ISK only now? I just came back from a few months break of playing Eve cause my courier missions got completely screwed with the dragon Code...and hoped by now you would have made some minour improvements at least... Instead I have to learn that you removed all goods from mission rewards and made it all pure boring isk rewards. I REALLY did NOT know courier missions could get ANY MORE boring than they were before...You really made it there!
P.S.: I don't care for PvP, yes I do kill missions as well and I just like doing courier missions inbetween while cleaning the flat, chatting or something...

I miss the non-cash rewards as well.
Storylines still give implants and such, but even those were given more isk only rewards as well.

From the old mission rewards, I have the biggest swimming pool ever - a freight container full of water.
I'm glad they dump this rewards. But the offers definately need being look at. Then again, it seems they are doing just that. I got a level 4 courier storyline yesterday, and I got 10 mil reward + 5 mil bonus .

Yey... I just loved it when I got Civilian Miner Is as a reward (or civ mining drones), or water, or silicon. Completely worthless...
Sorry, coming from someone who uses missions to fuel his other activities (PvP, skillbooks -> better weapons) I was ****ed when I got something I couldn't use or something worthless.
If they want to put in some items as rewards, make them worth it, not 50 Miner Is FFS.

I think there should be item rewards, even if only as a bonus. Of course, it does need to be stuff that you can sell off or at least melt down for minerals.

I miss the non-isk rewards, although I would like to see a better formula for their distrubution.
For instance, BPC copies of Frigates, Cruisers and Battleships.
I'd also like to see BPC copies of faction items.
I also want a pony.

I liked the item rewards, it made missions more interesting and actually gave some variety depending on what corporations you ran missions for. Cutting out these rewards cut out part of the economy for the small/individual player which I see as a loss. Sure, I wasn't entirely pleased when I got 200 Civilian Armor Repairers but you can reprocess things for a reason.

Well.. Small Arms ftl, but basically, yes, I miss the item rewards. Made the NPC corps different and interesting. Then again, the whole mission system could use an overhaul. Less time for bonus (to make it a real bonus), less incentive to farm missions, team missions and rewards, etc.

It's not garbage, it's stuff you have to think about to sell. Your water is worth a lot in some places, you just had to put forth the effort to bring it there to sell it.
Other items were useful in agent offers. Those cans you have an endless supply of refine pretty well. Heck, even the 46 Small Armor Repairer modules I got once was well worth it.
None of the the stuff was "junk", it just wasn't mindless-grindable-rclick-sell type reward people apparently wanted, so now we all get ISK. Though I'm sure it's probably something to do with database usage. A shame really. -- Lil Miner Newbie Skills Roadmap | How to Build from a BPO |

Know what's more carebear than mining or courier missions? Posting snide comments on the forums that have no constructive use whatsoever
On topic, I'd like to see some diversity in mission rewards too, and in missions in general. It's kind of frustrating to cycle through the same four or five missions over and over and over.(cue more snide carebear comments ) I can't wait to see the changes to missions that were talked about in one of the recent dev blogs. --------

I am still humbly awaiting an answer to why missions (especially courier) are still in the sorry state they are ever since Dragon Code...and the sorry state of the reward system (Isk only now?), offer system (higher LP offers not even coming close to 1000 ISK/LP payout, lack of non-implant offers) ever since I play ;) It'd be really gorgeous if someone from CCP (possibly a Dev working on content?) could give an answer to this post...

I did some Courier Missions with an alt and have to say they are utterly useless regardless of whether you get ISK or items:
About 50 LP and 100k ISK for level 3 ones About 200 LP and 200k ISK for level 4 ones
Plus there's about four different ones that are repeated all over. Yay, another arms cache (2m3) to 'haul' as a level 4 mission. Yay, more Genetically Enhanced Cattle (800m3) to 'haul' as level 4 again.
I thought I could put my freighter to some good use on those :s

When you put it this way, it really does sound like CCP is just trying to make mission running as boring as possible.
Ulterior motive, maybe?
I doubt it. I think it's more likely a case of "grand vision, no time". They have a plan to make mission running into something wonderful, but other things are occuping their time, and half-measures won't do.
Then when some problem crops up, they just nix or nerf it in anticipation of the later, all-encompassing feature. |

Well, that may be the case...but...agent missions is the most important PvE feature in game in my humble opinion, escpecially cause the first contact of new players is with mission agents (tutorial missions). So many will stick to doing agent missions (as I did). So a good collection of missions, a good reward system and anything else surrounding missions must be a top priority for the PvE department of CCP. Otherwise new players playing experiences (the PvE part again) will soon drop down to being bored.

