Make Eve Online a free to play game:
if you are "unsubscribed" - you can use only one account per IP adress / MAC adress - training of skills is paused - in case of higher numbers of players trying to log in to servers, "unsubscribed" accounts get kicked - make unsubscribed players unable to enter systems with more then 200 people in them (trade hubs, fleet fights...)
if you are subscribed - business as per usual

Treating Unsubbed players like second class citizens is not the way to go. If free to play is the only way Eve survives the next ten years then so be it. But unsubbed players should not be **** on and left out in the rain. That's not how you treat your content generators.
Everyone gets "15" attributes worth of train time one one char at all times. A sub gets you double that. Additional train queues are available for purchase and will get the train speed of your account level. 15 for free or 30 for licensed players.
A micro transaction model for train speed on x number of characters as well as clothes and skins might work for Eve. But I doubt it would be viable until a lot of archaic systems are remade to improve the NPE. |

Thats is indeed interesting, but you need to provide an incentive for players to sub. Say "0" attributes to unsubbed players, but they can still log. and all bounties get halved. Stay unsubbed and you can no longer plug implants.
+1 to the whole idea

Great idea, using a proxy server and logging in 20 Covert Cyno AFK alts in your system.
Or logging in 20 bumpers to join you while mining in the ice belt...
And so on.... |

as a 4 year old you should have somewhere in the 90+ mil skill points if you skilled all the time
so imagine if you didnt have to pay the game anymore and still are able to play it
even more so, you could use the RL money to buy plexes and sell them on the market - which would be closer to the chinese version where the plex is 3-4 bil |

A Plan B? Well, maybe you want to play the game then? Or some kind of change in attitude of the players towards the players and the game? Maybe some more player effort towards the game in organizing things?
Your suggestions, on the other hand, do absolutely nothing to help the game grow and instead give a lot of reasons why F2P P2W is a terrible system.

it's more a PAY TO SAVE TIME then a pay to win
we should pay to support the game (CCP)
we should PLAY to support the community (help the game to grow) |

Nope
Any kind of pre-trained alt that doesn't need further training (thinking Capital/Super alts) coupled with the use of web proxies means you're just rewarding those that have been playing the longest with free characters to use. Fully formed farming alts will send isk inflation through the roof.
but what would I know, I'm just a salvager

The missions that you get kicked out when too many people are in a system? Your intense fight on a gate or in a belt when people come into the system or log in? The market activity that you cannot participate in or get kicked out when privileged people log in? That is the content that makes people join the game in troves?
Your logic is impeccable. And how subscriptions prevent content creation is not clear either.

Thank you no F2P isn't, in reality it is free to be bombarded by advertising and leads inevitably to Pay2Win store items and then a downward quality spiral and extinction.

Amarr Virgin wrote:then enjoy your empty systems how do you guys see the "end of eve" ? there has to be a "plan B" for the game Ah the proverbial "the end of EvE is nigh" and it will die if CCP does not change it to what I want. So original, like we have not seen this god only knows how many times.
Those other free to play games survive by getting some of their players to "pay" a subscription fee and in return those players get boosts, bonuses and in some access to items the the free to play people cannot get. In EvE we call that "pay to win" and we want no part of it. If you are tired of paying your subscriptions then plex them, if you do not want to work that hard in the game then quit. |

1) Please explain to the rest of us how you jumped from "your suggestion is not helping the community" to "content generation is bad?".... Cuz from where I'm sitting, you'll have to prove that unsubbed accounts generate eve content first.... Maybe you have some magical source that would dispel our disbelief while balancing the books at the same time?
2) Vets are leaving Eve because of the direction of the game / nerfs to their play styles / changes in ship roles / sov systems. Giving them nerfed albeit free access to a game they no longer enjoy is not going to cause a spike in online connections. Again, source to substantiate your claim?
3) Star Citizen much?
Eve is about Capital ships, WiS, Boobs, PI and Isk!

A free 2 play eve beyond the PLEX mechanism would be the death of the game as a whole.
Allowing players to use unsubscribed characters in the game would wreak havoc not only on the markets but in all areas of the game.
Well meant but horrible idea. |

there are a few issues that would have to be worked out.
1 control of alts, limiting via IP could be an answer but might affect users at colleges or other locations. 2 improving the use of plex, if players can play for free they can reach their skill goals and just stop paying, this means less $ for CCP unless CCP can convince players to use plex for more things. This incentivizes the use of Plex to make up for lost income from long time subscribers who are no longer skilling their characters. 3 population control, CCP would need to hire a lot more support staff to handle the larger volume of players. This is important to keep players happy. Further hardware would have to be able to handle a potentially massive influx of players
This would take a pretty large amount of planning as well as time to actually implement, not only that but CCP would have to discuss this at LEAST with the CSM if not the entire playerbase of eve before implementing to avoid another summer of rage.
It's a touchy subject and given the work needed for the change I doubt it's something on CCPs mind, at least until their current short term plan is finalized and players have their own player built stargates. |
