed at how tedious these new "wrecks" turned out to be. They have added enough tedium to an already slow tedious game to litterally "break the camels back".
Obviously I expect all of the fanboy's to do their normal trolling. I made this topic in the hopes somone on the development team will read and understand that real paying customers are unhappy with this feature and it will hurt their bottom line.
Anyway, So much for my final post.

In software development we have this thing called usability. When its wanted by some and unusable for the rest it needs to be approached and fixed.
Its not a black and white subject - just like anything else its software so it can and should be changed. Dissing people for hating an absolutely horrid loot system instead of actually realizing that if it doesn't operate in a 'fun' manner is just being ignorant. (its a game you PAY to play so it should be FUN for people - if lots of customers are complaining it needs a change, thats not rocket science - its common sense).
Otherwise you take the Microsoft approach of "YOU ASKED FOR IT T3H N00B SO YOU GOT IT DERRR!" and meanwhile your customer base drops and people quit because they don't want the additional frustration of something they most likely do for enjoyment.
I'm not saying I'm going to quit but I'm not playing until its fixed or changed. If it isn't changed soon I'm not going to waste my time playing. There are tons of other great games to be played that don't cause you do go in endless loops doing the most simple and basic of tasks.

There's a couple of obvious problems with the new wrecks.
* Not highlighting with color or icon * No way to tell if it's empty from a distance. * No way to rename or otherwise mark a wrecks you visited before.
But for the last one there's a fix:
Wrecks take very little damage to destroy (thx to someone I don't remember on the Minmatar channel). This will let you clean things up while you're training salvage up.

Edited by: Sandreon on 29/11/2006 19:52:25 Edited by: Sandreon on 29/11/2006 19:51:33 I agree with the OP in that wrecks are annoying and time-consuming, but they're definitely not game-breaking.
As to the differences between cans and wrecks, aren't they obvious?: 1. Wrecks don't disappear when looted 2. Wrecks can't be renamed Thus: 3. Looted wrecks can't be distinguished from others 4. That results in either having to destroy (very time consuming and unnecessary really) or salvage them.
So instead of "loot - move to next" we have "loot - lock - destroy - move to next". These extra seconds really add up and I'm already having trouble collecting loot after missions. Luckily these problems are being looked at and will be fixed in the next update.

Hire someone to clean your wrecks up for you. Wrecks aren't there to give a free bonus to mission runners. They're there to give people something else to do. So, find someone else to do that part. Work out a deal: They'll drop the loot into a can for you, and they get to keep the salvage; or, they'll drop the loot and salvage into a can for you, and you'll drop iskies into their wallet.
Or go home. The rest of us still have the ball, and we're willing to run with it.

I run missions... It does kinda suck but if you had salvage you can actually get something out of those wreaks... so they are basically encouraging a skill train and still giving you a benefit for checking ALL the cans. Nothing wrong with that... adapt. Sure it is a pain to fly around in a VERY systematic way and check them out for nothing... so once again EvE introduces the "opportunity cost" idea. Forget looting and do the mission for the mission or spend time collecting what you can and/or salvage. Maybe equip a cargo scanner... but once again.. opportunity is forcing you to pick one thing over another.
I'm not the biggest fan of them since I do not plan to salvage either... but oh well, it's interesting to deal with changes whether they benefit you or not. IMHO. A wreak is a wreak is a wreak.
Leave them be CCP... but maybe allow for a marker system. It's hard to tell which cans I have visited when the wreak remains and I've killed all the NPCs/Players in a cluster. That is my only complaint
