especially the active/passive modes. its a PITA when ur drones auto target a trigger frig/ship (ship that triggers another spawn) in a mission and there is no way around it. in passive mode they should just orbit u, until u tell them to engage target, they will go directly to the target until it is dead then return and orbit or follow the next command.
as it stands now drones are useless in most of the missions, the new changes to missions make it even worse. For pvp the drones choosing there own targets is also unneeded.
The autoattack for drones needs to have an option to be turned off. This is the biggest problem i have with drones. And it should be a simple fix.

As for the drone bars IF, it could be done this way, that you see you drones barslike those of the locked targets. For example, the target's indicators are in the first upper row, the drone's indicators are somewhat lower and smaller.

nearly all ships in Eve have a drone bay so an improvement to the drone interface would make them a more usable tool for everyone. maybe ccp are reluctant to improve the usability of drones because if they do and drones become widely used this could increase lag. last year ccp nerfed the size of drone bays because they wanted to decrease the number used in combat to reduce server load. I'm not making excuses for them but just offering a possible reason.
I use drones a fair amount but find the interface far too slow and fiddily. On countless occasions I've forgotten to scoop my drones and warped away leaving 5 t2 drones floating in space so along with these buttons could the scoop button flash if you've still got drones in space when you initiate warp.

but a previous poster had a good point, for ships that can carry multiple gangs of drones there would have to be an option to launch a certain group.
that could be fixed by right clicking the launch button to indicate what group is the default drone group.

Failing that, if they would just change the drone HP view from 3 bars on top to something more like the fleet view (3 bars side by side), and remove grouping from the drones in space display it would make it so much easier to use. (It takes up too much screen real estate as is)

Hmm a hole revamp on the drone UI and no drone interface?
If only they had a reason for it. I wish someone at CCP headquarters would come out and say it. They won't ever fix the drone issues, and they like to see us suffer.

This is exactly what we need. I just recently got my carrier, but even before, I thought about how awesome it would be if I could get the fighters assigned to me to orbit a gate or a friendly without them shooting. Also, when experiencing lag, it can be difficult to tell the drones to attack using the drop down menu. The only other suggestion that I have is make it so the fighters health shows for the carrier pilot even when assigned. With Revelations 2, I think fighters will start being assigned less so it won't be as much of an issue, but it would still help. - Someone save me from this Sanity. |

I would also add though that directly above or near those buttons we should also get a compact Shield/Armor/Hull read out for all currently active drones (shrinking overview to see drone stats is ridiculous).

Looks pretty good to me. You could still have the folders on the right to sort out which drones are your "active" drones - i.e. which drones your command buttons apply to. But you wouldn't need to have the thing open all the time, fiddling with folders and right-clicking and screaming silently inside your head.
I agree with the keyboard ties. In this vein, I'd really like to have some keyboard key that I could press to target my currently-selected object. Wouldn't it be nice.
