Often both will go hand in hand (server and client patches I mean), as this is the only way to release new content.
This is an infrastructure upgrade and it's good that they're focusing on one element at a time during the d/t otherwise it could get much more difficult and prone to error. I suggest letting them be, getting this patch in and hopefully reducing a bit of the server lag then focus on the client patching and minor irritations no matter how annoying they are...

Fundamentals of business, my friend. Take YOUR customer base, and only improve your product or service without offering anything new, and see how quickly your business grows. The international company I work for is continually offering new products and services to its clients all over the world, just like EVE. And now, for the first time in the 20 years it has been in business, they are finally spending over $1.8 billion (or somewhere in that range) to remodel and refit all of their locations worldwide to standardize how they do business. What this means to you, is that yes, CCP shoves bugs that have been around for years under the rug, but as an intelligent business decision, they have decided that these bugs are less significant to the game than offering new content. That's the fundamentals of business... know where your weaknesses are, but realize that not all weaknesses can be overcome, so instead, offer something new that makes the weakness less prominent.
You are right and that is what I was saying. My comment goes to the people saying "CCP works so hard to give us stuff and make the game better" and "you get free updates". That's all bull. CCP works for CCP and nobody else. And I, as a player, reserve the right to complain that the game is in a permanent beta test quality standard and not in a finished product one.
Originally by: Vult Secondly, your quote about... Originally by: Shemar Having thousands of paying customers beta test CCPs experiments does not count as a 'free upgrade'.
Have you ever been on the test server? There are plenty of times where that's more fun than playing on the main server! Dude... battleships for 100 isk and all the fittings you could ever ask for? And just think... somewhere, there's a 10/10 plex just for you!
I used to go there to duel with friends, but since jet can aggro got introduced I don't need that any more. But that's not really the point is it. The point is that the main server should not be used for beta testing. It is CCPs priority list of "announce it first, put it in the game second and maybe make it actulally work properly third" that annoys me. Yes it makes money for them, but makes the game worst for me and I reserve the right to call them on it. ________________

some folks may only have an hour or two a day to play so if its down that's one days play gone so maintaining server integrity is important. Which is besides the point as keeping the customers informed of any problems as and when they occur should be considered a priority not a bonus. Hell what is this, a BT call centre ?!!! (or broadband providers status page :( )

I would if I wasn't trapped in bed for the last year and probably the next year as the result of a horrific car accident. Stuck in an old folks home 3 hours from my wife and family. Just because time in game is important to a person and UNSCHEDULED and POORLY noticed AT RISK playing is horribly NOTICED, and upsetting to someone does, not mean they have an addiction to online play- just a desire for quality customer service.
I logged in by accident and have lost things as a result- I will only know the extent of this loss after logging in "safely."
I've worked in a casino for 8 years- a customer-centric business. I understand that the customer is not always right. But I am horribly dissappointed in eve for this last downtime. I never read the news or dev blogs. If i can log in- I do. If I can't - I don't. Having at-risk gameplay without a POP-UP that halts and warns the player- so that responsiblity isn't placed on the player (to read blogs and news with less then one day warning) unexpectedly.
This at risk play has never occured before has it?
Money is not what these players are after- even if that's what they are asking for- they want eve to recognize-admit- and maybe even apoligize for something they think is unfair. Monetary reimbursement is the only way they can think of for that to happen.

The email bug is serious enough to warrant its own simple quick patch. Letting us go on for so long with such a simple yet crippling problem is just lazy. The email bug should be fixed immediately if you guys know how to fix it.

I'll admit that having to take a moment to glance through my email for new names or numbers each login is a bit annoying, but it's hardly "crippling". -- Lil Miner Newbie Skills Roadmap | How to Build from a BPO |

The network infrastructure changes have been completed and no remaining issues with connectivity to Tranquility remain. There are some lingering mail server (not eve-mail) and website loadbalancing issues the server team are working on, but nothing that will interfere with gameplay itself.
The mail server issue is preventing some contact to the EVE community, including trial account CD keys, forum warnings and other server-to-user communication. The server team is aware of the issues and continue to work on resolving them.

It was replaced with a skill with a different name, it's not in the item database 'cause that hasn't been updated yet. (I can't check in game for you since I'm still at work.) But check out any skills for sale in game that emphasize gang leadership and that should tell you what skill it's changed to. -Btw, this is the wrong thread for this question....

I am experiencing an extreme amount of loading time (30-60 seconds)since this update. It happens after a lot of different actions in game, including opening a quicksell window, loading the actual game after selecting a character, undocking from a station, and opening an information window for a player.
I have tried reseting my computer, restarting Eve, closing everything running in the background, setting the eve process to high priority in my task manager, and nothing helps. It did not do this before the 24-hour update.
Anyone, namely Kieron, got any ideas as to whats causing this, or better yet, what I can do to fix it.
