Well last major event that really crossed the line in my opinion. This was when the events team posing as the Guristas teamed up with .5 and FE etc to assualt IRON and G pos so my question is why havent there been any events like this again.
Did ccp actually decide this crossed the line after dismissing these accusations at the time.
are the events team .5, FE or BoB alts? *Queue a shrek of fear*
i mean ill probably get silenced for this but there hasnt been an event like this (if there has then ill just shut up please do tell me.) and i find this surprising consider at the time it was such a big thing and all the GMs just dismissed it as normal at the time, no flame intended just constructive comments please. :)

Yeah I remember that, was bloody awesome :) IMO they need more events like this. I thought they just hired more event staff as well. Would be good to see mini events every now and then, IE: hauler gang or something going through low sec or some gm drones in the new region. -=====-

I haven't been to any, but I've read of several from the news. And of course there was that event where Serpentis stole the Nyx, in which my brother was taking part - I missed it by just like 30 minutes or so.
From what I understand, smaller events take place quite often, you just have to be lucky enough to run into them. I never have such luck I'm afraid

Well they did tho that half arsed attempt at an event by putting news bullitins about Sansha's Nation building up their forces. Quite a few 'Sansha Drone' ships were seen and destroyed in Stain. Nothing more came of it, maybe they got bored.

probably because they ****ed off a lot of people, suddenly creating deathstar posses in peoples systems, giving their enemys support and places to stage from and generally affecting wars on the whim of the entierly unbiased event team

Edited by: Deidranna on 06/01/2007 21:44:29 1 remember 2 from syndicate, last year. there was an event with serpentis smuggling drugs with freighters into empire, early May last year i think. protected by NORAD and D2 Concord gathered a fleet to stop the convoy in PF-346, ofc they failed. bob came to concords aid, followed by a nice battle bob vs d2. with about 50+ dead d2 and 30+ dead bob :) (don't poke me on the numbers kthx ;) ) afaik the plan was to do some regular runs for the next weekends, but never happend.
then there was the stolen gallente mothership. concord gathered people in empire, made promises about rewards and then goons/lfc destroyed the mothership. gathered people got angry and killed the concord officers. followed by some nice smacking on the forums

There were a few events that centered around the Kassigainen ARC, they were pretty impressive.
There's been a fair few events since the Nyx theft, it's just getting involved with them, if you don't follow the RP side of the game that's difficult

BUT from my understanding none of these events included actual killing of POS to severly aid one side like what happened in to IRON and G.
i mean there have been events yeah but no POS bashing from the events team thats mainly what im taling about. i mean a good skirmish with some events team is good but not something that can potentially drastically change/aid a certain group ingame.

Anyone can choose to ally themselves with factions that Aurora controlls, so it's not like the actors are picking sides. It's people who shoot down actors instead of trying to get along with them that pick the sides, and they should be prepared to suffer all possible consequences.

There are lots of little events going on all the time. Most of the eve population doesn't really get to see them though because they usually involve ISD members giving awesome loot and prizes to their alliance friends.

That was an awesome fight btw!
I was a bit disappointed it didn't happen according to the 'story-line' in PF- - but none-the-less one of best medium scale fights i'd been in for a long time! Cans ruddy everywhere after that
It was actually the first 'Story-line' based fight i'd ever been in, and watching both sides RP it up was definatley something new that i thought i'd never be into in anyway

Edited by: Toppar Wear on 08/01/2007 10:11:01 There where a time when they did some major pos events but as we all know the servers cant handle pos assaults..
There was a serp pos in AZN under the ASCN rule and a few serp dreads aswell. Well lets just say that the lag was so immens that it really wasnt funny (blob ftw? ) And the reward was okay but nothing like the losses, a few million faction ammo which wasnt to be sold publicly.

Wherent people trying havoc and murder over the GM bias at the time? I think theres your reason why the cancelled the whole event team partaking in anything meaningful idea. The losing side will pretty much always whine like a little *****. -----

Sounds about right. Pretty much everytime the event teams have tried to do somthing meaningful within Eve (news reports on player alliances, major events etc) they've been greeted by an onslaught on moaning and complaining about people saying it's not fair XXX alliance got the attention etc.
Would put anyone off wanting to get involved with any large scale events.

If the players that get involved with the event aren't properly rewarded, they usually destroy the event actors' ships, grab the fat loot, and crash the rest of the story arc (at least partially).
If they do get properly rewarded, their enemies will bitch and whine that ISD are alts of x corp/alliance and always trying to find ways to give their mains access to easy freebies.
Kind of annoying, that. -----

The main problem seams to be they arent properly anounced and yes it seams to turn into whoever gets news about it fast enough to get in on it gets reward.
The whole kassington incindent for instance wry was there no gallente aligned Player corp invited to counter veto?, it could have been turned into a large multi party event but it was only veto and NPC's as far as i recall.
I think what causes the most *****ing, is that it dont seams to be that easy to actually tet info on comming events in due time. the event forum for instance is pretty cluttered with threads that dont have directly relations to an ISD organised event, as i i write thist no reference is made to ISD organised events on the front page of event forums.

QFT
I was hoping we could get some statistics on Motherships. How many are in game, and of those in game how many were event prizes?
On the issue of people whining, the big events should not be centered around player alliances. Alliances are the domain of the players, not ISD. They can do really cool stuff in empire if they choose, just leave player sovereign space to the players. Hopefully faction warfare will add the needed spice, but I am not holding my breath.
I think people would have tolerated ISD news reporting if the real characters behind ISD volunteers were known. But using anonymity to feign unbiased reporting was too mcuh for some people. I myself thought the whole 'Scope' forum (anyone remember that?) was amazing.

As for the original question: we are working on bringing more life into the Guristas again. Currently plans for this are beeing developed and logistics for it put in place by one of our senior event producers. We do however, as always, depend on the manpower we have. WeŚre also limited by it. Contrary to what many would believe we have lives and sometimes we even use our time to actually play EVE. We also have families, wives, husbands, children. Aurora is a volunteer team, not payed staff.
And all these allegations of beeing biased.... When we hand out rewards anyone who doesnt get one can accuse us of beeing that. Is it true? No. Do we give awesome loot and prizes to our alliance friends as Shamiz so nicely put it? No. Will you believe me if i tell you that? I got no idea.
I will only say this once: If you have proof of someone in the events team using their position to help their alliance or corp then by all means send it to me ([email protected]). A person that did that would have no place with us. If you dont have proof then stop these unfounded allegations right now. We put a lot of time and effort in events and i wont let my team be falsly accused for the job they are doing.