As a newer player I was quite suprised at how under developed the mission system is. There are like 10 missions and they repeat over and over and over again. I can't imagine it would take too long to add another 100 missions of different types to each of the main mission types so at least you have a somewhat limited variety.
That said, I couldn't stand doing missions after about a week and left Empire never to return. Enjoying PvP, Ratting, and limited Mining in 0.0. Making about 500 million a week as well.

Missions are way underdeveloped. It is like they have one guy in charge of working on missions who also happens to be the CCP janitor.
I seriously believe CCP would rather Empire players mine over mission running because it contributes more to the game economy. Therefore, Missions take a backseat to everything else. They got their wish as far as I am concerned. I trained up Barges and make pretty good isk in the roids. Nope it isn't exciting but it is steady and judging from ive read in this thread, it pays a ton more than what mission runners make even on the lvl 3's.

It always annoys me seeing comments like that (in-game and out of game). Just because things get worse doesn't mean it was caused by the fix. Life isn't simple and life isn't easy.
It's entirely possible that things would have been a helluva lot worse without the fix.
Put in context we might have more lag now but because of the drone changes it isn't as bad as it could have been. -- (Battle hardened industrialist)

I have been missioning since the birth of my character and its a bit of a mixed feeling. I find that once you have done enough missions and weeded out which are worth the time and effort you get stuck doing same missions over and over.
How? Basically find 3-4 agents of whatever level you want to work for and keep rotating between them. When a mission comes up which you know takes far too long to do and rewards very little you decline and keep doing this to get those juicy missions which actually have fantastic rewards for the effort required to do them.
Although some missions are 'just right' I do agree that a lot of other missions need some loving. Whether it be to have better rewards or just have their difficulty dumbed down a bit. Any smart pilot wouldn't bother spending 2 hours doing a mission for a bit of isk when you can do another in less than half an hour and receive a +3 implant that sells for a lot more.
At the moment I'm enjoying missioning but that is only because I'm cherry picking the sweet ones that have implants and skillbook drops while declining the isk only reward ones. Would be nice to have a bit of variety, but hopefully something is in the works to improve this current state of missions...
P.S. When you decline a mission that you're on you mentioned you lose FACTION as well. Does your faction rating improve with the enemies of the one you just lost standing from when that happens? If so it may be a good way to get in the good books again with other factions.

i just know this from fertilizer in the rens-area, but apart from supporting freighter pilots who brought that stuff to seomwhere in sinq (i believe), there was no point in these except to clog up your assets.
yes, just extra money does not produce some "woha!" response. however, nor does your 30000th fertilizer bonus.
how about the bonus came in extra LP? and how about LP were collectable inside an NPC corp?

I don't say that all these trade goods rewards were phantastic...but if you knew to what corp to go you could get nice stuff like robotics, RAMs and Databases, etc... I liked it a lot when once in a while I got stuff worth double of what an isk reward now is...and all the other stuff would sell eventually to some trader for a half-decent price. You did screw traders too a bit with this change Nevertheless, it doesn't have to be trade goods...but giving love to missions in general (and couriers especially), rewards and agent offers would be VERY welcome... Also a comment from some dev in the CCP cellar...

It was stated in the misssion forum that all rewards were changed to ISK because of the general concensus of the customers. So we asked for it this way. You may want to find a good trade route and sell of your reward but others did not want to go through this effort.
As far as the change screwing over traders? I think they are just fine without the below par trade goods that agents used to offer.
Reward payout was reduced and that change was also documented in the mission runners forum. Itr was simply to easy to make ISK without player interaction. So they reduced it. CCP has frequently made statements that the goal was to make this a world were almost everything was to be player controlled or driven. They have never given that much attention to the mission side of the house.

