Only thing I can think of would be a bunch of nanobattleships, and I'm not even sure if that would work.

How would that help? The problem isn't to get the dps, but to keep it from running away.
The only feasible way would probably be with nanoBS yeah, but make sure you bring some nospocs with neuts to get the cap down to below 95% before it can jump out to a friendly cyno. If the pilot is smart and always has a cyno ready somewhere, he should be able to evade basically anything if he isn't a complete shroom. -----

You can very easily "defang" a mothership using only 5-6 battleships in a smartbomb cluster, assuming he doesnt have battleship backup.
As for actually killing one in low sec, its impossible since he can tank forever and cant be tackled with anything other than a dictor bubble or deployable warp disruptor.

The only way is to kill it before it warps. You can't scramble it in any way. So you need a bunch of nano ships to bump it and jump in a bunch of dreads or carriers to kill it fast. Still, it would be very difficult to pull off and you would certainly loose a few BS.

Neut its cap to 70% else it will simply jump, while ramming it to keep from aligning. There really isn't anywhere it can go once in system though, other than a pos. You'd hope he'd stick around to fight a few bs, and be unable to jump by the time he realizes you're in a bunch of neuting bs. Then just drop in the dreads while ramming it with nano bs or something, and it would probably not get out. A few siege dreads would drop the thing very rapidly, and should be able to hit it considering they are extremely large and slow.
Basicly bring some friends, and hope he will fight for a while before trying to run. Your rifter isnt going to solo a 20-30 bil isk ship. ________________

doesnt work very well. we tried with around 10 nano bs 3 carriers and 1 dread. after around 2 minutes of bumping he just warped. its impossible to keep him bumped for the whole time. just one bump from the wrong direction and you actually help him.
nanocarriers are the only thing that might stop them. also jetison cans but that is an exploit imho

Good point, but properly fitted motherships will have something like 1000+ cap/s regeneration.
Has anyone managed to kill one this way?

But... mommy said there are no solo pwnmobiles..
Having them be invulnerable to warp scrambling was a big mistake. These ships should not run around alone but with a load of support. Now we got them gatecamping lowsec alone with impunity O_o ------ Simply by pulling on both ends, Chuck Norris can strech diamonds back into coal.

IMO this is the best recomendation, i know that getting that MS killmail may seem awesome but fi you think about it for a moment gettin gthe fighters have the same effect on the guy to a certain extent. If you kill, say, 10 fighters in one run and he comes back another day to try again and wipe his fighters again soon hell have a dry wallet or hel simply leave the system for good.
Though i think the one way to do it in low sec would be to ram him a bit bring some neut BSes and finally drop in 4 dreads on him, u may get lucky to take him out.

Meh he will just pull his fighters if you start shooting them and launch 20+ sentry drones or heavy drones ... I doubt the MS gate campers often use anything else actually.

ok its a 20+ bil isk ship, let them be able to kill ure raven.. lol..
Anyway to kill one,
5 domi with t2 drones and nano setup with nos, the drones stop the mothership from warping, and you can still bump with the nanos on. Then u need a set of carriers or dreads. its not impossible I know of atleast one that has been killed this way. But remember, anyone that isnt a muppet will also carry normal t2 drones in their carrier / mothership and rest assured someone specced in drones (u need to be highly specced for fighters) will make 20 t2 large drones rip a bs apart. If the guy is a muppet, and is only using fightrs, then once the fighters r assigned on one of u, warp away, it will mean the fighters follow and it will take longer to reassign to a new target..
Other thing to note, if the mothership is camping low sec, hes more than likely running, nos on high + cap remote reps to repair fighters (u wont beat these if ure trying to shoot fighters 3k hp rep'd per 4 secs) meds will be 2 sensor booster 2 (or faction) 2 officer scrambler and officer web, therefore his recharge rate will be severly limited. So its not impossible to break his tank.
Final thing to note is, once u have him stuck there with no cap, u have to kill nearly 1mil hp for it to die.. (this takes time)...

The drones will die within 10 seconds as any decent fitted MS has a few 10km SB fitted. That detail aside, the plan might work.

Alot of people think well, but dont know what they are saying.
I was one of those before <anonymous> explained the whole thingie to me. A mothership is semi impossible to kill in lowsec. Why?
Its immune to EW, you cant warp scramble him. You are in lowsec, and as such you can not deploy warp bubbles or dictor bubbles. Allowing him to run if needed. It can deal an insane ammount of damage, it can easely take out 15 battleships before having to warp away. This is, if the pilot isnt a complete retard. It can jump out to a nearby POS if he smells a trap, so you need to move fast. It can tank you for a long long long time.
So, the only way to actually keep it in place is to bump it, but as the outbreak guy said; one wrong bump and you are screwed. Knowing the thing has a ****load of hitpoints, the chance for a wrong bump is about 99,99% leaving the chance to kill it to 0,01% hence the SEMI impossible.
About the nano carrier idea, it has the mass to bump it decently but i'm not sure that you can get em in position fast enough to do it. Hence, there is no such thing as a capital microwarpdrive, so you will need the speed implants and have a verry reduced tank. I'm not sure what speed you can get out of a carrier, but to make it bump a mothership multiple times sounds difficult (since you need to align again etc etc). ------------------------ Stop reading my siggy! |

who killed a mothership ? sofar no mothership have been lost.
also please stop with the bumping ideas. has anyone even tried to bump motherships? unless u run a typhoon with a snake set the mothership wont even drop out of allignment if you bump it cause it has such a huge mass. we had 10 nano bs bumping the ms around 30 fighter drones and 50 normal drones on the ship and it still warped.
also almost noone uses fighters in lowsec. for instance the establishment guy who flies the nyx is a -10 guy. imagine what happens to him if he deploys his fighters on a gate. the only time they are of use is if you fight at planets or belts.

