BUT please, all you "CCP NEEDS TO DO.." and "THE GMS SHOULD" and all the others generally screaming for blood people, how about we wait for more info, wait for things to get sorted... And in the meantime, lean back and remember the "Grande Playboy Corp" theft, that got us all worked up so badly, had us screeching for CCP's blood and so on, and so forth... ? Just an idea.

Jake Pliskin	Posted - 2003.12.02 13:01:00 - [35] i know you said you checked for spyware and keyloggers, you gotta check often. i won't list brands, plenty of spyware checking programs available, i was shocked to find a number of keyloggers and a couple diallers on my system. i have my firewall configured up, and yet these pests still get through from time to time. hope these hackers get traced. I know we're talking virtual objects inside a computer game here, but it's no fun, when people put so much time and effort into it, to have an idiot(s) ruin it all

What about any sort of records in your own Wallet, ya know Fred sold to Harry etc? So many ways to track this down and gather up info. If he has access to your logins would that give him access to your financial information? If so you/CCP might want to consider taken Miso advice. One question for all the people expecting the GMs to "do whats right".... all of this is predicated on IP logging or something like that. Im no expert by any means, but it seems to me, that just because I log on to my account from a different location doesnt mean my account was hacked. Im planing on doing just this when i take a 3 week vacation in the States....What happens if CCP shows that it was just one or two login attempts from a different location than normal? Does this really mean hacking occured? "...KIAGumpys account, one of our production/refining accounts used by me and the directors only. This account had access to all 7 Corp hangars." Errm, isnt it explicitly forbidden to share accounts for exactly this reason? Technically the KIA guys are in violation of their EULAs.... I dont know what affect that would/should have on the GMs. Maybe there is a lesson here? All around this is a terrible turn of events. GM's should see that if they do not replace your items and skillpoints that they will loose a valueable customer. DigitalCommunist	Posted - 2003.12.02 15:49:00 - [46] 99.9% certain it's the original hacker and his buddies that did this. in the WORST case scenario.. - hackers spoofed their IP's this time and there's no way to track them, or CCP has **ty logs and they can't track the IP in the first place but overall I truly believe that CCP will do the right thing, this if left unresolved goes much further for killing EVE's reputation than any exploit kiddies or scammers. no one wants to play a game where hackers are let off scott free. Just sit tight for a few days, let GM's do their thing and try to remember that out of thousands and thousands of subscribers, you will always have one or two willing to take the game to a new low with OOC maliciousness its unlucky that after 6 months your corp was targetted. like I said, just sit tight and wait a few days dont even have thoughts of quitting because this is what the law-breaking fool WANTS if you quit, he WINS, he has SUCCEEDED in making you crumble. if you "ride the wave" out, get your stuff back eventually, you send a stronger message that you're above his lame ploys and that he's cost you but a few days of your time, while it has cost him his main account, and quite possibly RL legal issues. if they find this person, sue the ** out of him there is no excuse for this _____________________________________ Perpetually driven, your end is our beginning. CCP, would it make sense to into other authentication schemes, as opposed to plain password auth. IP Address restrictions, or one-time-use challenge phrase along with the standard password might be a solution, non?