Is there any link you can post to this debate? I certainly would like to backtrack and see when and where CCP notified us of this nerf.
I certainly miss the variety in time bonus mission rewards. The RAMs and the science skillbooks from level 4 missions were really useful and did add a little variety.

The complete removal of item rewards from regular missions ( note, note story as some bloke mentioned earlyer ) is total crap. They removed item rewards COMPLETELY!
Let's take a step back and look at the whole problem. Isk farmers did not like the fact that missions gave cows or trash or other items that could not be reprocessed so they **tched on the forums to remove ALL THE FRICKING ITEM REWARDS including implants from implant corps and such.
CCP, what's next? Rats dropping isk only? Player wrecks dropping isk only? Asteroids being mined for isk, not ore, directly?
When i started this game one year ago i quickly dumped it because of warp to 15 km. But i kept an eye out for it, and when Kali started i picked it up again. I remember when there where -some- mission rewards ( missions being the first element eve introduces you to, stuff like research and pirating being completely ignored ) gave items worth 4 , 10 , or 20 times the total mission isk gain while most gave stuff of little use.
Tell me dear isk farmer, you can't trash the stuff worth crap and only sell/valorificate the rare stuff missions might have given? What's the point of NPC corporations now?
After 2000 or so missions and no item rewards yet i find missions to be crap when it comes to excitement.
Eve is becoming more retarded by the day and players are pushing the devs into making it so, a pitty.

I tend to agree.
Even though things like "Frozen Plant Seeds" and "Silicate Glass" were often unwanted, they forced players to diversify. I doubt the total volume of these goods spawned from missions, was enough to ruin the market.
But now, ISK only rewards means that people can just plug away to their 'end game', getting billions of ISK and buying their CNR. No branching out, no need to think about anything other than making the most ISK.
This combined with people farming missions is pretty crap.

Originally by: Gungankllr I miss the non-isk rewards, although I would like to see a better formula for their distrubution.
For instance, BPC copies of Frigates, Cruisers and Battleships.
I'd also like to see BPC copies of faction items.
I also want a pony.
OH PONY!!!! I would be content with mins! http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=465618 |

I agree, instead of adding a few interesting things CCP went the easy way and just removed everything. That kind of course is bad for the game... Rather give your features some more loving instead of just dumping them

I never saw any explanation as to why it was removed. It makes no sense. I loved getting weird and random trade goods that I then had to figure out what to do with.
I suspect it was done by CCP to remove clutter. ie. too many noob people with too much junk all over the universe taking up too much space.
If that's the case, I wouldn't expect an answer Siri. But it's a shame. :(

Junk was always more fun than the ISK I got from missions. It had something nice about it for some reason.

I wouldn't mind if they did not bring back the more impossible rewards (Station Containers) that were far too much trouble to transport to a place where you could sell them.

You make it sound like all non-ISK rewards were crap. I, for one, liked getting an extra 20k missles that I used or the dozen frigates that I could sell, give to new corpmates, fit for travel, etc. At the very least I'd *really like* to see the faction mods be brought back in (Fed Navy Co-Processor, etc).
When my friends and I started playing 8-9 months ago it was a blast to see what bonus item(s) we'd get each mission. Yeah, some were near useless but quite a few were very helpful.
It is the same thing with LP offers: When we started I'd get offers for T1 and T2 ships, implants, junk, contraband offers, etc. Then for the longest time we ONLY got silly offers for implants (8 +1 Empathy implants for 20,000 LP, etc). Now its nothing but implants and crap (I don't konw how many times I've gotten offers for things like 100 Science Grads, 200 Janitors, 55 Exotic Dancers, 45 Marines and 250 Tourists for like 30,000 LP). ----------