Short of bringing a Titan, or 2 mother ships, as well as support fleets, it looks like the mothership is pretty much invulnerable. That said, what with warp to zero, sureley even a BS can get into warp and out of the other side of the system before the MS becomes a real issue for it.
That said the last (and only) time I ever encountered a mothership, I was in 0.0 and a 50 man BS fleet + supporting dictors and bubbles forced him to safe and cyno out (He killed the dictors off fast once he realised that 2 alliances had mobilised to go for him).
All that sadi CCP were investigating bringing warp bubbles into low sec, so there may be a solution on teh horizon.
Akkarin
P.S. Sorry if any info is out of date, I've been away nearly a month due to an exploding graphics card issue.

The only way that other mothership will help, is if it's bumping the enemy mothership to keep it from warping, while a few dozen ships NOS it.

Yeah what would happen to him? I don't see what you are getting at.
I did get attacked by Ignoramus (cool guy) and he did use his 25 fighters in lowsec at a gate. And nothing happened to him, noone smote him with divine vengeance. The fighters followed me to my POS where none of them popped. Whatta ya know, they also immune to warpscrambling. Then his Nyx showed up outside my POS, who started wasting it's ammo in a show of futility to please it's master, stripping it's shields very, very slowly. Then he smartbombed my drones, forced me back into the POS and warped off.
At the moment I don't really mind motherships being the invulnerability platform of doom that they are, because there are so few of them and even fewer that operate in lowesec. But in six months... how many pirates wont be running around in them in lowsec? Heck, how many read this thread and instantly decided to start saving up for one? I know I want one :p
So thats why they should be nerfed now and not later when people have spent months and billions on their super ship of extreme untouchability just to have their dreams crushed.

sentry guns shoot fighters and they pop fast. that is the reason most dont fight with fighters at gates or stations.
also rather change the ways to catch one than change the mothership its by far not too dangerous in terms of damage output

The counter to a single pilot with a mom is obvious. A player of your stature\experience not being able to reason the problem through is most alarming.
Now mind you, if the mom pilot has support all bets are off, but then again, if he has support and requires support, then all this nonsense regarding "solopwnmobilage" needs to just bug off.

Now mind you, if the mom pilot has support all bets are off, but then again, if he has support and requires support, then all this nonsense regarding "solopwnmobilage" needs to just bug off.
You seem unable to make a single point without resorting to personal attacks, you might want to check that luggage at the entrance.
You are straight out saying that a mothership in lowsec is not practically invulnerable and that there is an obvious way of defeating one. Care to share?
Also you are saying that a mothership requires support. If this is the case what are your arguments that it also needs to be invulnerable to warpscrambling?

My reply to hardin wasn't a personal attack. I was expressing genuine surprise that he didn't figure out the most obvious counter to these ships not already stated in this thread. Actually, another obvious answer, whilst not being the fulproof one I'm going to withold at this time, is to kill the fighters. Have a plan in place to mobilize a force especially designed for that task.
You are blinded by your search for a "omgz we killed a momship" killmail versus trying to work with your team mates to utterly neutralize them.
Lastly, and just for factual reference, and even in the case of the Establishment's use of the platform, they are not used as solopwnmobiles by any stretch of the imagination. But the fact that you do not notice the presence of their support tells me that you're half cooked and bagged before the awful wtfbbqmobile arrives on the scene ;)

Pick a choice :
A] 3 carriers fitted with 4x Nos + 1 remote rep (ofc I haven't tried it yet but more than doable "mathematically") B] a mix of 20 cruisers and HAC with drones + 2 carriers. (lost a carrier in that way from BoB)

Wait a minute... I just had an epiphany. I see... a nano titan! Oh my god, I just had another. 74 dreads should probably be able to instapop it. Sorry for my folly, I take everything back!

Best way is probably 30+ carriers, blob it with fighters, hope it lags out and crashes, then probe it out. There is no way to kill a lowsec mom. that's it. can't bump it cos its too big, cant dictor it, can't ewar it. best you can hope for is to kill its fighters and support and force it to warp off + cloak.

I'm no expert on PVP, but I'd have to say the main difference between a warp and destruction is how long it takes the pilot to be ready for the next fight.
There's probably not many people who can go get their "spare" mothership and warp back in to teach you a lesson.

do you know how long dictor bubbles will survive when they are in range of ign0ramus smartbombs? and the dictor will have a prob too and large bubbles vs 25 fighters .... i donŠt think there is an easy way to hold a mothership which is setup like Hera

Lets be honest here. Both motherships and titans were never balanced properly. The thought process was clearly "they are so expensive they will only be produced on rare occaisons in low numbers" and "nobody will allow someone else to build them". The fact of the matter, any large alliance will be able to crank these out on a semiregular basis. No ship, not even titans or motherships, should be effectively unkillable. Once you allow that to happen, the game becomes truly broken.
We're going to have a similar discussion in a year when a powerbloc aquires enough titans to instapop dread fleets. Don't pretend it wont happen. When you have unkillable ships they will only accumulate in number. While amusing, lets not pretend that Cyvoks' titan loss was anything but utter nonsense.

I know a group of nanonos domi took one down on Sisi in low-sec testing with moms. Think it was something like 10 nanonos domis and a Lachesis. But that was a lone mom, without support. You better bet if you start trying to pop someones mom their friends might take notice.

It's low sec. No one's forcing you to go through a system camped by a mothership, the stakes there are minimal.
And Titan's should always be allowed in low sec because without their DDD they are more of a liability than anything. What are they going to do to you? Hit you with XL guns that without siege deal less damage than two gank megas .
