for those who dont know this yet:
found how to keep read mail "read" when you are reading your eve mails. Left click in the body of the actual mail, where the text is, and it wont show as unread again :)
just passing this on, wasnt me who found it out.

I noticed myself that my Concord killmails don't flash unread like the others. I thought it was something to do with me copying them (for killboards). But apparently it was as simple as left clicking on them Geez....

All I can say is CCP should impliment a solution to this as it leads to a negative outlook to players who are communicating to one another. Glad to know that works though.

Jenny is right. It only started working since downtime. I just discovered that you don't even have to left-click in the mail message for it to stay read. A friend sent me a mail. I click on his name in the upper-left pane, I could see the message title in the upper-right pane, and the message body in the lower pane. I did not click in the message body, but closed the mail, logged off, and logged back on. It was still marked as read.
Looks like the devs released a small patch during downtime.

This is a workaround, not a fix. People are only happy with this workaround because it has taken so long for CCP to fix it properly and the problem at hand is so annoying to so many people. If CCP told people this was their recommended solution right after the problem surfaced there would be people making threads saying how annoying this workaround is.
Myself, I don't care for the bug or the fix, evemail sucks in so many ways that I haven't bothered doing anything with it besides skimming through the mails and deleting them all once in a while. I can't stand user interfaces that make me jump through hoops to do simple things.

It could be a complete coincidence that I did it without realising just before downtime, but I don't think I did.

Remember people. CCP Devs said when this bug was found that it was due failure in YOUR client and YOUR machine. Don't expect fixes coming now when there is "fix".
They will simply say that "mail was ment to be read via left click body"-way.
Playing Caldari-Online as a Amarr specced is PURE Hardcore (aka. stupid).

Considering which alliance you are in, and the image they currently have with a large proportion of Eve's population, you could at least TRY not to sound like a jerk.
I've heard people say that CCP actually fixed the bug, and even if not, they said the fix was ready for the next patch.
Sure, it would have been nice sooner rather than later, but it was only an annoyance really.

I had the same. My Advanced Spaceship Command skill has gone to lv 5 everytime I have logged in since this bug happened. Before I read this topic it did it again, but after I left clicked and relogged to test, it didn't show up again...
Now maybe CCP owes me like 70x the SP of Adv. SS Comm.

When I logged on this morning about 20 mins after DT to change my skill before going to work I still had this bug, so NO it was not fixed with DT. It is NOT a client issue as I did a fresh install a very short time ago due to some other issues..
As I am positive this will work, and, as I recall the few messages I did have to copy were fixed immediately (didn't realize and or notice it before), I thank you very much much Arleqwinn it's greatly appreciated when people find things that work for small fixes like this and do share.

Uhm, my mail bug disappeared by itself 2-3 days ago, I didn't need to do crap to make it disappear tbh (and I had REALLY big problems before). THe only thing I did on my com p was to install IE7, but I can hardly think that this is what made it disappear though.
On a side note I'm pretty sure Bill Gates is playing EVE, in BoB, as a matter of fact.