I loved getting rewards like RAM which I could reprocess down to some much needed nocxium. Any unwanted trade goods I just dumped into a station container until I had enough to make it worthwhile to transport somewhere to sell or just set up a sell order.
My lvl 4 courier missions do now give me easily 500,000 isk (reward+bonus) per mission, even for 2 jumps in a shuttle. So I suppose I can just use the isk to buy nocxium off the market but as stated above it does remove some of the diversity. I also get +4 implants offered in empire on a regular basis.
Missions as quests in other games can be inherently boring but I do think some of them are quite well written. That doesn't make flying 2 jumps to pick up a cow any more interesting but at least some effort was put into it. Recruitment |

lol.. I had forgotten about the non-isk rewards.
I also had a station can of trade items and almost 100k of actual "garbage" sitting at my old base in Kub. I ended up just trashing the items (because no one was buying at that time)and recycling the non-trade stuff.
Missions do need to be shown some love by CCP, items like BPCs and skill books need to be added as rewards. Aslo CCP you need to focus on empire now, you have focused too much on 0.0 in the last few years and forgot a major part of the EVE players (in empire).

I'm not entirely sure what devs or other people think about this idea, but why not have a choice or options with bonus rewards? Do you want pure ISK? Perhaps you want a few NPC goods and an exotic dancer? Maybe what motivates you is a few extra LP so that you can get that fancy offer you've been looking at. Maybe, just maybe, you're a loyalist to the company and you would rather get better standings with that company. In either case, try talking to you agent.
Don't know Dev thoughts on this, but perhaps even making more use of the negotiations skill could give you more choices or a more flexible agent. Just a thought as all of this could reflect the bartering that goes on between people to get them to accept contracts or do personal favours.

I have been a mission runner from the start, that is pretty much the only part of the game I have focused on. The reason I have done this is to have an income when I start PvP:ing.
So I should be happy with the way things are you might think, but I liked the item offers, gave me some variation.
I do agree that they might have needed an overhaul. In my opinion the item rewards should be tied to what kind of agent you have, so the army gives weapons and such, schools give skills and so on. It would fit the fluff and at least make it seem like it was not only about the ISK.
I would also like the mission bonus to be harder to achieve, and change it to LP instead of ISK.
And while I am rambling on, I would love to have my LP pooled by agent corp, something I have read might be implemented. And then this LP pool could be used to get "special" items, again depending on the agents corp, such as rare skills and named, T2 or even faction items, or to increase standing with that corp.
Just my opinion in the matter. |

Originally by: Lord Frost Does this mean starbase charters are going to skyrocket? I thought they were given as bonuses... now they are only special mission rewards?
I forgot about Starbase Charters.. The only way I've ever gotten them lately is to keep starting L1 agents and get about 200 LPs and wait a week until I get an agent offer.. For some reason I've never gotten a second offer from the same agent so I always have to use new agents, moving around all the time :( ----------

the only thing bothering me is that the implant offers from storyline missions are gone. it gone so far that i let timeout the last 3 storyline missions (each hauling 40k cargo 8 jumps through lowsec and back! for yay 5mil isk!) this is just retarded, at least for everone allready having enough faction standing..

and besides.. doing missions is my main income. i dont have a industrial alt also i do not like ratting in 0.0 (this is soo ******* boring and even les isk except you can chain 20 tripple 1.8mil bs spawns in a true -1.0). so i hate the fact that i now AGAIN have to run more missions than bevore to finally get some isk to do something fun in this game (pvp, and dont tell me to earn isk with pvp, think i suck so much i have a 5:1 getting killed ratio:). if at least pve would not be that bad implemented, at least a little fun.. well then probably i'd even have fun doing a mission for 5mil. but right now pve goes downhill again. mroe grind for all of us yeah!

Those implant important missions are still there...they just added one courier important mission with crap rewards \o/ YAY a courier mission at last! Though hauling 40k m¦ for 5 mil seems crappy when there is a 1m¦ mission for a 40 mil implant as well

From what corporation you get offers of science graduates?
I would like to stock. Mayby someday they will return useful for R&D. The rest I can find in missions, but never Science Graduates.

Why stock on something CCP removed with dragon Code without offering any replacements? They said it would be a brief disrupt until missions based on the new code could be introduced.... right...that was scheduled for...in a few months...after a lot of *rabble* *rabble* they put in the current couriers/R&D missions...basically one mission with 5 or 6 different texts and cargo types, thats it...and was supposed to be an intermediate solution... The intermediate now spans several months... And to the question "When will we finally get our promised diversified and maybe even fun missions?" You won't even get a comment
