I just did something quite fun...
Pulled the kills from <insert random alliance> and parsed the killmail. For each kill, I then did a lookup on www.eve-central.com, to get an accurate indication of ISK damage inflicted.

Edited by: Robert Dobbs on 15/12/2006 13:26:46 Hmm, this seems like a bit of a backwards way of doing it -
two hundred killboards each feeding from each other is going to cause excess server load.
There should be a universal resource which feeds from each KB, compiles the kills, and then feeds back.
Excellent initiative though.

If you're working on a new version at some point, it would be great if you could choose a range of weeks (or even individual weeks) to download mails for. Right now it's either 'last week' or 'all weeks' and the 'all weeks' option doesn't work with many web hosts - because the web-server may kill the request because of a time-out after a minute or two.

To be honest, this thread is screaming something we all do not want to say, but there should be an Eve Killmail database, a legit foolproof system that legitimizes every claim. Have a delayed listing of 24 hours and I think everyone will be happy.
Bounty listings should also be included and carried forever over the career of the pod pilot. Who killed them and what the bounty was is a good starter.
I use to be against this killboard but if there is going to be one anyway, why not make it better than a system such as this.
I like your idea nonetheless, I just hope CCP does it if it's going to get done anyway.

Y2K7 bug...your addon doesn't seem to support years and 2006 appears to be gone when trying to fetch from things that use your addon (I think they do..) like eve-kill.net

EDIT : a nice addition, the possibility to NOT add comment like 'you don't post you'r kill !!!' 15 min after the date of the kill, in case of the feed is used just after a kill ... ____________________________________________ For all you'r Map & Data madness : http://eve.galop-spatial.com |

Just out of interest, Griefwatch has had board specific RSS feeds since day 1.
You take what is offered. And that must sometimes be enough. |

yep, well gw has an rss feed to use for like your google start page or similar. it just gives you a broad overview over what happened. in the case of the feed syndication mod i just 'raped' rss to transfer the raw kill mail data from board to board ;)
if gw would include something like this too (being able to output the whole raw killmail data via rss) this would be huge as we then could syndicate even more boards together

I think defaulting to none fetching and a fetch all checkbox would be beneficial..my server has a timeout at around 45 seconds so fetching all kills it.

Is it possible to automaticly sync 2 killboards? If not can it be built in?
(As in server 1 contacts server 2 every hour and checks for new killmails)
Reson for this is we joined an alliance recently and we'd like to keep both killboards up to date without posting twice.
Thanks

thats what this tool was made for
to automatically fetch kills/losses every two hours you would need to setup a cronjob on your server tho.
@DrAtomic: thx for posting the feed-list of post #2 (the one im keeping uptodate) here, AGAIN..
great job. next time dont forget the quote tags.
PS: i will remove TauCetiFederation from the feed-list as i encountered several (20+) killmails being player-modified or faked while fetching them for the [D2] board. this is simply unacceptable, be accidental or w/ intention. a tcf admin can contact me for kill-id's and details ofc..

Just a thought, but can this tool generate statistics about those corps / alliances that don't post losses? From the sounds of it it does, and that could be centralised on a name and shame site
